Dear Doctors and Therapists,

Health Optimisation Devices (HOD) distributes a range of innovative, natural products with real therapeutic effects. These nutritional supplements are based on scientific evidence and offer real solutions to many of the diseases and degenerative conditions that are prevalent in our society but can be difficult to treat using traditional medicine and alternative therapies.

The LIPOSOME PRO LINE range consists of products that have been designed using liposomal technology. This new way of delivering treatment involves encapsulating the active substance in protective liposomes. These allow them to act directly on cells. The active substances are coated in a phospholipid layer and are consequently not affected by the various enzymes or digestive juices. They are carried by the blood into the deepest recesses of the body where they can then merge with cell membranes. Liposomes release their active substances directly into cells, giving them a targeted effectiveness because they are able to act directly in the heart of the cell.

The other nutritional supplements from HOD have specific effects on major diseases such as: Parkinson’s disease (A-Tremorine, S-adenosylmethionine SAME), diabetes (Berberine) or cancer (Phycosens).

The minerals (Zinc lozenges, Magnesium, Selenomethionine) and vitamins (B-Vitamins Complex) in the range have all been linked to organic carriers selected to maximise their bioavailability.

Products based on kelp and algae are also included because of their detoxifying properties (Metout) and their energising, anti-inflammatory and oxygenating effects (Phycosens).

The entire range is fully compatible with specific diets (vegetarian, vegan etc.) and with all other (chemical or natural) treatments and therapies.

All the ingredients have been carefully selected to avoid creating new sources of pollution. The products contain no toxic additives or sweeteners and no allergenic substances such as gluten or lactose, and they are free from trace amounts of heavy metals.

Their completely natural formulations have been carefully designed by a sophisticated medical and scientific team to prevent undesirable effects and dependency.Intr

A dose of 2 g of vitamin C per day promotes good health and good resistance to infections. An intake of 2 to 4 g daily leads to an improvement in physical and intellectual performance and increases longevity. For patients with specifi c diseases, doses need to be signifi cantly increased. The awful truth is that at least 1/3 of the population (even those who are in good health) are vitamin C defi cient.

Indications for treatment with Liposomal Vitamin C +: A: Nervous system : Stress – Depression – Alzheimer’s disease - Anxiety • Stress: one of the most damaging infl uences in our modern society. • Depression: all problems associated with the nervous system may be partly attributable to vitamin C defi ciency

because these are similar to the fi rst clinical symptoms of scurvy. • Alzheimer’s disease: vitamin C appears to dissolve the amyloid plaques that form in the brain during development of

Alzheimer’s disease.

B: Immune system : Blood count - White cells and antibodiesVitamin C is useful in all infections: bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic or yeast infections, because: • White cells contain the vitamin in large quantities, almost 60 times more than blood plasma. A defi ciency can

therefore affect the number and effectiveness of white cells. • It is essential for formation of antibodies and allows improved mobilisation of white cells in general and

neutrophils in particular.

C: Support and action in cancer : • Vitamin C has a similar molecular structure to glucose, which is the primary fuel for cancer cells. To enter cells,

it uses the same receptors as glucose itself. In high concentrations it begins to compete with glucose. The glucose concentration in malignant cells starves and weakens them by depriving them of their preferred energy source.

• Vitamin C reinforces the effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It protects healthy cells from the destructive effects of anti-mitotic agents and reduces the toxic effects of chemotherapy.

D: From a general perspective : • Whatever the reasons (anaesthetic drugs, stress, pain, gastrointestinal disorders), patients undergoing surgery have

much lower vitamin C levels.

• Vitamin C is involved in collagen metabolism, which is part of scar formation.

• It is the cornerstone of any antioxidant regime because it protects cells from free radicals.

• It acts in synergy with vitamin E (which is fat soluble).

• It allows recycling of glutathione (another important antioxidant).

• It contributes towards neutralising certain pollutants: alcohol, pesticides, aromatic hydrocarbons, toxins produced by mushrooms such as death cap mushroom (amanita phalloides).

• It traps or chelates certain metals: lead, mercury, aluminium etc. and contributes towards their elimination.

Background information on liposomal technologyPeople are talking about “liposomal” technology more and more. Words such as “lipospheres” and “encapsulation” are also used to refer to these new products which are protected by a layer of phospholipids.Whatever the active substance, it is encapsulated within a lipid layer. This allows it to resist attacks from the various enzymes involved in digestion and pass unharmed through the acidic gastric juices in the stomach. The active substance can then be easily carried by the blood directly to the cells that need it.

The cell membrane, which is mostly made of phospholipids (fatty acids), has an affi nity for other fatty acids. The phospholipid capsule surrounding the liposomal products is therefore attracted and then digested by the cell membrane. Once it has been dissolved into the membrane, the liposome releases one or more active substances into the heart of the cell.A large number of clinical studies have shown that active substances manufactured using the liposomal approach are much more effective than other delivery methods such as capsules or gel capsules or even intravenous infusions! Some doctors who work with this type of vitamin C estimate that 5 or 6 grams of liposomal Vitamin C are more effective than 50 grams of Vitamin C when delivered intravenously. Some of them say that active substances that are taken in a liposomal form achieve a bioavailability of almost 98%.

The characteristics of a good liposomeMany different products can be encapsulated to maximise their effectiveness, but the liposomal layer that contains them also needs to have certain specifi c characteristics. Some types of liposomes are usually made of lecithin. Lecithins consisting of phospholipids, fatty acids and oils (triglycerides) can be extracted from soya beans and also from egg yolk, sunfl ower seeds and colza. The proportions of phosphatidylcholine may vary from one type of lecithin to another, ranging from 25% to 96%. Lecithins with a very low level of phosphatidylcholine will have a weak therapeutic effect. The standardised lecithin used to manufacture our products consists of 96% phosphatidylcholine. These liposomes are therefore very easy for cell membranes to assimilate.

The size of the liposomes also has an effect on the rate of absorption and consequently on their effectiveness. Small liposomes are better for intrabuccal absorption (via the capillaries under the tongue and inside the cheeks) and are therefore absorbed more quickly and penetrate deep into tissues.

LIPOSOMAL VITAMIN C + Liposomal Vitamin C is a liquid vitamin C product which is made in the form of a liposome. As we have already explained, this way of encapsulating products offers a number of benefi ts and can increase their bioavailability to as much as 98%.

Background information:Vitamin C was discovered in 1912. Many studies have been carried out on this vitamin, which was used by leading doctors and researchers throughout the 20th century. Thanks to the work of Casimir FUNK, who discovered the vitamin, to Linus Pauling (who won Nobel Prizes for both Chemistry and Peace) and Mathias Rath, no further evidence is needed of the therapeutic effectiveness of vitamin C.

A proven defi ciency with a daily intake of less than 10 mg quickly leads to death from scurvy. Complete exhaustion of vitamin C reserves can lead to the degradation of connective tissues throughout the body, especially in blood vessels. A daily intake of 10 to 60 mg results in a slow death from a wide range of diseases. Consuming 60 to 100 mg of Vitamin C per day makes it possible to lead a normal life, but degenerative and other diseases and frequent illnesses will probably occur.

Advice on the use of Liposomal Vitamin C + :

Reminder : 1 teaspoon of Liposomal Vitamin C = 1,55 ml = 1 g of liposomal vitamin C, which is equivalent to 20 grams of vitamin C• General use – Stress – Depression – Anxiety: recommended dose:

2 doses of Liposomal Vitamin C daily ie 3,10 ml.• Surgery - Convalescence - Recovery – Alzheimer’s Disease and during

the preoperative, perioperative and postoperative periods: 2 doses of Liposomal Vitamin C twice daily.

• Whether an operation is actually carried out or not, the recommendation also applies to all forms of trauma, injuries, contusions and fractures.

• Benefi ts and effects in cancer (together with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy): 2 doses of Liposomal Vitamin C 3 times daily..

NB : Liposomal Vitamin C can be combined with all other medicines or other nutritional supplements. It causes no side-effects and it can be recommended to everyone.Composition : Per 1 ml : * Sodium L-ascorbate (88,88 % vitamin C): 245,00 mg* Soy lécithin (Glycine Max’ extract): 95,00 mgAscorbic acid, Glycerol, Purifi ed waterPackaging :Bottle containing 109 ml (liquid product).

LIPOSOMAL DHA +

DHA is one of the fatty acids in the Omega 3 family. It is mainly found in oily fi sh such as salmon, tuna, herring, sardines and mackerel.

