RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE

After your initial warranty expires (refer to the Limited Warranty Insert), Boomerang Tracking Inc. (“BTI”) recommends an inspection of your unit to ensure it is performing properly. There will be a nominal fee for this inspection. For questions or to schedule your inspection, please contact Customer Service at 1.855.9.LOJACK.

To comply with the terms set out in your limited warranty and maintain warranty protection, specific incidents and situations will require a post-installation inspection of the LoJack unit to ensure continued functionality of the unit. GeneRalTo ensure reliable operation, avoid dropping the Key Fob or exposing it to water.

Key Fob batteRyYour Key Fob uses a lithium watch battery (#CR-2032) available from most retail stores and electronic retailers. The Key Fob LED indicator will flash when the battery is low, indicating replacement is required.

Key Fob batteRy RePlacementTo change your Key Fob battery, follow these steps:

1. Open Key FOB

Insert a small coin into the identified slot on the side of the case. Gently pry apart the two halves of the Key Fob. You have now exposed the interior of the Key Fob. You will notice a circular battery retained by a battery holder.

2. RemOve OLd BATTeRy

Push the battery out of its holder using a non-metal tool. Discard the old battery (you can return it to a store that accepts old batteries).

3. RepLACe BATTeRy

Insert the new battery into the battery holder with the + sign facing up. The red LED light on the face of the Key Fob should flash several times immediately after properly installing a battery.

4. CLOse The Key FOB

Reassemble the Key Fob by snapping the two halves of the case together.

Q: WHEN WILL MY RECOVERY DEVICE BE FUNCTIONAL?

A: All of our recovery devices are immediately functional upon installation.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY VEHICLE IS STOLEN IN THE UNITED STATES?

A: If your vehicle is stolen in the United States, report the theft immediately to Boomerang Security Central and the police in the town where the vehicle was stolen. Once you have completed a stolen vehicle report, the police will automatically activate the LoJack unit in your vehicle.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF I CHANGE OR SELL MY VEHICLE?

A: If you purchase or lease a new vehicle, save money by benefitting from our Loyalty Program. Contact us at 1.855.9.LOJACK to make sure whatever you drive stays protected.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT?

A: If your vehicle is involved in an accident and/or sustains damage as a result of an accident, call us at 1.855.9.LOJACK to schedule an inspection for your LoJack device. This inspection is required to ensure that your device is in working condition and to maintain your limited warranty coverage.

Q: HOW DOES THE THEFT NOTIFICATION WORk?

A: With the Alert feature*, if your vehicle moves without your authorization or knowledge (i.e., is driven without the Key Fob present), you will receive an electronic theft notification to the points of contact you provided at the point of sale (emails and phone numbers). When eight hours have passed since the initial notification, the electronic theft notification feature automatically goes into sleep mode. This is a preventative measure so that if the electronic theft notification is triggered inadvertently (e.g., you lose your Key Fob or your Key Fob battery is low), you will not receive repeated notifications. Should you determine that your vehicle has been stolen, follow the procedures in case of theft.

In the event that your vehicle is driven without the Key Fob present, you can reset your Alert feature by simply driving for at least five (5) minutes with the Key Fob present in the vehicle.

I. LIMITED PARTs AND LABOR WARRANTY: Subject to the terms and conditions set out herein, Boomerang Tracking Inc. (“BTI”) warrants that the LoJack and LoJack Alert Tracking Systems (exclusive of batteries and Key Fobs) (the “Equipment”) are free of defects in materials or manufacturing for a period of seven (7) years from the date of installation (the “Warranty Period”) of the new Equipment from BTI or one of its Authorized Installation Companies (the “Warranty”). Subject to the terms and conditions set out herein, BTI warrants that the LoJack C Tracking System (exclusive of batteries) (the “Equipment”) is free of defects in materials or manufacturing for a period of five (5) years from the date of installation (the “Warranty Period”) of the new Equipment from BTI or one of its Authorized Dealers (the “Warranty”). For a period of 90 days after installation, BTI will provide parts and labor or service to repair or replace any part of the Key Fob that proves to be defective in material or workmanship. Key Fob batteries are not warranted by BTI. It is the Customer’s responsibility to replace the Key Fob batteries when the low battery indicator is activated.

