merry sINaCore It is January and the house is full. Welcome back everyone. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. The park is ready for you to enjoy and have fun. We have new Palm Trees and new paint on our pool. So enjoy. We have resolved the issues with our Coconut Gates. The gate company has been here on site every day in order to try to figure out what was causing the gate to mal-function. Well they think they found the issue and we now have 2 cameras out at this gate to show us what is really happening when we are not looking! If the mal-function continued we will be getting new equipment for the Coconut Gate. Hopefully this will work. We also resolved the front gate issue. Because our equipment is old we are trying to transition to new which would mean wi-fi and things that do not break down so easily. This is an on-going issue that we will correct so that you are all protected and comfortable. I appreciate your patience. We have started to re-do our sewer systems on each home. When you have an issue with backing up and over flowing, it is very inconvenient for everyone. Our Florida Piping Solutions Company that did our water valves will be doing our homes, section by section. They will be putting in new clean outs that will enable you or a plumber to have easy access to the home or the lateral. They will also replace the lateral with new equip-ment. We will be informing everyone when they are coming their way. To keep you updated, the landscapers are on a bi-weekly cutting schedule. They will be here to cut every other week. If you want something extra done to your home you can contact Mario to do the work for you after he is done in this community. Everyone is keeping their homes beautiful. When I ride the park it all looks great. There may be one or two that need help, but this neighborhood is looking good! We are having open houses for 14 Peach this month if not sold. I will let everyone know when it will occur - I hope you will tell everyone and come see the new Siesta.

PV MessagesMessage from MHOA President

reGIs THorNToN Happy New Year and best wishes and blessings this coming year. It looks like we will have a great turnout for the Holiday Dinner (over 200) this year. A special thanks to all of our vol-unteers and all those who participated in making it another memorable time for all. This dinner takes a lot, and I mean a lot, of our volunteers’ time and effort to make this a dinner that our residents and guests don’t forget. The days that these volunteers give is so outstanding, and the work that they do in the HOT kitchen is something that we all THANK YOU for. So residents, when you see these volunteers, please thank them. This is what makes Plantation Village great, it’s people that “step up to the plate” and are known as our VOLUNTEERS! Whether you are a new or old resident, please join in and become a volunteer so that we can continue our many different events that we all enjoy in paradise at Plantation Village. With all our new sporting facilities in the park, we hope everyone takes advantage to either participate or come and watch. There is pickleball, bocce ball, and horseshoes at the intersection of Date and Guava Circle across the bridge. Please come out and join us on New Year’s Eve for the dance starring Rick Brensinger, who brought in the New Year with us last year. On January 25 we have another dance scheduled also. So please come into our Club House and check our calendar for all the events, card games, meetings, and special events. This is located in the back room on the bulletin board near the Library.

PV UpcomingBingo Bulletin

Well, here we are going into another year 2020, sounds like the TV show. We, the volunteers, would like to say to all, “We want to wish you and your families a very happy and healthy New Year.” We have had a great turn out so far this season. I would like to see more of you this year playing Bingo. It is not that hard to do, so if you never had played before, come give it a try; I would love to see you come up and join us. I do hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and didn’t drink too much on New Years’ Eve. We have a great time on Friday nights and we do give away some good money. We always have a hot ball or 2, sometimes 3! On Friday nights I would love to see you, so come by and try out your luck. As always, remember HAPPY BINGOING!!! See you on Friday night,

Your friend, Bill Thompson

PV CelebrationsIntroducing Vincent Frazzitta

by Kay Luczak Vinny is a chef at Hyde Park Steak-house on Lemon Street in downtown Sarasota. Vinny, a former vet, is the found-er of “Chefs Fore Vets, Inc.” a non-profit organization combating veteran suicide through food and golf, one of many fac-ets of Vinny’s life. Vinny, who does catering, had me thinking of Valentine’s Day coming up, but there is also an anniversary or Moth-

er’s Day that maybe someone would like to have catered in their home or a park. Wouldn’t that be lovely to spring on your favorite person? Everyone sits back and that wonderful food is made for them. Vinny who started as a dishwasher at 15, is thinking of open-ing his own place called “The Cupcake Cafe & Deli”. He said there will be of course cupcakes and sandwiches and pizza plus chicken waffles with bacon jam and hamburgers with bacon jam. I’m tasting it already, aren’t you?

April 18th of 2015 Vinny decided to take a pedal bike ride. Starting in Maryland he traveled through 15 states and a total of over 2,000 miles. He went through Delaware, Columbus, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Omaha, Nebraska, and Kansas then on to Colorado, Flagstaff, Arizona and all the way out to California. During his travels he stopped at American Legion Posts and VFW Posts. On September 18th 2015 he ended the trail, packed the bike up, shipped it East and took a train home thru Santa Anna River Trail. PCH. The train cost about $400 to get him home. Which I think was probably the most pricey part of his whole trip. When you’re over in his neighborhood (he lives on Coconut) or at Hyde Park, do be sure to stop in and say hi. And, don’t forget when you’re thinking of that special birth-day, or your special Valentine, or just someone you’d like to have a special party for, call Vinny and ask if he’s available. I hope you get that deli going soon, Vinny, I can’t wait to try that bacon jam on chicken and waffles or on a cheeseburger, to me it has to be delish.

Golf Cart Tipsby Rollie Doxey

One of the most asked questions is, “How old are my bat-teries”? Golf cart batteries are expensive, sometimes worth as much as the cart itself. It’s good to know for yourself what you’re looking at. Knowledge is power. Golf cart batteries can be cleaned up and made to look new very easily. You don’t have to put yourself at the mercy of the seller when looking at a used cart as a prospective buyer. Some batteries have stickers with the month and year marked on them. If the stickers haven’t been marked, you still don’t know. The way to know is to look on the lead beside the battery posts. Stamped in the lead will be a single letter and a single number. You may have to clean it off in order to see it. The letter indicates the month of manufacturing. An “A”, being the first letter of the alphabet stands for the first month of the year, January. A “D”, being the fourth letter, stands for the fourth month, April. The number stands for the last digit on the year. So an “8”, on batteries that aren’t swollen, stands for “2018”. If the battery is swelled up, has noticeable wear and tear and possibly awful looking plates when looking inside the caps, is probably a “2008”. But since most batteries are good for five, or six years at the most, you probably won’t find them that old. So if you find a “K6” stamped in the lead, you’re looking at a battery that was built in November of 2016. What would “F9” stand for? I’ll be writing more articles in the coming issues of “The Voice”.(Hopefully, you answered, “June, 2019”!)

Plantation Village Mascotsby Kay Luczak

Here are just a few of the mascots that walk daily in Planta-tion Village. Some of them are much more popular than their masters.1. There is Rocky who is a beagle, who walks with much con-

fidence and never barks.2. Then there is Elizabeth, the party poodle, who is a standard

poodle and is very regal as she walks.3. Buttons, who is a pint-size dynamite, guards the corner of

Harvest and Apple.4. Then we have Chunky Monkey, the chunky Chihuahua. Who

just lays there down on the ground as his master stops and talks to everyone around.

5. We have Samson the long-haired little Chihuahua who thinks he is a giant.

6. I see Gina, the girly girl Shih Tzu, who walks around and prances as a sweet little girl.

7. We have Brianna the golf cart Queen who is the Marshal of any golf cart parade.

8. Chloe the little sweetheart who rides on the cart with mom and dad every evening.

When you see them around the neighborhood give a hearty hello to them as they love seeing people. And remember they are guarding Plantation Village.