A brief reminder of the classifi cation of fatty acids

Saturated fatty acids, which are considered to be harmful, are mainly of animal origin. Unsaturated fatty acids are divided into two main categories: monounsaturated fatty acids [the primary one is oleic acid or omega-9 (Ω-9) which comes from sources such as olive oil] and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Polyunsaturated fatty acids include omega-6 type fatty acids (Ω-6 = linoleic acid, found in many vegetable oils) and omega-3 (Ω-3) type fatty acids including -linolenic acid (in some vegetable oils such as fl ax seed, linseed, hemp seed etc.), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

General information on coenzyme Q10

Everyone now knows about coenzyme Q10, which is one of the essential fuels for mitochondria. It has been used for a long time as a food supplement to support the activity of muscle cells, particularly those in the cardiac muscle. Muscle cells contain extremely large numbers of highly active mitochondria, because these organelles are responsible for generating the energy required for the cells and the body as a whole to function. This natural molecule is also an important antioxidant, which is particularly useful in terms of its effect on cholesterol, of which it prevents the oxidation and subsequent deposition on the arterial walls.

Concentrations of coenzyme Q10 begin to fall from the age of 20, becoming virtually non-existent by about fi fty years of age.

The reduction in this coenzyme therefore increases the risks of heart disorders, weakness and muscle wasting. It accelerates general ageing, leading to a loss of effectiveness of the immune system and a decline in general vitality.

In view of these factors, it is clearly absolutely vital to maintain adequate levels of coenzyme Q10 in the body in order to benefi t from its disease-preventing effects and to remain as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

The usefulness of encapsulation technology for coenzyme Q10This technology of encapsulating active substances within a liposome is known to help these active substances to penetrate cell membranes, which are mostly made of phospholipids (fatty acids), because fatty acids tend to attract one another.

This is all the more true in the case of coenzyme Q10, because it has a natural affi nity for lipids. This is why it is generally advised to take food supplements based on coenzyme Q10 with a meal to improve its assimilation.

Indications for treatment with Liposomal CoQ10- Cardiac or circulatory disorders: arrhythmias – heart failure - hypertension – high cholesterol – atheromatous

plaques.

- Anti-ageing: protecting cells from free radicals – improved oxygenation of cells and therefore of the body as a whole - protection of intellectual faculties and protection against neuronal degeneration.

- For the muscles: loss of power and poor muscle tone.

- Immune system: improves the body’s defensive immune response.

- Metabolism of sugars and weight gain: taking coenzyme Q10 can be helpful in cases of diabetes, either with or without overweight – weight stabilisation after a diet.

- Periodontal disease and gingivitis: periodontal disease and gum infl ammation, with or without gum retraction - tooth decay.

- For sports: to achieve increased energy, endurance, improved muscle tone - reducing aching and stiffness.

Advice on the use of Liposomal CoQ10 +:

The α-linolenic acid (omega-3) supplied is only transformed into EPA and then into DHA if the quantity of omega-6 (linoleic acid) in the diet is not too high, since the same enzymes are responsible for converting omega-6 into gamma-linolenic acid and omega-3 into DHA. The optimum balance of fatty acids in the diet should be 4 Ω-6 to 1 Ω-3. Paradoxically, Ω-3 fatty acids are only present in our modern diet in very small quantities. The ratio of Ω-6 to Ω-3 is frequently 15 or 20 to 1. Due to the excess Ω-6 present, competition for the enzymes is fi erce and it is therefore very diffi cult for our bodies to convert Ω-3 to DHA. Nutritional experts recommend a daily intake of at least 200 mg of this nutrient, but consumption is far below these levels. It is possible to obtain the most essential Ω-3 fatty acid, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) through consumption of oily fi sh.

Indications for Liposomal DHA +

- Cognitive and brain function

- Brain and central nervous system integrity

- Prevention of degenerative disorders: Alzheimer’s disease

- Retinal function and prevention of ARMD

- Cardiovascular protection

- Pregnancy, development of the nervous system in the fetus and young child

- Prevention of premature birth

DHA, essential for the brainThe omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA represent 21 to 36% of the fatty acids in cell membranes throughout the body, but their proportions vary hugely depending on the type of tissue. In mammals, the tissues that contain the most DHA are the retina (19.5%), the testes (8.7%) and the brain (7.2%). The main fatty acid in the brain is DHA, which accounts for 10 to 20% of all fatty acids. As for EPA, it only represents less than 1% of total fatty acids.

• DHA both acts as a structural element in membranes and also has functions in neurons and consequently in synapses. It gives neuronal cell membranes the fl uidity they require to ensure that the electrical impulses in cerebral circuits can be properly transmitted.

• In adult life, the brain consists of 60% fatty acids, of which 14% are omega-3, comprising 97% DHA.

• DHA is integrated in the nervous system from the third trimester of fetal life and then within the fi rst few years of life. The fatty acid is essential for its growth and consequently for its proper functioning. This nutrient, which is required for formation of the brain and eyes of very young children, has to be supplied in breast milk because the body is incapable of synthesising it at this age.

• DHA also ensures an effective supply of glucose, which is the principal fuel in the brain.

A number of studies have shown that regular consumption of DHA makes it possible to slow cerebral ageing and reduces the risks of Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of dementia etc.

DHA: essential for retinal function The retina is a tissue with a high DHA content of approximately 20%.• It has an essential role in ensuring that light impulses are correctly converted into nerve signals (photo-transduction) and

supports the sensitivity and adaptability of the eye to light.

• The concentration of DHA is important in the outer segments of photoreceptors. It is considered to have an anti-apoptotic effect, and it is the only fatty acid that is able to ensure the survival of these cells and reduce markers of cellular apoptosis.

• It has anti-ischaemic effects and reduces the pressures on the retina resulting from ischaemia.

• The DHA in the outer segments of photoreceptors has an anti-infl ammatory effect and competes with arachidonic acid at the level of the enzymes responsible for production of eicosanoids.

• It is useful in prevention and reducing the risk of macular degeneration (ARMD).

DHA and cardiovascular protection

The benefi cial effects of omega-3 fatty acids on cardiovascular health are well documented. It is known to act primarily by: 1. Reducing arterial blood pressure.

2. Improving the heart rhythm. (DHA>EPA)

3. Reducing the risk of thrombosis.

4. Reducing infl ammation in arterial walls.

5. Reducing the levels of certain fats in the blood, notably triglycerides, which increase the risk of cardiovascular disorders.

6. Making the arteries more supple.

Pregnancy, fetal development and early child developmentDHA is needed for the development of the structure of the fetal brain, including intelligence and visual acuity. • During pregnancy the fetus receives up to 2.2 grams of essential fatty acids (omega-3 omega-6) each day, either from

maternal reserves or from maternal nutrition. This is only available if the diet includes these nutrients in suffi cient quantities.

• Maternal DHA supplementation promotes a higher intelligence quotient in the child. Other benefi ts are also reported, such as a reduction in allergies.

• The fi nal three months of pregnancy are a critical period which requires special attention because the fetus has a high and continuous requirement for DHA. This is estimated to be 50 to 60 mg per day. At this time the fetus is unable to synthesise enough of the fatty acid to meet its own needs. The main source of DHA is from the mother, and it is transferred across the placenta.

• A number of studies have shown the benefi ts of DHA supplementation in high quantities in pregnant women in helping to prevent premature birth. Each year 65,000 babies are still born prematurely in France.

The advantage of Liposomal DHA +Liposomes are microscopic spheres made of a phospholipid bilayer encapsulating the active substance, in this case DHA.

The central nervous system is protected by the blood-brain barrier, which is responsible for allowing the nutrients and minerals that are useful for brain function to pass through it. Liposomal technology ensures that the active substance can penetrate effectively deep into the brain.

Reduction in glutathione levels due to ageing

• From 0 to 20 years : 10% lost • From 21 to 30 years : 15% lost

• From 31 to 40 years : 25% lost • From 41 to 50 years : 34% lost

• Over 51 years : 40% lost

Indications for treatment with Liposomal Glutathione :• Neurodegenerative diseases : Multiple sclerosis – Alzheimer’s disease – Parkinson’s disease: ageing inevitably results in

a signifi cant fall in glutathione levels, which is directly linked to these neurodegenerative disorders.

• Cancer : glutathione is able to eliminate a number of carcinogenic factors and plays a part in optimising the immune

system => an important role in the fi ght against cancer.

An adequate glutathione level can protect healthy cells from the harmful effects of damaging medical treatments

(chemotherapy: hair loss and vomiting).

• Cardiovascular system : prevents oxidation of fatty acids in the blood, including cholesterol. Slows the formation of

plaques in the arteries, which is an underlying cause of most cardiac problems.

• Diabetes : diabetics are more susceptible to infections, problems with the circulation and therefore also to heart problems,

kidney disease and blindness. Glutathione offers protection from the complications of diabetes.

• Respiratory system : Asthma - Chronic bronchitis - Emphysema - Pulmonary fi brosis: doctors use medicines that are

glutathione precursors in many lung diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and pulmonary fi brosis.

• Gastrointestinal system : Gastritis – Gastroduodenal ulcers – Pancreatitis – Infl ammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease)

– Hepatitis (A, B and C): provides protection against infl ammation caused by gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcers, pancreatitis and forms of infl ammatory bowel disease such as Crohn’s disease.

• Liver : the main organ that stores glutathione. Glutathione is defi cient in alcoholic hepatitis and in viral hepatitis (A, B and

C). In these situations, raising glutathione levels restores liver function.

