Why invest in New South Wales?

Diversity and richness of minerals NSW has a wide range of minerals, including coal, precious metals, rare earths, petroleum and base metals. As a low-cost supplier and a value-adding centre for processed metals and mineral products, NSW is hard to beat as an investment opportunity.

Quality geological information Extensive geological and geophysical mapping carried out by the Geological Survey of NSW ensures that you can save time and money understanding the mineral make-up of a particular area prior to exploration.

Commitment to renewable energies NSW is open for business in renewable energy. The state needs to obtain 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020. To meet this national target, the government is actively encouraging investment in a growing mix of renewable energy technologies.

Reliable infrastructure NSW has an extensive infrastructure that can support mining operations, from mine to road, to rail, to port. Several of Australia’s major port facilities are in NSW, including Newcastle, Sydney and Port Kembla.

Skilled workforce The workforce of NSW is highly educated, with 55 per cent of the working age population holding a tertiary qualification. The workforce is also culturally diverse and multilingual. One in three Sydney residents can speak a language other than English.

International business hub NSW is an attractive investment location, offering a stable political system, open government and transparent laws. Sydney is also home to regional and global headquarters of financial institutions and businesses, making it an ideal base to build your business.
