Geen aansoek sal oorweeg word as dit nie volledigvoltooi is nie. Gewaarmerkte afskrifte van die volgendedokumente moet die aansoek vergesel:

· Kopie van beide ouers se ID-dokument, afskrifvan die leerder se jongste rapport, geboor-tesertifikaat/ID-dokument van leerder, en ’nbewys van woonadres.

Learners from feeder schools don’t have to apply, butthey can register directly during September. Learnersfrom outside our feeder area (if Harties is not the

closest school to your residential address) have to applyfirst and only register when approved.

In 1983 het die skool ‘n matriekklas van 61 leerdersgehad. Sedert 1 April 1992 is Hoërskool Hartbeespoort‘n Model-C-skool, wat beteken dat ‘n regering semi-pri-vate skool ondersteun.

In 1994 het die skool ‘n groot besluit geneem om ‘ndubbelmediumskool te word, onderrig in beide Afrikaansen Engels. Aan die begin van die nuwe skooljaar in 1995het die skool hul eerste Engelse leerders ingeskryf.

Sedert 1995 het die skool baie uiteenlopend geword metleerders van verskillende nasionaliteite en kulture wataan alle skoolaktiwiteite deelneem, van akademici totsport en kultuurgebeure. Met die wye verskeidenheidkultuurgroepe in ons skool, glo ons dat ons leerders ‘nvoordeel het ten opsigte van leerders wat uit‘n nie-dubbelmediumskool kom.

In 1949 the name of the school was changed to “HoërHuishoudskool Martha Human” and in 1967 the new “ul-tra-modern” school with hostel facilities was built againstthe Magaliesberg Mountain. The learners and staff movedto the new school in May of 1967. After 40 years and twomonths of blood, sweat and tears, the schoolreceived a new “HOME”.

In 1970 het die Transvaalse Provinsiale Departement vanOnderwys beheer oor die skool oorgeneem en begin metdie proses om die skool in ‘n behoorlike hoërskool teomskep.

In April 1975 is die naam van die skool amptelikverander na Hoërskool Hartbeespoort. Toe die skool in1978 vir die nuwe jaar begin het, het die eerste seunsby die Hoërskool Hartbeespoort aangekom.

Geskiedenis / History

After the First World War and the Anglo-Boer War, ourcountry was in a very bad state regarding unemploymentand poverty.With the building of the Hartbeespoortdam,people from all over the country came here for work. A lotof these people were families with young children whoneeded education.

A minister, ds van der Horst, was concerned that thedaughters of these families could not extend their edu-cation further than standard five and suggested that theystart with a housekeeping (huishoudkunde) school. Theschool started on the other side of the dam wall on thepremises of water affairs.

Op 15 Maart 1927 het mej. Martha Human, die eerstehoof, die skool met vyf dogters begin. Die HuishoudskoolHartbeespoort word later ‘n volwaardige skool waardogters hul senior sertifikaat kon verwerf.

Graadvoogstelsel / Grade guardians

The learner in a particular grade falls directly below thegrade guardians. In addition to his/her teaching- andadministrative responsibilities, the grade guardianis directly involved with checking school attendanceand learners scholastic progress. The grade guardianserves as an important link between the school andthe parents. Learners are encouraged to discuss prob-lems with their grade guardians. They move with thelearners each year to the following grade.

The Grade 8 Induction Week

This event is organised under the guidance of the SchoolGoverning Body and with the help of the register teach-ers and a facilitating team. In short, it means that thenew Grade 8 learners for a week long function complete-ly separate from the rest of the school. Newcomers areorientated professionally and utterly responsiblyregarding team building, getting to knoweach other and sharing values.The week also includes a hike up the mountain withspectacular views – only in Harties!