• Renal system : patients with kidney disease or who are on

dialysis have high rates of oxidation due to stress and reduced levels

of glutathione. Supplying glutathione helps to prevent anaemia.

• Pregnancy : crucial role during pregnancy in development of the fetus and placenta. Glutathione acts in the placenta by detoxifying it, removing pollutants before they can affect the

developing baby. A number of complications in pregnancy have been

linked to low levels of glutathione.

• HIV : Low levels of glutathione are directly correlated with limited life expectancy in patients with AIDS.

• General health : Stress – Sport (strength – endurance) – Heavy

metal toxicity: higher glutathione levels lead to improved strength and

endurance.

LIPOSOMAL GLUTATHIONE +

Liposomal glutathione + is a liquid form of glutathione manufactured as a liposome.

Background information about glutathione :Glutathione is known as an endogenous antioxidant, produced within the body. It prevents damage being caused by active oxygen derivatives (peroxides, free radicals and oxygenated ions) to important components of cells. Glutathione is found in our bodies in an oxidised form (GSSG) and also in a reduced form (GSH). It is synthesised by the liver. Supplies from outside the body are obtained from fruit and vegetables such as broccoli, fi sh and also from meat.

Free radicals :Our body is made entirely of atoms. If these have a full outer shell of stable electrons, they do not react chemically with other atoms or molecules. Some atoms have an incomplete outer shell of electrons. These are always in search of electrons to reach equilibrium. These unstable atoms that steal electrons are known as free radicals. A stable molecule that donates an electron to a free radical is destabilised and becomes a free radical itself. In this way, free radicals can cause never-ending chain reactions.

Supplying an ion to stabilise free radicals : an antioxidant substance such as glutathione donates an electron to the free radical. By stabilising this molecule it limits oxidative stress, which has disastrous consequences on our bodies.

Oxidative stress caused by free radicals is a natural process which is inherent to all organisms that respire aerobically. Unfortunately, a “bad” lifestyle inevitably results in both endogenous and exogenous forms of pollution, increasing the quantity of free radicals. In these situations the body’s natural defences can easily be overwhelmed. Over-production of free radicals gives rise to the phenomenon called oxidant stress or oxidative stress.

Endogenous antioxidants may be provided by nutrients such as : Vitamin C – Vitamin E – Carotenoids – Polyphenols [Flavonoids: Onions, apples - Catechins: teas - Isofl avones: soya - Anthocyanins: coloured fruits: berries, grapes and derivatives (red wine) - Glucosinolates: cruciferous vegetables, cabbages (broccoli, kale, etc.)]

Other antioxidants are endogenous : this is true in the case of glutathione which is the most important one of all. Glutathione (GSH) is generated within the body by means of a cycle. Its sulfur group (SH) which is capable of donating electrons, allows it to neutralise free radicals.

Thanks to glutathione peroxidase (GPX) and glutathione reductase (GRD), oxidated GSH is continually recycled into active antioxidant.

The roles of glutathione :• It is the most powerful cellular ANTIOXIDANT. It neutralises oxygenated compounds in a few microseconds, protecting

all the cell components (membrane and DNA).

• Recycling of other antioxidants : vitamins C and E.

• Elimination of toxins by making them water-soluble and therefore easy to excrete in bile or urine.

• Elimination of heavy metals.

Recommendations for the use of liposomal glutathione + :

General : recommended dose: 1 dose of liposomal glutathione once daily with a glass of fruit juice. In cancer (with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy): 4 ml twice daily with in a glass of fruit juice.

NB : 2 doses of liposomal glutathione is equivalent to 500 mg of glutathione and 400 mg of phosphatidylcholine.Keep the bottle in the refrigerator after opening.

NB : This nutritional supplement can be combined with all other medicines or other nutritional supplements. It causes no side-effects and it can be recommended to everyone.

Composition : Per 3,66 ml: - Reduced L-Glutathione (GSH) : 451 mg - Phosphatidylcholine: 311.10 mg- Ascorbic acid, Glycerol, Purifi ed water.Weight : 4 532,91 mg

rather rich in fats, why do French people have lower rates of cardiovascular diseases than other industrialised countries ? The answer can probably be found in the resveratrol in red wine.

• Anti-cancer : resveratrol also has remarkable anti-cancer properties. It combats the formation of free radicals, protects DNA from the damage caused by chemical products and neutralises carcinogenic substances in the liver. These were the fi ndings published in the prestigious journal “Science”: resveratrol is active at all three phases of tumour development (initiation, promotion and progression). It kills cancer cells, whether or not they are oestrogen-dependent and blocks the development of bony metastases in certain types of cancer. Other studies have shown that it potentiates the effects of chemotherapy because it protects healthy cells.

• Effects on the brain : another study has shown that resveratrol may help neurons in the brain to survive oxidative stress. The researchers showed that it can reduce the natural process of cell death in the brain by 40%. Hence the interest in using the substance to prevent degenerative diseases (Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s).

Liposomal Curcuma-resveratrol : is a combination of curcumin and resveratrol in a liposomal form. We have explained all the benefi ts of this form of delivery in the introductory section on liposomal products. This technology is all the more useful in the case of curcumin because it is diffi cult to absorb from the bowel, which often limits its therapeutic effects. In this phospholipid or liposomal form, curcumin has a therapeutic effectiveness approximately 20 times higher than the curcumin powder contained in traditional gel capsules.

LIPOSOMAL VITAMIN K2 AND VITAMIN D3

For almost ten years now, vitamin D has often been at the top of the list of defi ciencies said to be caused by lifestyles that fail to meet the needs of the human body, for example due to the lack of contact with nature.

An increasing number of studies are now showing that this vitamin plays a major role in at least 17 different types of disease, including cancer, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, congenital abnormalities, periodontal disease and others. These studies are also showing that at least 50% of adults over the age of 50 worldwide have a vitamin D defi ciency. This defi ciency affects a signifi cant proportion of young adults and also a large number of children.

Sources and forms of vitamin D.The largest contribution of vitamin D normally comes from the skin. When exposed to the sun’s rays, the body synthesises vitamin D3. This vitamin is also found in food. Ergocalciferol or vitamin D2 is mostly present in plant-based foods. Cholecalciferol or vitamin D3, on the other hand, essentially comes from animal products including oily sea fi sh, cod liver oil, egg yolk and in smaller quantities also offal, pâté, mushrooms etc.

Curcumin : The “essential heart of turmeric”Curcuma Longa is a plant in the Zingiberaceae family which is cultivated in India, China and other tropical countries. The dried, powdered root is used as a spice and gives curry its characteristic yellow colour. Since time immemorial this plant has been viewed as protective, anti-infl ammatory, stimulant or aphrodisiac. Standardised extract of Curcuminoides (often incorrectly called Curcumin) is obtained from turmeric powder according to a sophisticated process. The proportion of Curcuminoid extract that is obtained is between 3% and 7%. Integrating turmeric in everyday cooking is therefore an excellent idea, but to have a real therapeutic effect it is preferable to use a well-formulated nutritional supplement in an adequate dose. Briefl y, it takes about 80 grams of turmeric to extract 2.5 grams of curcumin, the active molecule that is needed.

Indications for curcuminoids :• Anti-infl ammatory effect : natural analgesics or anti-infl ammatories are rare. Curcuminoids

are therefore valuable because their effects are comparable to those of anti-infl ammatory medications. They achieve this without causing gastrointestinal problems or having an adverse effect on the heart. Curcumin does not harm the stomach lining.

• Anti-cancer effect : curcuminoids neutralise free radicals and limit damage to DNA and tissues. This anti-cancer effect can be explained by the fact that the active substance inhibits angiogenesis (preventing the formation of new blood vessels), infl ammation and metastasis. When used as an adjuvant to the usual treatments for cancer (radiotherapy and chemotherapy), many studies have shown that curcuminoids enhance their therapeutic effects. They make cancer cells more sensitive to chemical treatments and may reduce the undesirable effects of those treatments.

• Effects on the eyes : curcuminoids are effective in people with uveitis (infl ammation of the vascular wall of the eye) whether this is due to an auto-immune cause or the result of another disease. They can also treat diabetic retinopathy and micro-angiopathy because they improve the circulation of blood within the vessels of the eye and improve visual acuity. Other studies seem to show that curcuminoids have an effect in preventing the formation of cataracts.

• Effects on the brain : curcuminoids may prove to be preventative in Alzheimer’s disease, since they reduce the deposits of amyloid (cerebral plaques) that are seen as the disease progresses.

• Anti-thrombotic effect : curcumin prevents peroxidation of lipids, including “peroxidised” cholesterol, the kind that is deposited on the walls of arteries and poses a risk of blocking them. This benefi cial effect on cholesterol, combined with its anti-infl ammatory and fl uidifying effects, reduces the risk of platelet aggregation and helps to keep the blood fl uid. Curcumin can therefore be seen as helping to prevent thromboses.

