the Pole, an annual student‐led prayer at schools across
the nation at their schoolʹs flagpole the morning of the
fourth Wednesday of September.
We are making our Hume Lake reservations.
(Interested? Call us quickly.) And Youth Group
members are collecting to fill shoeboxes with gifts for
children in Third World countries through Operation
Christmas Child. They are also continuing to bring
offerings to support the orphans in India, a project our
youth group adopted years back.
We were very blessed to have dinners provided for
both of our September Youth Group nights. It is such a
wonderful dynamic to add that into the night, and in
addition to adding a lot to the time of fellowshipping
together, it really helps the youth coming in straight
from school who donʹt have a lot of time to eat
otherwise. We would love some volunteers who would
like to take lead on a meal. The Youth Group can cover
the cost, but what we need are people to plan the meal,
shop for it, and prepare it in advance and bring it, or
prepare it in the church kitchen, in time for service at
6:30. We usually have 30‐35 people there, counting the
adult help. If you are interested, please call Erick and
Mary Ann. You would be blessed by it, and so would
we. Our heartfelt wish would be to offer a meal every
time we have youth group. We usually have meetings
twice a month, always on Thursdays, but dates vary.
If you would like to help a local young person go to
Hume Lake, please contact us. You can mail checks
made out to TLCF with ʺHumeʺ in the memo to P.O. Box
479, Lockwood, CA 93932, or call us to get more info to
arrange it. The cost to the youth group to send a
participant ends up being about $200, and last year we
took more than thirty‐five local youth plus nine
counselors/drivers. We have never, in the seventeen
years weʹve been doing this, had to turn a child away
because of money. This applies to Hume or to any other
activity. Our intention is that money will never prohibit
anyone from taking part. Your donations and prayers
and support go a long way to help make this possible.
