    ABOUT THE CENTER

    Rider University located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey is comfortably

    situated within easy driving distances to both New York and Philadel-

    phia.

    The nearest airports are Philadelphia International Airport, Newark

    Liberty International Airport, and JFK International Airport.

    CAMPUS

    Rider University features two campuses. The 280-acre main campus

    in Lawrenceville is host to forty-one buildings, athletic fields, tennis

    courts, indoor swimming poor, and lake. The 23-acre Westminster

    campus holds thirteen buildings and is located in Princeton, NJ. All

    rooms are en suite with a desk, armoire, set of drawers, and a bed.

    They are conveniently located on campus and easily accessible to

    classrooms, dining facilities, and other campus amenities.

    Students will stay in one of the following en suite accommodations:

    Ziegler and Hill Halls

    It features three people bedrooms with a shared bathroom, each pod includes a shared living room area. Some pods

    feature kitchenettes

    New Building

    It features two people suites and four people private bedroom suites. They include kitchenettes and common area with

    living room furniture

    West Village

    It features four private bedroom suites or three private bedroom suites. They include kitchenettes with common area

    with living room furniture

    Non-en suite

    Single occupancy rooms with communal bathroom. Ratio of four students to one bathroom

    CENTER FACILITIES

    Classrooms

    Classroom lessons are held on campus in academic buildings

    equipped with modern technology.

    Cafeteria

    Dining at Rider is located in Dalys Dining Hall and students

    can enjoy a wide variety of menu selections ranging from

    vegetarian to meat entres, fruits and desserts in a buffet

    style setting. Special arrangements are available for both

    medical and religious dietary restrictions.

    Laundry Facilities

    Laundry machines are provided free of charge, but partici-

    pants must supply detergent.

    Lounges

    A big-screen television, billiards, and table tennis are located

    in the lounges of your Residence Hall to use at your leisure

    until curfew.

    Computers

    Group participants will have scheduled access to a computer

    lab for purposes of sending and receiving e-mail, skyping,

    typing and printing.

    ATM Machines

    Three (3) Automated Teller Machines are located throughout

    Riders Campus *Service charges may apply (part of the MAES-

    TRO, CIRRUS network)

    First Aid

    First Aid is available for all participants upon request.

    DAY TIME ACTIVITY PROGRAM

    At least two afternoons a session on campus allow for use of

    scheduled indoor swimming pool, soccer fields, crafts, and

    recreational activities. Students are free to use the campus

    facilities when they are not in use by other people.

    MEAL PLAN

    Students eat buffet style in the Daly Dining Hall. Meals are varied, and it is possible to accommodate dietary and

    religious restrictions.

    BREAKFAST: Breakfast includes hot buffet variety, assorted cereals, fruit, coffee, tea, and juice.

    LUNCH: Lunch includes hot and cold buffet variety, sandwich options, a salad bar, a dessert bar, and soda and juice.

    DINNER: Dinner includes several hot and cold buffet varieties, a salad bar, a dessert bar, coffee, tea, juice, and soda.

    LIVING ON CAMPUS

    Accommodation

    Students will reside in one of the following residence halls during their stay: New Building, Ziegler Hall, Hill Hall, and

    West Village.

    Linens

    Participants will each be given a set of linens to include the following and will be changed weekly:

    1 Set of Flat sheets

    1 Blanket

    1 Pillow and case

    2 Bath Towels1 Washcloth

    Room Cleaning

    Common areas of rooms will be cleaned three (3) times a week (i.e. bathrooms, kitchens and sitting areas) Common

    areas in the Residence Halls will be cleaned daily (i.e. lobby, lounges, and hallways). For security and privacy, cleaning

    Staff will never enter or clean bedrooms.

    *All personal items should be kept in locked bedrooms.

    Laundry Facilities

    Washers and dryers are located in each Residence Hall and are operated free of charge. Detergent and dryer sheetswill NOT be provided, but can be purchased on campus in the C3 Convenience Store.

    Vending Machines

    Bottled sodas, water and snacks may be purchased through the vending machines located in the lobby of your

    Residence Hall and throughout campus. (These machines accept US$1.00 bills and quarters only)

    C Convenience Store

    Located in Daly Dining Hall this store will have hours daily to provide any of the essentials forgotten or desired.

    Snacks, soda, candy, toiletries, batteries, medicine and international calling cards are among the items available for

    purchase.

    Rules and Regulations

    Students must obey all written and verbal rules from Study Tours Counselors. All Pitzer rules and American Laws must

    be followed and will be enforced. Curfew for all participants will be Midnight (12:00 a.m.) unless otherwise stated.

    Counselors will report violations and make recommendations of consequences to the Open Hearts Site Coordinator.

    Safety Deposit Box

    A safety deposit box is available on campus.

    Fire

    Read the rules displayed in the dorms very carefully and note the location of the emergency exit.

    Damages

    Damages made must be paid for. All rooms and common areas are regularly checked for damages, and individuals who

    cause damage to any property on the site will be held liable for the cost of repairs. Refundable deposits of $25 are

    collected from all students for damages on arrival at the site. This money will be returned at the end of the stay pro-

    vided there are no damages to the site. The cost of damage in communal areas that is not caused by a particular stu-

    dent or groups of students will be equally divided among all students residing in that particular area. A $25 fee is

    charged for every lost key.

    International Calls

    International calls require the use of an international calling card or the use of 9-1-800-COLLECT. To obtain an outside

    line for an international call you must first dial 9, then follow the directions on the back of your international calling

    card (the code to dial outside the United States is 011). Each site also has computers available for students to call via

    Skype. Skype calls are the cheapest method of international calling.

    MEDICAL INFORMATION

    If a student is sick or there is a medical emergency, please immediately seek medical care. Students should contact

    their group leader. If necessary, students will be taken to Capital Health System (Fuld Campus) which will need to bepaid for by the student (including transportation). Students are usually taken to the emergency room for care.

    LOCAL TRANSPORTATION

    By Rail

    Trenton Train Station is a ten minute taxi ride from campus and has regular service to New York and Philadelphia.

    By Bus

    Local buses can take groups into Princeton or the Quakerbridge Mall on additional excursions.