Resveratrol : a major ingredient in vines and wineIn viticulture, resveratrol is a natural antifungal. Grape vines synthesise it in huge quantities, in response to infection with Botrytis cinerea. Resveratrol acts as an antibiotic against this organism and strengthens the vine’s natural defences. This polyphenol is located in the skin of the grape, forming one of its natural defences. It is diffi cult to estimate the quantity of resveratrol in wines, since it depends on all the conditions under which grapes are grown and wine is made. There is less and less resveratrol in red wine due to the widespread use of chemical products.

Indications for resveratrol :• Cardiovascular : resveratrol is more effective than vitamin E and even the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that

it reduces cardiovascular risk by almost 40% due to its antithrombotic and anti-cholesterol effects. By dilating arteries it also has a powerful antioxidant effect which slows the development of arteriosclerosis. Resveratrol is also thought to be the cause of the enigma which is referred to in the English speaking world as the “French paradox”, namely: despite a diet which is

Vitamin K2: ensuring strong bones and clean blood vesselsAs in the case of vitamin D, there are two forms of vitamin K. Vitamin K1 (phylloquinone) comes from plant-based sources. In our diet it is mainly found in green vegetables, in some vegetable oils (rapeseed or soya) and in egg yolk (mainly when it is raw). It plays a part in certain aspects of blood clotting.

As for vitamin K2 (menaquinone), it is produced by the body itself, specifi cally by the intestinal fl ora (E-coli bacteria) as long as these are in good condition. Nevertheless, it can also be found in foodstuffs, in fi sh oils, yoghurt, cheese, milk and liver.

Vitamin K2 is able to fi x calcium in the right places!Normally the calcium that is naturally in our diet is deposited in only two places: in bones and teeth. Unfortunately, as we grow older abnormal deposits of calcium may appear in other tissues such as the internal walls of our arteries. This phenomenon is known as arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). This is due to the fact that as the body ages it loses the ability to regulate its calcium balance. The calcium begins to move in the wrong direction, leaving the bones (osteoporosis) and being deposited in the arteries (arteriosclerosis).

Vitamin K2 helps to regulate this balance by fi xing calcium within the bones rather than allowing it to be transferred to the arteries. Better still, the latest research is now showing that vitamin K2 even makes it possible to reverse the phenomenon of arterial calcifi cation, making it the only treatment for arteriosclerosis that is currently known to exist.

Vitamin K2: the anti-ageing vitaminWe have just explained that during ageing, calcium deposits tend to accumulate in soft tissues in the wrong places in the body. At autopsies on older people doctors have noticed a clear lack of suppleness in certain tissues which become «stony» in nature. This non-physiological calcifi cation may be involved in a number of diseases that affect older people. These include renal stones, arthritis, cataract, heart valve insuffi ciency, bone fractures, wrinkled skin, senility and of course arteriosclerosis which affects the vascular system. Re-establishing an optimal level of vitamin K2 helps to offer protection against all these disorders. A number of researchers now therefore see this vitamin as one of the most important nutrients in slowing down ageing.A group of European experts recently reported on the benefi t of supplementation with 100 to 150 µg of vitamin K2 in a population taking the vitamin in the form of natural food supplements.

The ideal solution: bringing together vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 in a liposomal form

We now know with certainty that delivering natural substances in a liposomal form is clearly more effective than other forms of supplementation.

Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 now exist in this new liposomal form, which signifi cantly improves intestinal absorption of these substances and consequently their physiological effects.

As a reminder, liposomes are tiny spheres made of a phospholipid bilayer containing a central aqueous compartment which contains the active substance that is required. This encapsulation process protects the substance from attack by stomach acid so that the product is delivered directly into the blood. It remains intact and is carried directly to cells.

The secret of this new technology lies in the fact that the product is protected by the liposomal microsphere. It does not come out until the phospholipid capsule comes into contact with the lipid membrane of a cell. The active substance remains completely intact and it is therefore carried right into the heart of the cell where it can then do its work!

The various forms of vitamin D are transported and then metabolised by the liver to calcidiol or 25(OH)D3. Next, in the kidneys, it is turned into an active form, calcitriol or 1-25(OH)²D3, which is responsible for most of the vitamin’s benefi cial effects.

The incredible properties of vitamin DIn the past vitamin D was only considered to be necessary for prevention of rickets and osteomalacia. Its role in preventing osteoporosis and neck of femur fractures in older people (when combined with calcium supplementation including pidolate) is now well established.

Nevertheless, the benefi ts of vitamin D go far beyond healthy bones. New and often unexpected effects are being found on other tissues too. The evidence for this has come from some very exciting clinical and epidemiological studies. Vitamin D reduces mortality

Results from a number of studies have shown that vitamin D defi ciency increases the risk of mortality due to cancer, cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. It should be remembered that these diseases are responsible for about 70% of deaths in the developed world.

Vitamin D and the immune system Researchers have also proven that this vitamin plays a part in the process of immunity which protects the body from infections. That is why people with a defi ciency have more frequent colds and infl uenza during the winter. Apart from its effect in stimulating immunity, vitamin D also modulates the immune system by regulating the different elements involved in it. This accounts for its benefi cial action in diseases with an infl ammatory or auto-immune component.

Vitamin D and cancerResearchers have stated that as well as helping to prevent various forms of cancer, this vitamin could also slow the progression of the disease in people who already have it.

Vitamin D and the heartThere is also evidence that even moderate vitamin D defi ciency can increase the risk of cardiovascular problems. It has been found that people with a defi ciency are twice as likely to suffer from a heart attack, heart failure or a stroke, in comparison with people with high vitamin D levels.

Vitamin D and memoryOther results have shown that men with the lowest levels of vitamin D see the greatest decline in their intellectual abilities with increasing age. A team of researchers from the university of Los Angeles has discovered that vitamin D and curcumin are useful in prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Vitamin D and muscle toneThe benefi cial effects of vitamin D on the bones and joints are coupled with an improvement in muscle strength. A study carried out in a residential home for older people showed a 22% reduction in falls among the pensioners receiving vitamin D supplementation.

How to check whether you have a vitamin D defi ciencyAs we have already indicated, vitamin D defi ciency is very common in people living in the northern hemisphere. Statistics have shown that about 80% of the French population are defi cient in vitamin D during the winter.

The only way to be certain about this is to carry out a blood test to measure the level of calcidiol (25(OH)D3) in blood. This should be higher than 50 ng/mL (nanogrammes per millilitre) all the year round, in both children and adults. The ideal level is around 60-80 ng/mL. This indicates that the body has some stores of vitamin D.

NB: many laboratories report a normal value as long it is higher than 30 ng/mL. This level is completely inadequate!

Other laboratories use a different unit, namely nanomoles per litre (nmol/L) rather than nanogrammes per millilitre (ng/mL).

To convert nmol/L to ng/mL, it is divided by 2.5 (e.g.: 125 nmol/L = 50 ng/mL).

Advice on the use of liposomal vitamin D and K2

• The recommended normal dose is 6 drops per day (0.30 ml), diluted in water.

• Six drops of liposomal vitamin D and K2 are equivalent to 3 mg of cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) and 1.5 mg of menaquinone (vitamin K2)

problems (emotional instability, phobias, feelings of insecurity or even schizophrenia) and it also has effects on digestion and prevents some gastrointestinal symptoms.

Vitamin B5 (calcium D-pantothenate 4.92 mg): pantothenic acid is essential for the mechanisms involved in converting fats and carbohydrates into energy, for the immune system and for the formation of adrenocortical hormones. It therefore improves resistance to stress and fatigue. Vitamin B5 is useful in skin problems (fungal infections and herpes), promotes skin healing and preventing hair loss.

Copper (copper L-aspartate 3.09 mg): As a cofactor in superoxide dismutase, copper counteracts free radicals and therefore helps to protect cells from attack. Its anti-infl ammatory effects are well known, and it is used for rheumatic disorders, including some winter ailments. It also has an important role in the immune system.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxal-5’-phosphate 3 mg): pyridoxine is involved in metabolism of amino acids and proteins. It plays an important role in all the symptoms associated with the premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy (nausea) and use of contraceptive pills. Like the previous vitamin, it stimulates the immune system and can be useful in some nervous and skin problems (acne).

Vitamin B1 (thiamine chlorhydrate 2.25 mg) and Vitamin B2 (Ribofl avin 0.71 mg): thiamine and ribofl avin are involved in sugar metabolism, since energy from sugars can only be used with help from vitamin B1. Like most B group vitamins, it has benefi cial impacts on the nervous system and also on mood (stress). This vitamin also helps to protect the cardiovascular system and the arteries. B2 is involved in energy production from proteins and fatty acids. It is particularly associated with the eye and vision, and is useful in disorders affecting the mouth, lips or tongue.

Manganese (manganese L-aspartate 1.76 mg): this trace element is part of the structure of many enzymes that are essential to the many physiological reactions required by the body every day, including energy metabolism.

