Term 2
How will I be assessed? Term 1 work and e-‐portfolio 40% You will be creating an e-‐portfolio for the duration of this topic via wordpress.com. An e-‐portfolio is a digital a collection of your drawings, thoughts, investigations, discoveries, dreams and reflections. It records your processing and problem solving and is often the source of new inspiration. Your e-‐portfolio is as much a visual record as it is a written exercise...so please include as many photos, sketches, drawings, images and colours as you wish, but don’t forget to record your thoughts and feelings about the images you find or create. Your weekly notes from class discussions and art movement explorations, combined with your own self-‐directed research will help you develop ideas for your final, major self portrait. Your self-‐directed research can be routinely presented on the class blog to your peers as an opportunity to share what you have discovered or feel passionate about. Experimental Exploration of the Human Essence 20% This is an experimental piece providing an opportunity to explore your deeper self, using Rosemary Valadon ‘Goddess’ series as inspiration. This can be a drawing or a combination of drawing collage, montage, photography. Size to be A3 or A2 by negotiation. Self-‐assessment and peer assessment will inform your grade in part. Large Self Portrait 30% A self-‐portrait of an imposing size (600mm x 900mm) using either charcoal (natural or compressed), charcoal pencils or conté pencils. Self-‐assessment and peer assessment will inform your grade. Attitude and Effort 10% In art there is no such thing as a mistake, it is a part of a journey...perhaps not an intended part but nonetheless a valid part. We learn and are most creative in a supportive and encouraging environment and therefore it is expected that you enter the environment with the intention to actively participate, and that you are self-‐motivated, sensitive, supportive and respectful of yourself and peers.
