• Proficiency of all students in 2007 ranged from a high of 58.8% in 5th grade to a low of 36.9% in 6th grade.
• Increase in performance in grades 4, 5, and 8. Decrease in performance in grades 3 and 6, and marked decrease in grade 11.
• Lowest proficiency among students transitioning from elementary to middle school and middle school to high school.
Reading Proficiency
• Proficiency of Caucasians and Asians consistently higher than other groups.
• Decreased proficiency of Caucasians in grades 3, 6, 7, and 11. Increases in grades 8 and 9.
• Asians proficiency increased in grades 5, 7, and 8 and decreased in grades 3, 9, and 11.