R-lipoic acid (0.75 mg): R-lipoic acid is also a member of this large family of antioxidants. It is able to regenerate endogenous antioxidants, the antioxidant substances produced within the body itself. It provides protection against strokes and other cardiovascular accidents, and also protects the brain and nervous tissues from injury.

Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol 0.60 mg, containing 1.25% or 7.5 µg of vitamin D3): cholecalciferol can be measured in I.U. (international units) or in µg (micrograms), remembering that 1 IU = 0.025 µg. This vitamin is absolutely essential for the formation and strengthening of bones and teeth. It is a fat-soluble vitamin and can be viewed as an adaptogen because it is mostly involved in synthesis of hormones and neurotransmitters. It is therefore very useful in some of the health problems commonly seen today such as burnout, depression, hypothyroidism and other degenerative conditions of the brain and nervous system, all of which result from endocrine imbalances that affect the nervous system.

Vitamin A (retinol palmitate 405 µg – beta-carotene 225.00 µg): this vitamin is essential to vision, but also to the formation of the skeleton (together with vitamin D). It promotes wound healing and is useful in skin problems (acne, impetigo, psoriasis etc.) and helps to maintain skin elasticity. It helps to prevent infections (particularly in the respiratory system).

Chromium (chromium picolinate 295.53 µg): this trace element is vital for regulation of sugars and fats. In many cases it makes it possible to reduce sugar and other cravings and alleviate hypoglycaemic episodes.

Vitamin B8 (D-biotin 150.00 µg): vitamin H or biotin is an essential factor for the metabolism of proteins, fats and sugars. It is useful in hair loss and skin problems (acne, seborrhoea, eczema etc.)

LIPOSOMAL MULTIVIT

Everyone now knows that vitamins are essential to the body, from a very young age and at every stage in our lives. Only a few of these can be synthesised and in some cases stored in the body, but for many of them this is impossible. What is more, the minimum amounts that are essential to allow the body to function as it should are not supplied by our modern diet, which is defi cient in many nutrients even when the food is organic in origin. As a result, the majority of people have defi ciencies and need to take supplements to rebuild or maintain optimum vitamin reserves, since in the medium and long term these vitamin defi ciencies can cause more or less serious health problems.

Like all liposomal products, vitamins which are provided in this form and in adequate doses are extremely easy to absorb. Multivit Liposomé ensures that you receive adequate amounts every day to prevent or even remedy any defi ciencies. This complex allows your body and your whole metabolism to quickly return to optimum functioning and energy levels. Multivit Liposomé is the ideal way to prevent ageing and protect yourself from tiredness and ill health.

As a general rule, vitamins: • cannot be manufactured by the body • each have a specifi c role • are not interchangeable • provide no calories • are effective in very small quantities • are essential to the functioning of the body as a whole

Actions of Multivit liposoméCholine bitartrate (182.93 mg): choline is involved in memory function and prevents memory loss. It is said to have calming properties. It protects the liver by supporting excretion of toxic substances. It also protects blood vessels from fatty build-up and therefore helps to regulate cholesterol.

Vitamin C (sodium L-ascorbate 18.97 mg – L-ascorbic acid 16.88 mg): this queen among vitamins strengthens the immune system. As a result, it prevents and helps to treat all kinds of bacterial and viral infections. It is benefi cial for the skin, supporting healing (by helping to form collagen) and prevents infections. It has detoxifying effects and neutralises the harmful effects of certain forms of pollution, particularly those resulting from smoking. It is an antioxidant and is often given in combination with other antioxidants such as selenium or vitamin E, which helps to prevent the effects of ageing. It can also be very helpful for some male fertility problems.

Zinc (Zinc citrate 13.17 mg): zinc is the cofactor in more than 200 metalloenzymes, so its importance in the physiological reactions that take place in the body can easily be imagined. It is also an excellent antioxidant.

Vitamin E (D-alpha tocopheryl acid succinate 7.59 mg): tocopherol, which is the other name for vitamin E, is a powerful antioxidant. It protects cells, tissues and other minerals (selenium), vitamins (A and C) and trace elements from oxidation. It protects the body against ageing. As a result, it has a protective effect on the heart and on the circulatory and immune systems and helps to combat the effects of pollution and other toxins (food additives). It improves the body’s ability to produce energy (alleviating fatigue).

Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide 6.75 mg): also called niacin or nicotinic acid, has a role in prevention of cardiovascular diseases (it promotes oxygen transport) and it improves metabolism of fats in the blood. It is used for psychological

Vitamin B9 (calcium L-methylfolate 135.26 µg): folic acid is involved in production of haemoglobin (together with vitamin B12). It provides protection against intestinal parasites and poisoning. It is also known to slow hair whitening (in combination with vitamin B5).

Selenium (L-selenomethionine 75.23 µg): this element helps to combat all forms of ageing. It protects the body from cardiovascular disorders, stimulates the immune system and detoxifi es heavy metals, alcohol and tobacco smoke. It is useful for men, since it helps to improve erectile function.

Iodine (potassium iodide 34.68 µg): iodine supplementation is essential today. This is one of the key trace elements involved in synthesis of thyroid hormones, which come under huge pressure in our modern world due to various types of pollution. Iodine activates the thyroid gland and helps to burn excess fat, providing a lot of energy to the body. It improves mental performance and strengthens hair, nails, skin and teeth.

Phosphatidylcholine (Helianthus Annuus extract 150 mg): helps to lower blood cholesterol levels. It improves liver function in the presence of problems such as chronic hepatitis. Improvements have also been seen in some forms of ulcerative colitis after taking this nutritional supplement.

It involves degeneration of the substantia nigra of the neurons responsible for producing dopamine. As a reminder, dopamine is involved in the control and coordination of movements.

The person undergoes a gradual change from normal movements to disordered movements due to falling levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine.

The importance of a correct diagnosis :The diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease is made solely on the basis of clinical examination. The health care professional has to observe the patient and the symptoms that he displays very carefully and bear in mind the triad of symptoms that are specifi c to this disease: tremor – hypertonia – akinesia.

• Tremor in the upper limbs, particularly affecting the hands, mostly occurs at rest. It improves on movement and disappears when the patient is asleep.

• Hypertonia particularly affects the person’s movements when walking. This causes a kind of rigidity and movements that appear mechanical as if controlled by cog-wheels. These “cogwheel movements” mainly affect the fl exor muscles. People who are affected adopt a typical slightly stooped posture due to muscle fl exion.

• Akinesia, which means slowness and poverty of movement, mainly affects the muscles of the face, the lower limbs and the upper limbs.

Of course it is vital to exclude drug-related causes (such as neuroleptics).

There are a range of associated symptoms:

Pain, postural instability

Loss of balance

Depression

Sleeping diffi culties

Intellectual impairment

Severe tiredness

Problems with the autonomic nervous system

Occasional abnormal involuntary movements (dyskinesias).

In this disease, every patient presents with different signs. The evolution of the disease also differs from one case to another,

and depends on a number of factors which are not yet understood.

Unfortunately it is known that Parkinson’s disease actually begins 5 to 10 years before the appearance of the fi rst clinical

symptoms. At that time only half the dopaminergic neurons have disappeared.

If the diagnosis is made correctly, the response to treatment is often spectacular.

Existing chemical treatments The existing allopathic treatments involve remedying the dopamine defi ciency, making it possible to remedy the lack of

dopaminergic transmission.

It involves for producing dopamine. As a reminder, dopamine is involved in the control and coordination of movements.

There are two classes of drugs that do this:

• L-Dopa, which is the immediate precursor of dopamine

• Dopaminergic agonists which act directly on dopaminergic receptors (PARLODEL, REQUIP, DOPERGINE, SIFROL).

As is always the case with an allopathic approach, the pharmacological treatment is based on the principle of substitution,

specifi cally in this case dopaminergic substitution.

This does make it possible to provide treatment with occasionally spectacular results from the point of view of the symptoms,

but it has no effect on the cause or on the development and progression of the disease (gradual degeneration of nerves and

receptors).

The treatment also becomes less and less effective over time and the symptoms become more and more diffi cult to correct !

The natural alternative : A -tremorineA-tremorine is a completely natural nutritional supplement manufactured from the fava bean (Vicia faba). The technological

process used to obtain this powder preserves all the properties of the plant.

Properties of A-tremorine1. An increase in dopamine levels in the blood : in the same way as the chemical medicine but using completely natural active

ingredients with no side-effects.

2. A specifi c neuroprotective effect on

dopaminergic neurons : it can be clearly

seen that the existing treatments do

not slow the degenerative progress of

the disease at all. A-tremorine has a

protective effect on neurons, slowing or

even completely stabilising the progress

of the condition.

RecommendationsIt is advisable to use A-tremorine at the

earliest possible time, before neuronal

degeneration has become too advanced.

Although A-tremorine does protect

neurons and slow their degeneration,

it does not allow them to grow back or

regenerate!

