Political Freedom, Religious Tolerance, Personal Integrity; Freemasonry - it's not for everyone! October 2016 Success! Now what’s next? First, I want to thank everyone who helped with or played in the golf tournament this last weekend. Once again it was a lot of fun and good fellowship. Participation was a little down this year with 9 team and 36 players. We also had 10-12 volunteers helping with side games and meal preparation throughout the day. There has been a lot of positive feedback from those who participated and there is already excitement for next years’ tournament. I have not calculated out the final numbers yet however I believe we roughly raised around $1400 in profit. There will be a detailed breakdown of all of the numbers available to anyone who wished to see them. Please let me know if you have any questions. So what’s coming up next? We have several candidates that are ready to go through the degrees and still have a few that are in the middle of the petition process. We will start with the first degree on the night of October 10th. I would really like to see a large number of brothers present as we bring through the next class of candidate. The more brothers that are there to support them through this process the more exciting it is for them. Also we would love to see some old faces back at the lodge, maybe even participate in some of the lectures. The 2nd degree is going to be tentatively planned for November 1st, which is a non-standard lodge night. One other note you may have noticed a small mess in the dining room this past few weeks. For those of you who don’t know, we are going to be building a library in what has historically been the back storage room. The mess is because we had to temporarily move out some of the items that are normally stored in back. We will be starting construction on the new Masonic Library very soon and are very excited about this new project. Anyone who is interested in helping with or finding out more about the project can reach out to any of the Lodge Officers directly. We will be discussing the first construction date at our last meeting in September. We will also be putting on a Widows Dinner sometime this fall, the date is TBD for now but we THE CRAFTSMAN 1 Members who support the Craftsman THE CRAFTSMAN The official Publication of North Star Lodge #23 and Appendant Masonic Bodies is issued with the permission of the most Worshipful Grand Lodge A.F. & A. will be organizing and sending out invitations very soon. The other event I want to make sure is on the calendar is the Kids Expo, where we will once again be running the Free Kids ID Program. The date for the Saint Cloud Kids Expo is October 29th, please add this date to your calendar we can always use extra hands to help get as many kids through as possible.

Once again thank you for your support this year and for all the things you do to help this wonderful organization.

Order of Eastern Star - Granite Chapter Happy Fall! I hope all of you have had time to reflect on the beauty around us as the leaves show their colors.

We have collected a full basket of School Supplies for Anna Maries, which was delivered on 9/6 and they were very appreciative. The basket is still in the Fellowship Hall, so you can still bring your donations in October!

The Area Conference has a new format, and it is very informative and fun! Mark your calendar to plan to attend the next one, on October 15th in Brainard.

This is a busy time of year, and since “many hands make light work”, we really need all of our Sisters and Brothers help. Watch your email for a copy of the minutes for more meeting details.

Plan to attend our next meeting to get in on the planning for the Official Visit of the MN Grand Family in November and two Christmas Parties in December. We have a mystery trip planned and a Social on Sunday, 10/30 (since the Vikings play on

that Monday night we thought it was a good day to gather!).

See the schedule below for dates and times: Monday, October 3 - Stated Mtge. - Honor AM / AP Meeting – 7:30 pm Refreshments: Nancy Fischer/ Roger Taylor Saturday, October 15 - Area Conference, Brainerd 8:00 am Registration; 8:45 Conference, Lunch then Degrees Monday, October 17 – Mystery Trip Get ready to go visiting – should we dress in costume? St. Cloud Shrine Club St. Cloud Shrine club meeting for October will be on Tuesday the 4th at Michaels Austrian restaurant on Highway 10. Meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. with a video presentation from Jim Tuorila on the Freedom Flight-POW/MIA hot air balloon. November is elections for the Club. Anyone interested in joining the leadership line should make it known. We could also use a new Chaplain if someone would like that honor. Non members interested in joining the Shrine are welcome to attend a meeting to find out more.

President, Jason Prodinsky

Past Masters The Past Masters meeting was held on Aug 29, 2016 outside the Lodge door at a sidewalk table. Being the only one there. I read a pamphlet on "What Is Masonry". It was very interesting. So the meeting was not a waste of time.

Basic needs, the basic definition of Economics is, Satisfying your wants and needs. Our wants are infinite. Our needs can be cut to the number of three. Shelter, Nourishment and Reproduction. Using that premise for the Past Masters Club.

Shelter: We have the Lodge.

Nourishment: Our objective is to nourish the Lodge.

Reproduction: We want to help, aid and assist the Master to Raise those interested to become fellow Masons.

For those that are interested and feel the Club was formed to fill the basic needs, our next meeting will be in the last week of December 2016.

Question: Is the Blue Lodge the workhorse of our Fraternity or a Social Club?email"[email protected] 320-333-1489
