NEW RELEASES FROM THE FAR EAST The big news in the model car industry this week is that news has leaked out of a whole bunch
of new releases. Beemax heads the bill with 14 new kits (OK, some are just new liveries). Nunu
have four new kits and they will probably be marketed under both the Nunu and Platz brands.
I don’t expect the first ones to be available before late March and I’d be very surprised if we see
them all before the end of December. We all know the quality that these two brands are capable
of, so don’t expect the kits to be cheap. I estimate R950-ish for the Beemax kits, R700-ish for
the Beemax EasyKits and R850-ish for the Nunu products.
However, they (particularly Beemax) seem to be attacking the established brands aggressively,
so prices may come down as a result of economies of scale. On the other hand, who knows
what the exchange rate will do!!
Here is what you can expect to be building later this year – start saving now!