BERBERINEIndications : • Activation of AMPK and maintenance of energy homeostasis• Type 2 diabetes• Dyslipidaemia • Vascular protection • Neurological injuries• Bowel infl ammation and leaky bowel• Cancer

Background information : Berberine is a natural substance produced by certain plantsBerberine has been used for thousands of years in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine because of its antifungal, antibacterial, anti-infl ammatory and immunostimulant effects.Recent studies have shown spectacular effects in metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, and its crucial role in activating a key enzyme involved in metabolism: AMPK.

Therapeutic indications : 1) AMPK (Adenosine Mono-Phosphate Kinase) is a phosphokinase which is present in many tissues and plays a vital role in energy homeostasis. AMPK is activated by Berberine and has multiple effects:• stimulates oxidation of fatty acids in the liver, • inhibits synthesis of cholesterol and triglycerides, • modulates secretion of insulin by beta cells in the pancreas, • normalises energy metabolism, • regulates food intake and tissue sensitivity to insulin.

2). Berberine and type 2 diabetesBy activating AMPK, berberine increases expression of the gene for GLUT-4, a glucose transporter in muscle and fat cells,

facilitates intracellular glucose transport and can lower plasma glucose levels by improving insulin sensitivity.

Berberine has been studied as an adjuvant in type 2 diabetes, with equivalent and sometimes superior results to those obtained with metformin. A recent study carried out in 116 patients with type 2 diabetes who were randomised to receive 1 g of berberine or placebo daily for three months showed a reduction in their glucose parameters: their HbA1c fell from 7.5% to 6.6% and their fasting plasma glucose fell from 126 to 100.8 mg/dl.

3). Berberine and dyslipidaemiaBy inhibiting the activity of acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase, Berberine inhibits synthesis of fatty acids and reduces the level of circulating lipids in the blood:

• reduction in total cholesterol (-23.5 mg/dl), • reduction in LDL-C (-25 mg/dl),• reduction in triglycerides (-44 mg/dl),• increase in HDL-C level (2 mg/dl).

4). Berberine and vascular protectionThe activation of AMPK by Berberine accounts for its vascular protective effects, due to its positive impact on endothelial dysfunction which is the underlying cause of atherosclerosis.

5). Berberine and neurology Berberine protects neurons and increases noradrenaline and serotonin levels while reducing dopamine, which is useful in treatment of depression, bipolar disorders and schizophrenia. Studies have shown that it has a benefi cial effect on the development and progression of Alzheimer’s disease by inhibiting cholinesterase.

6). Berberine and the intestines Berberine protects the intestinal epithelium, which has consequences in leaky gut syndrome, colitis and food allergies.

7). Berberine and cancer A number of studies have shown that Berberine inhibits the growth of many cancers affecting the prostate, breast, pancreas, mouth, liver, bladder, colon, brain, thyroid and cervix, as well as leukaemias.8). Berberine and Zinc excess (Infl ammation)Berberine (500 mg three times daily for 6 weeks) can correct all cases of excess zinc measured using the oligoscan (an appliance that makes it possible to measure defi ciencies or excess levels of vitamins, minerals and heavy metals). From a medical point of view it is recognised that zinc excess may be a sign of (sub)clinical infl ammation and/or linked to non-alcoholic hepatosteatosis, sometimes accompanied by high levels of copper. Non-alcoholic hepatosteatosis is found in people who drink little or no alcohol but still have certain liver disorders. It tends to occur in people who are overweight and have diabetes or who have high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.

B-VITAMIN COMPLEX

The B complex of vitamins are coenzymes which are a vital element in most important metabolic reactions. They have an important part to play in producing energy, including the metabolism of lipids, carbohydrates and proteins. B vitamins are also important for blood cells, hormones and nervous system function.

Since B vitamins are only soluble in water, they are usually not stored in the body in signifi cant quantities (with the exception of vitamin B-12). The body therefore needs a regular supply of B vitamins.

Indications :B-VITAMIN COMPLEX is vital for many people who have a B vitamin defi ciency such as older people, women (in pregnancy or taking contraceptive pills), and people under stress.

Recommendations for the use of Berberine :

6 (SIX) tablets daily for at least 6 weeks. To obtain the fullest effect, Berberine must be taken at a dose of 1500 mg per day.

NB : This nutritional supplement can be combined with all other medicines or other nutritional supplements. It causes no side-effects and can be recommended to everyone.

Composition : - Berberine (97% purity) (Extract of Berberis Aristata):

516.00 mg- Calcium dihydrogen diphosphate- Microcrystalline cellulose – Precipitated silica – Magnesium salts of fatty acids – Colloidal silica – Glycerol - Calcium carbonate – Gum arabic – Xanthan gum – Lecithins

Packaging : Bottle containing 120 Coated tablets.

Vitamin B supplementation is often indicated for many health problems such as nervous disorders, skin and hair related problems, anaemia or fatigue and cardiovascular disorders.

Composition : each gel capsule contains:Thiamine (50 mg) : this is vitamin B1, which reduces the harmful effects of stress and improves well-being. It infl uences carbohydrate and fat metabolism, and energy from these can only be used in the presence of vitamin B1. It improves transmission of nerve signals and infl uences mood. It protects the cardiovascular system and the arteries. Daily requirements are signifi cantly higher when breastfeeding, in pregnancy and for smokers.

Ribofl avin (20 mg) : this is vitamin B2, which aids the conversion of carbohydrates, fats and proteins into essential energy, thereby restoring vitality. It is important for proper eye function and vision. It also has specifi c effects on conditions affecting the mouth, lips and tongue.

Niacin (50 mg) : this is vitamin B3, which has a vital role in producing energy, transmission of nerve signals and synthesis of fatty acids and certain hormones. It has calming, antidepressant and anti-migraine effects, and it is used to combat mental problems (emotional instability, persecution complex, feelings of insecurity). It has a preventative role in cardiovascular diseases (promoting oxygen transport).

Pantothenic acid (50 mg) : this is vitamin B5, which is vital for the production of energy from fats and carbohydrates and is involved in the formation of adrenocortical hormones. It improves resistance to stress, fatigue and infections (because it is involved in antibody synthesis). Many of its benefi cial effects target epithelial cells, such as the skin (fungal infections, herpes), where it promotes scar formation. It acts in synergy with vitamin B8 to strengthen the hair and nails. It has anti-allergic, anti-asthmatic, anti-psoriatic and calming effects.

Pyridoxine (20 mg) : This is vitamin B6, which is involved in degradation and synthesis of proteins and amino acids. It is

involved in metabolism of fatty acids but also has an important role in the conversion of glycogen into glucose, thereby helping

to supply energy to the body. It regenerates red blood cells and the skin (acne).

It supports antibody production and in this way reinforces both the immune system and the nervous system. There is no doubt

that it is linked to all the symptoms related to female hormones, such as the premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy (nausea) and

the use of contraceptive pills.

Biotin (300 mcg) : This is vitamin B8, which is involved in metabolism of proteins, amino acids, fats and carbohydrates in order to

supply energy to the body. It is benefi cial in some nervous disorders, slows hair loss and stimulates the immune system in general.

Biotin is useful in combating a large number of dermatological problems (acne, seborrhoea, eczema etc.).

Folic acid (400 mcg) : This is vitamin B9, which is useful in anaemia because of its involvement in synthesis of red blood cells

and haemoglobin (in combination with vitamin B12). It is useful in emotional disorders. It has a very wide range of uses: treatment

of general fatigue, depression, gout, ulcers, and as an immune stimulant. It provides protection against intestinal parasites and

poisoning, and slows the loss of hair colour (in combination with vitamin B5).

Methylcobalamin (500 mcg) : This is vitamin B12, which is vital for the synthesis and regeneration of red blood cells and iron

uptake, consequently making it a useful agent for treatment of anaemia. It is required for DNA synthesis and is needed to maintain

a healthy nervous system. It is often used in children to stimulate appetite and growth, and as a tonic for older people.

Intrinsic factor (20 mg) : this is a protein produced by the cells of the gastric mucosa and it is essential to allow absorption of

vitamin B12 from the intestines. An intrinsic factor defi ciency can lead to a vitamin B12 defi ciency. Some groups of people and

certain older people are unable to produce intrinsic factor effectively.

Recommendations for the use of B-vitamin complex :

Recommendations for use : Two gel capsules daily.Composition : one gel capsule contains– Vitamin B3: 50 mg – Vitamin B5: 50 mg – Vitamin B1: 50 mg – Vitamin B2: 20 mg – Vitamin B6: 20 mg – Vitamin B12: 500 mcg – Vitamin B9: 400 mcg – Vitamin B8: 300 mcg – Magnesium stearate – Cellulose gel capsule shellPackaging : Bottle containing 60 gel capsules.

MEGAMAGNESIUM

This is the best treatment for magnesium defi ciency.Magnesium defi ciency is becoming increasingly common today, particularly due to increased stress. This defi ciency manifests itself in the form of tiredness, cramps, pins and needles, latent tetany, anxiety, vertigo, headaches and recurrent infections.

