Evaporation
Evaporation is the process whereby a liquid is transformed to the gaseous state. To achieve this change of state heat needs to be provided.
How Evaporation separates
Evaporation is used to separate water from salts and liquids at different boiling points without any filtration media or membranes.
1. What is evaporation?
EVALED Marketing Approach. November 2015 6
Evaporation is a natural phenomenon, EVALED accelerates this natural process.
The webinar will be focused on:
1. What is evaporation?
2. In what industries is EVALED utilised?
3. How & where is EVALED applied?
4. EVALED: the product
5. EVALED: the “competitors”
6. EVALED: proven success & support
7. How to approach an EVALED project
8. The next step: an analysis by industry
EVALED is utilised in numerous industries ...
Opportunities for numerous applications • Health Care (Pharma , Cosmetics)
• Chemicals (Detergents, Explosives, Adhesives, Colorants)
• Mechanical & ST (Automotive, Aviation, Furniture, Appliances)
• Photovoltaic & Microelectronic • Waste (Collectors, Landfill, Incinerators)
• Biogas & Biofuels • Others (Graphic arts & Printing)
Opportunities for specific applications • Food & Beverage • Others (Pulp & Paper, Textiles)
• Power (Coal, Gas, Solar, Nuclear)
• Oil & Gas (Upstream, Downstream)
• Mining & Primary Metals (Steel, Copper, Aluminium)
2. In what industries is EVALED utilized?

2. In what industries is EVALED utilised?
EVALED Marketing Approach. November 2015 9
We have created a matrix which lists, for each of these industries:
• Segments;
• Applications;
• Parameters to control;
• Other useful information.
• This matrix analyzes, in detail, where and how EVALED is applied in all applicable industries. An example of the EVALED industry matrix as applied in
the Health Care industry.
The webinar will be focused on:
1. What is evaporation?
2. In what industries is EVALED utilised?
3. How & where is EVALED applied?
4. EVALED: the product
5. EVALED: the “competitors”
6. EVALED: proven success & support
7. How to approach an EVALED project
8. The next step: an analysis by industry
Evaled is a “top of the
pyramid” solution
offering industrial
wastewater treatment
either in combination
with other technologies
or on its own.

Advanced systems Actiflo, MBBR, MBR,
UF,RO
Traditional systems chemical / phisical or biological
No internal tratment / no external collection
treatment efficiency high low
• To reduce waste disposal costs.
• To avoid closing down plants owing to their non compliance with discharge regulations.
• To treat new and more challenging elements.
• To recover valuable raw materials.
• To reduce the running costs of existing treatment plants.
• To meet the environmental requirements for new certifications ((EN) ISO 14000).
• CO2 Certificates (CO2 Footprint).
• To obtain installation permission for new plants (ZLD request).
3. How & where is EVALED applied?
EVALED Marketing Approach. November 2015 12
Main drivers:
When is EVALED a good idea?
• To separate water from waste water (>80% water) containing salts, oils or detergents.
• To treat concentrate from UF/RO
• To treat blow-down of water circuits (gas scrubbers, cooling towers)
• With non biodegradable organic compounds with a high COD.
• To recuperate precious materials within the waste water.
• To separate some problematic elements (B, F-, etc.)
3. How & where is EVALED applied?
EVALED Marketing Approach. November 2015 13
When is EVALED NOT a good idea?
• Where waste can be freely / easily disposed.
• Where chemical / physical or biological processes adequately cover the needs.
• To treat sludge in biological processes.
• For municipal wastewater (except landfill leachate & anaerobic digestate).
• Where the water has a high solvents concentration
• With capacities exceeding 500 tons / day (100 gpm) (NB: for 10-500 tons/day it is ideally applied in tandem with membranes, for <10 tons/day it is generally used alone).

As Unit Operation • final concentration after UF, RO
• For ZLD (OPUS)
• within complex plant (chemical-physical or biological) for small problematic streams
As Stand Alone • Disposal cost reduction
• By-products recovery
Storage tanks levels controlled by the EVALED PLC
Simple Pre & Post treatment: settling, flotation, filtration, UF, RO, AC

What we can achieve?
• An outlet made up of:
• 5-10% concentrate
• 90-95% distillate (a low conductivity
water with some volatile elements, it can be reutilised).
• Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).
• Disposal cost reductions: EVALED can achieve Pay-back periods of less than 1 year.

The initial steps ...
Step 1: Find the opportunities:
Don’t be afraid! We will support you.
Step 2: Qualify the project:
• Verify that none of the scenarios where EVALED “is NOT a good idea”
apply.
• Ensure “traditional” alternatives don’t adequately cover the needs.
• Ensure the customer is aware this is a capital intensive project.
• Verify whether you can differentiate from the competition.
7. How to approach an EVALED project

7. How to approach an EVALED project
EVALED Marketing Approach. November 2015 31
The detailed steps ...
Step 3: Initial analysis:
• Supply base data (flow rate & liquid to be treated). • Describe the production process & current treatment. • Define the customer’s aims / targets. • Estimate the disposal (and electricity) costs.
Step 4: Detailed analysis:
• Fill in all parts of the data collection form (allow us to define if a standard or engineered solution is required).
Step 5: Simulated analysis:
• Lab feasibility study : Allows determination of distillate - concentrate percentages and mass balance.
• Pilot plant: A (small) unit installed on site.
