• Pursuing several opportunities in R&D, namely in the areas of ocean / tidal energy, offshore wind and smart grids

• Shanghai Centre has been positioned as the focal point for technological cooperation between EDP and CTG: 1) New Energy Monitoring System; 2) Support in Distribution and Retail business and technology; 3) Smart Grids demonstration

EU-SYSFLEX – Developing a flexibility roadmap for the EU through 6 demonstrators accross Europe (including PT)

Objectives

• Characterize the needs of a power system with a high share of variableRES (>50%), including which services to be provided and mix ofresources;

• Coordination of centralized and distributed flexibility resources(Storage / Other flexibility resources / System integration)

• TSO & DSO tools for operational control and enhancedtransmission/distribution interfaces

• Market design options for an efficient integration of flexibilityresources in well-functioning wholesale markets

• Develop a “flexibility roadmap” including a study of replicability ofsolutions

• 6 demonstrators: Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Estonia and Finland

LC-SC3-ES-5-2018-2020: TSO – DSO – Consumer: Large-scale demonstrations of innovative grid services through demand response, storage and small-scale (RES) generation

Demonstrate large-scale integration of TSO’s and DSO’s in widely-participated, pan-European electricity markets and platforms by:

• Using a pool of flexibility provided by small- and large-scale assets

• Testing the needs of grid services for network operators

• Engaging consumers via P2P energy trading and blockchain transactions

• Setting up platforms with applications of IoT, AI, Cloud, Big Data