Magnesium improves heart function and has a role in ensuring a regular heart rhythm. It is a general tonic which strengthens many biological reactions. It activates the body’s defences in case of infections..

METOUT

Chlorophyll with magnesiumChlorophyll is very useful in detoxifi cation of heavy metals. It removes heavy metals and purifi es the blood and body tissues. It

improves the circulation of blood and facilitates oxygenation in our cells. When chlorophyll is absorbed, an increase is seen in

the number of local capillaries and an increase in local circulation.

Once they have been removed and chelated by Modifi lan, heavy metals have to be eliminated as

quickly as possible by the major excretory organs, which are the liver, the kidneys and the bowel.

Once again it is chlorophyll that supports this work of detoxifying the liver and improves renal

function. It also regulates bowel function and chelates the various forms of waste that are

present within the lumen of the bowel.

Laminaria japonicaThe many properties of kelp have been known for thousands of years. Research throughout

the world has shown that the brown kelp laminaria japonica contains a number of active

ingredients which are of considerable therapeutic value.

A specifi c method of extractionMetOut is the best purifi ed organic extract of brown kelp (Laminaria Japonica), but it is also the most bioavailable, for two

reasons:

1. It is extracted at below 80°C, which prevents destruction of natural microelements.

2. The patented extraction method makes it possible to keep only the central part of the kelp while removing the highly fi brous,

indigestible outer part. It is the central part which is richest in active ingredients. Production of 1 kg of Modifi lan requires 40

kg of kelp.

Four vital active ingredientsLaminaria japonica contains four very useful active ingredients:

1. Organic iodine: which regulates thyroid metabolism and the nervous system.

Recommendations for the use of Magnesium :

Formula pour 4 tablets: - Magnesium glycerophosphate: 720,00 mg - Marine magnesium oxide: 476,00 mg - Magnesium bisglycinate: 400,00 mg - Taurine : 160,00 mg – Vitamin B3 : 25,58 mg - Vitamin B5 : 10,43 mg – Vitamin B6 : 2,76 mg - Vitamin B2 : 2,25 mg – Vitamin B1 : 2,25 mg - Vitamin B9 : 0,35 mg – Vitamin B8 : 0,08 mg - Microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silicaTotal per tablet : 3 371,72 mg.Dose : 4 ablets dailyPresentation : Bottle containing 90 tablets

2. Alginate: which traps heavy metals, free radicals and radioactive substances.

3. Fucoidan: a complex polysaccharide which promotes apoptosis and destruction of cancer cells.

4. Laminarine: a polysaccharide with benefi ts in prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It has 30% of the

antithrombotic activity of heparin.

The effects of these key active ingredients1. Detoxifi cation of heavy metals : the alginate effectively captures heavy metals, allowing mercury, aluminium, cadmium

cobalt and radium and also radioactive substances to be trapped and eliminated from cells. These various toxins gradually

accumulate within our bodies and can eventually cause the diseases prevalent in our society (fi bromyalgia, chronic fatigue

syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, cancers etc.)

Mercury, which is mainly found in dental amalgam, fi sh and pesticides, is 5000 times more toxic to the body than lead. It

mainly accumulates in vital organs such as the brain, the kidney, the liver and the nervous system.

It is now known that the aluminium hydroxide contained in many vaccines is the cause of many diseases such as

macrophagic myofasciitis and Alzheimer’s disease.

Alginate allows smokers to eliminate the strontium and cadmium that are contained in cigarettes.

Alginate is considered to be the best chelator of heavy metals, because it not only traps these toxins but it also helps to

eliminate them from the body entirely.

2. Detoxifi cation of free radicals and radioactive substances: radioactive pollution, X-rays, microwaves,

high-tension power lines, television sets, computers, mobile phones and cell masts all represent sources of harmful

radiation. These rays generate free radicals which increase cell ageing and cause birth defects. They also play a part in the

development of more serious health problems such as leukaemia and cancer.

The harm that is done by these various forms of pollution can be alleviated to a large extent by Modifi lan. This product has

been used successfully to treat some of the victims of the Chernobyl disaster.

3. Prevention and protection

for patients with cancer :

Modifi lan contains fucoidan, which is a complex

polysaccharide. Recent research in Japan has shown

that all the cancer cells in a culture died within less than

72 hours in the presence of fucoidan. This is a kind of

self-destruction, since the DNA in these cancerous cells

is destroyed by the digestive enzymes contained in the

cells themselves. This self-destruction is called apoptosis.

This may help to understand to some extent why the

inhabitants of the province of Okinawa in Japan have the

lowest cancer rates in the whole country. This population

consumes an average of 1 gram per day of kombu,

another kelp which also contains high levels of fucoidan.

Recommendations for the use of MetOut :

Formula :– Laminaria Japonica 266 mg – Magnesium chlorophyllin 114 mg – Magnesium silicate – Marine gelatin shell 95 mg. Total per gel capsule 485 mg.Dose : Approximately 1 gel capsule for each 10 kilos of body weight Recommendations for use : The gel capsules should be taken on an empty stomach with a large glass of water, preferably in the mornings on an empty stomach. Avoid taking the product in the evening, because it has positive effects on energy and may therefore impair sleep quality.Presentation :Bottle containing 180 gel capsules.

PHYCO SENS

The incredible properties of phycocyanin.Phycocyanin is a blue pigment found only in certain algae, specifi cally cyanobacteria, the group that includes spirulina. Phycocyanin is the main pigment that is present in the microalgae Spirulina platensis. It is the only natural blue food colouring licensed for use in Europe.Cyanobacteria are able to carry out photosynthesis, which releases oxygen (like plants). Cyanobacteria can be found in virtually all environments where light, water, carbon dioxide and minerals are present. They are also found in environments referred to as ‘extreme’ such as the thermal strains found in hot water (up to 70°C) and also in hypersaline and polar environments.

The many properties of phycocyanin and its indicationsPhycocyanin, with its blue colour, is an absolute therapeutic gem: the blue gold that comes from spirulina. It offers very effective remedies to many common diseases and also to certain serious health problems such as leukaemia and other forms of cancer. To give an idea of the strength of its effects, phycocyanin is 6000 to 7000 times more active than Spirulina itself and 20 times stronger than vitamin C.

1. Effect on stem cell production in bone marrow Indications : anaemia, fatigue, recovery after intensive physical exertion.

2. Effects on leukaemia Indications : chronic or acute myeloid leukaemia.

3. Effects on the immune system Indications : recurrent infections, viral infections, cancer, allergic rhinitis.

4. Antioxidant and anti-radical effects Indications : prevention of ageing, neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease)

5. Antiviral effects Indications : Acute or chronic viral infections.

6. Anticancer effects 7. Effects on the liver Indications : liver conditions including cirrhosis, body contamination (heavy metals), chemotherapy,

hypercholesterolaemia.

8. Effects on diabetes Indications : Type 2 diabetes and its complications.

9. Effects on the kidneys Indications : renal stones, renal colic, protection for the

kidneys (mercury, drugs).

10. Effects on the thyroid gland Indications : hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s disease.

11. Effects on heavy metals 12. Selective anti-infl ammatory effects Indications : infl ammation, rheumatological conditions.

13. Cardiovascular effects Indications : prevention of cardiovascular events.

Recommendations for the use of PhycoSens :

Preventative use : One ampoule daily, taken each morning on an empty stomach. Hold the product on the tongue for at least 1 minute before swallowing.

Curative use : Two ampoules daily (morning and evening)

Presentation :Ten doses of 10 ml

Keep the product cool and away from light!

SELENOME THIONINE

There is no specifi c carrier for selenium, but the form in which selenium is delivered makes it easier or more diffi cult to absorb.

The L-selenomethionine molecule is produced using a live yeast in the presence of selenium. This form is highly bioavailable, because it is organic selenium in its most metabolised form.

Selenium is well known for its antioxidant properties. Its effects are reinforced by simultaneously taking vitamin C and vitamin E and also by the presence of ß–carotene.

S-ADENOSYLMETHIONINE

S-ADENOSYLMETHIONINE (SAMe: pronounced “sammy”)SAMe is a physiological substance synthesised by the body from the essential amino acid methionine and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). In biochemical terms, SAMe is the strongest of all methyl donors.

METHYLATIONMost people have never heard of methylation, but we would all be dead without it.

Like oxidation, methylation is a biochemical process that involves the transfer of a methyl group, consisting of one carbon atom and three hydrogen atoms (CH3), from one molecule to another. This does not sound particularly exciting, but the end result is a matter of life and death.

Every organic substance on earth contains carbon, and when carbon atoms move, things change. To understand methylation, you have to view the human body as if it were a car. Methylation is the spark plug. Without it, everything stops because methylation is involved in more than a hundred biochemical reactions in our bodies.

To briefl y mention a few of its actions, methylation is involved in DNA repair and forms part of the body’s ability to repair damaged cells before they turn cancerous. Methylation of proteins is essential to allow communication between cells by activating membrane receptors, while methylation of phospholipids makes it possible to keep cell membranes supple and permeable, which is vital to allow substances to be exchanged between cells. Methylation is necessary for production of our most important antioxidant: glutathione.

