Description
A self contained Battery pack which can be used for many different applications.
The kit includes a Lithium Polymer Rechargeable battery combined with QI Standard Charg-
ing receiver and PCB Controller Assembly. This provides a self contained contactless re-
charged battery pack for many OEM applications.
LED indication provides the status of Charge with the same interface signals available to a
host microcontroller.

Controller Battery Charging Coil
Operation
The Charge Controller board has direct connection to the charging coil and to the battery, it
automatically charges the battery when the charging coil is energised.
The Charge controller monitors the battery charging and provides CMOS/TTL output signals
and LED indication of charge status.
Output connection to end application /load circuit is available at all times via CON1 and CON3.
Although the QI standard changing coil is supplied, the Charge controller can accept power
from any standard uUSB connection via the uUSB input connector or a direct 5V supply.
WARNING : This product is a Lithium polymer battery with Charge control. It is not a DIS-
CHARGE Controller. The Charge Controller does not control discharge rate or level.
The Lithium polymer battery must not be discharged below 2.75V as recommended by the
Battery manufacturer. (for max performance we recommend maintaining the Voltage above 3V

Application Notes
The Charging pad has a charging side (with the coil printed) this is the side that must be clos-
est to the Wireless Charger (transmitter).
Charging will start as soon as the charging coil (receiver) is correctly positioned and the
transmitter has identified the Wireless receiver charging coil.
The charging current is limited to 500mA so any QI standard charger rated 5W or more will
provide adequate charge, full charge from empty is approx 2-3 hours.
As with all induction the efficiency is dependant on the distance between the two coils. Ideally
<5mm and with no metal objects between them.
This product is ideally suited to being adhered to the inside of an enclosure as a self con-
tained recharging battery pack providing a power source for the product.
An example of this is below where the product is fixed within the RF Solutions Radio Transmit-
ter ,thus enabling a totally sealed finished product….

• Do not over-discharge the battery. Over-discharging can damage the performance of the battery. It
should be noted that the cell/battery would be at an over-discharged state by its self-discharge char-
acteristics in case the cell is not used for long time. In order to prevent over-discharging, the cell/
battery shall be charged periodically to maintain between 3.7V and 4.1V

*The microUSB input connector provides the incoming power for the circuit as well as charging power for
the battery. This has been tested for operation with the receiver charge coil supplied although can be con-
nected to any USB source. It is the users responsibility to ensure that whatever is connected conforms to
the USB standard and ensure that the voltage is within the USB standard.
** note that even when shutdown, the small quiescent current is enough to make the super efficient LED
glow very faintly!