During the Limited Parts and Labor Warranty Period, BTI’s only obligation under the Warranty shall be to, at its option, either (i) repair any defects in materials or manufacturing related to the Equipment with new or rebuilt parts; or (ii) replace the Equipment with new or rebuilt Equipment. In every case, it will be the Customer’s obligation to deliver the vehicle in which Equipment is located to an Authorized Installation Company (as defined in the Service Agreement) in order to have the Equipment repaired or removed.

Any replacement parts or Equipment will be covered by the present Warranty for the balance of the Warranty Period of the original Equipment. Every Equipment or part which has been replaced shall become the property of BTI.

II. LIMITED RECOvERY WARRANTY: In the event that neither BTI nor the Police succeed in locating the Vehicle within 30 days following the Service Call for a Vehicle equipped with a LoJack or LoJack C Tracking System and within 48 hours for a Vehicle equipped with a LoJack Alert Tracking System, and the Customer’s insurer indemnifies the Customer for the loss of the Vehicle, the Customer will, upon signing a full release of any right or recourse it may have against BTI, have the option of receiving from BTI: (i) the reimbursement of the Equipment purchase and installation costs , the whole to a maximum amount of $1,000 if the Vehicle was equipped with a LoJack or LoJack C Tracking System, or a maximum amount of $1,500 if the Vehicle was equipped with a LoJack Alert Tracking System, and subject to the presentation by the Customer of purchase, installation and Services invoices in support of the claim; or (ii) new Equipment, including installation, for a Vehicle equipped with a LoJack, LoJack C or LoJack Alert Tracking System ,the whole at no cost to the Customer. This is the only warranty provided by BTI. This warranty must be exercised by the Customer within sixty (60) days following the date of theft failing which it becomes null and void. This warranty applies only when both the theft of the vehicle and the report of the theft occur within the Recovery Area (for information about the Recovery Area, please visit www.lojack.ca/coverage).

III. CONDITIONs, LIMITATIONs AND ExCLusIONs:

The Warranty shall be null and void if the Equipment:

a) is used for a use other than that for which it was intended;

b) has been subjected to improper use, installation, maintenance, or any abuse, or negligence, alteration, modification or adjustment;

c) is used with or attached to equipment or components other than those provided by BTI;

d) has been manipulated or tampered with in any manner by someone other than an Authorized Dealer;

e) has not been maintained and serviced in accordance to BTI’s prescribed maintenance and upkeep programs;

f) is used in extreme conditions;

g) no longer bears its original serial number, or same is altered or removed; or

h) is attached to a vehicle which was involved in an accident or was otherwise damaged.

Upon recovery of a stolen BTI-equipped vehicle, BTI requires an inspection of the Equipment and other BTI Equipments to verify working condition and revalidate the Warranty for the balance of the Warranty Period. A BTI-equipped vehicle that has been stolen and recovered shall not qualify for the BTI Limited Warranty unless the Equipment has been inspected by an AD and the warranty has been revalidated by BTI. Any Equipment that malfunctions after the expiration of the limited warranty will be removed or repaired at the Customer’s expense.

Iv. PuRChAsER’s REsPONsIBILITY: In order for the Warranty to be honored, you must call or visit BTI or an Authorized Installation Company with the original bill of sale for the Equipment together with the present document. For assistance with the application of the Warranty or for the location of the nearest Authorized Installation Company, please contact BTI by dialing 1.855.956.5225, or consult our website at the following address: www.lojack.ca

v. NO OThER WARRANTY: This Warranty constitutes the only warranty granted by BTI and the repair, replacement or reimbursement by BTI in accordance with Section I above shall constitute complete fulfillment by BTI of all its obligations and responsibilities. To the extent permitted by law, BTI disclaims any and all liability for direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages or losses, including the loss of information or profits. No party, agent, employee, representative of BTI or Authorized Installation Company is authorized to modify, extend, enlarge or transfer the Warranty.

Should any applicable statute or law preclude the operation of any portion of this Warranty, the remaining terms and conditions of this Warranty shall remain in effect.

The term “IC:” before the equipment certification number only signifies that the Industry Canada technical specifications were met.