Recommendations for the use of selenomethionine :

Formula : – Malpighia punicifolia 120 mg – Taurine 100 mg – Magnesium chlorophyllin 100 mg – Maltodextrin 100 mg – Natural beta-carotene (Vitamin A) 77 mg – Natural tocopherol (Vitamin E) 17.95 mg – Magnesium stearate 10 mg – Selenomethionine (Selenium) 5.5 mg – Silicon 5 mg – Marine gelatin gel capsule shell 95 mg. It also produces adrenaline from noradrenaline and melatonin from serotonin, and regulates a large proportion of brain activity. As well as the brain, the liver also uses methylation in its work of detoxifying the body. The effects of inadequate methylation can be seen in premature ageing, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, liver disorders and depression. SAMe is the only product that can promote methylation.

Since methylation activity tends to reduce with age, many specialists now think that this slowing of methy-lation contributes to the ageing process and to the development of many diseases.Indications: methylation

SAMe and depressionA large number of clinical studies have been carried out on SAMe and these have shown its effectiveness in treating even severe depression, in patients who have not benefi ted from traditional anti-depressants. These studies have also made it possible to explain the mechanism of action of SAMe: it increases the levels of certain hormones called neurotransmitters which are found in the brain. noradrenaline (a natural stimulant), dopamine (responsible for feelings of well-being) and serotonin (which creates a natural sense of calm).

SAMe and melatoninSAMe is vital for production of melatonin. In fact the synthesis of melatonin during the night depends on the synthesis of SAMe during the day. SAMe is vital to convert serotonin into melatonin. There is a circadian rhythm between SAMe and melatonin: when me-latonin levels rise during the night, SAMe levels remain low, and when melatonin levels fall during the day, SAMe levels rise. If not enough SAMe is synthesised during the day, not enough melatonin will be synthesised at night. The essential role of melatonin, which regulates and controls our biological clocks, is well known: it improves sleep, stimulates the immune system and protects the central nervous system.

SAMe and the liverSAMe increases production of gluta-thione, which plays an important part in the process of detoxifi cation by the liver. It can be used to treat serious liver diseases like forms of hepatitis and cirrhosis.

Its protective effect on the liver makes it the ideal nutritional supplement for people who drink alcohol.

SAMe and fi bromyalgiaIn 1991, in a clinical study involving 44 patients with fi bromyalgia, the researchers observed signifi cant improvements in terms of pain, tiredness, morning stiffness and mood in the subjects who were treated with SAME.

SAMe and osteoarthritisSAMe (at a dose of 400 to 1200 mg per day) relieves pain just as effectively as drugs.

Recommendations for the use of S-ADENOSYLMETHIONINE

Formula : The usual dose is 400 mg daily (one tablet 10 minutes before breakfast and before lunch).

In some cases (mainly for pain), the dose should be doubled and 800 mg should be taken daily (four tablets per day).

Improvement in symptoms normally occurs in less than 15 days.

Remember that SAMe deals with the cause of the problem, so it is important not to stop taking it until the condition has completely resolved. There is no problem doing this, because SAMe has no risk of dependency and no side-effects.

It must also be remembered that SAMe sometimes has to be used alongside other nutritional supplements to treat certain diseases:

> For fi bromyalgia : combine with MODUCARE C ®> For osteoarthritis : combine with GLUCOsamine> For depression : S-Adenosylmethionine alone is effective in

70% of patients, which is a better result than antidepressant medication but without the side-effects !

ZINC LOZENGES

Zinc Lozenges provide 10 mg zinc glycinate which is very easily absorbed.

These pastilles are sweetened (with sorbitol) and fl avoured (with natural

orange extracts), making them convenient for use by people of all ages.

Background information about Zinc Lozenges Zinc is a well-known essential trace element involved in a large number of

vital metabolic reactions within the body. Pollution, stress, medicines, dena-

tured food products, alcohol, imbalances in intestinal fl ora etc. are all factors

that can impair or even prevent absorption of minerals and trace elements and zinc in particular. As in the

case of vitamin C or vitamin D, everyone should supplement their intake of zinc, which is a vital element.

The following general signs may indicate a zinc defi ciency: repeated infections, suppressed immunity,

reproductive problems, skin problems, fragile nails and hair or problems relating to growth.

As a cofactor in superoxide dismutase (SOD), zinc can also be seen as a nutrient with antioxidant effects,

which reinforces the mechanisms that protect the body from free radicals. An oxidised, rapidly ageing

body may also refl ect a zinc defi ciency.

High levels of zinc help to provide protection from certain toxic heavy metals, especially cadmium and

lead.

Numerous studies have highlighted the fundamental role of zinc in human immune responses. In order to

reproduce quickly and work effectively, cells in the immune system absolutely require adequate amounts

of zinc and this must be easily absorbed and bioavailable.

Adequate levels for daily zinc supplementation are 10 mg in children and at least 15 mg for adults, since

intake from food alone is insuffi cient.

During specifi c periods such as pregnancy,

adolescence (girls in early menstruation) or after

the menopause, and for people with diets low in

meat or animal products (vegetarians, vegans), or

regular episodes of depression, zinc supple-

ments should be taken on a regular basis.

Indications for Zinc Lozenges • Problems with : immunity, skin, hair,

stress, premature ageing.

• Specifi c periods : pregnancy, growth, older people, menstruation, depression, during winter.

Recommendations for the use of Zinc Lozenges

• General: suck three tablets per day between meals.

IMPORTANT : take for at least three months!Composition : Ingredients for 3 tablets- Zinc glycinate : 100,00 mg- Sorbitol – Citric acid – Natural orange extract - Magnesium stearate Total weight of lozenge: 3 240 mgPackaging : Bottle containing 100 tablets.

FLEXIPLEX

Flexiplex is an extract of green-lipped mussel from New Zealand. This extract contains unique active ingredients which are extremely effective as: • an effective natural treatment for all forms of osteoarthritis and infl ammatory arthritis in both humans and animals.

• a treatment for people who are physically active or participate in sports but suffer from joint and muscle fatigue and/or wish to protect their joint cartilage.

• all those suffering from joint pain or stiffness.

General informationOsteoarthritis and infl ammatory arthritis are both disabling diseases.

Osteoarthritis involves wear and tear on the cartilage in joints which leads to mechanical problems. Once the cartilage is signifi cantly thinned, this gives rise to congestion and infl ammation accompanied by joint pain and stiffness. The pain of osteoarthritis is mostly felt when mobilising and it is alleviated by rest. The person’s symptoms are usually worse under conditions such as lower atmospheric pressure, cold and wet weather and when spending time in damp conditions or during rainy periods. It is referred to as a barosensitive condition.

Osteoarthritis may occur at various levels in the spinal column (in the cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine). This may give rise to a risk of cervicobrachial (neck and arm) or cervico-occipital (neck and head) neuralgia if the problem occurs high in the spine.

Thoracic osteoarthritis is common among sedentary people because it is made worse by working in a seated position and often associated with posture and alignment problems (scoliosis, thoracic kyphosis).

Acute and chronic lumbar back pain (wrongly referred to as «kidney pain»), sciatica, groin pain, disc pathology and discarthrosis are specifi c manifestations of osteoarthritis in the lower back.

Other sites are much rarer (shoulder, ankle etc.). and are associated with prior trauma

Infl ammatory arthritis is a disease that involves infl ammation of the joints. It may affect one or more joints with acute or chronic symptoms, presenting with a triad of symptoms that are characteristic of a local infl ammatory process: «calor – tumor – dolor» (heat – swelling – pain). There are many different causes. This infl ammatory process is usually accompanied by swelling or fl uid, and the pain is more severe at rest (at night). It is alleviated by movement (morning stiffness). From a clinical perspective, infl ammatory arthritis is accompanied by a biological infl ammatory syndrome which can be measured as an increase in erythrocyte sedimentation rate, CRP (C-reactive protein) and by the presence of infl ammatory joint fl uid.

Forms of infl ammatory arthritis include: rheumatoid arthritis (RA) - ankylosing spondylarthritis – psoriatic arthritis – connective tissue diseases (collagen diseases) – systemic lupus erythematosus - forms of infl ammatory arthritis following infections and reactive arthritis which occurs when an infection directly affects a joint, causing infl ammation.

There are also forms of microcrystalline arthritis which must not be confused with gout (deposition of crystals within joints), another painful infl ammatory condition that results from excess uric acid.

!!! Flexiplex is contraindicated in case of gout!!!

The infl ammatory phenomenon The green-lipped mussel has anti-infl ammatory effects which infl uence the infl ammatory process on multiple levels.

• First anti-infl ammatory action: they contain a complex carbohydrate which can inhibit the migration of neutrophils out of blood vessels. This migration is an important infl ammatory process. When the body comes under attack, it is vital for neutrophils to move to the site of the infl ammation to destroy the pathogen. Repeated recruitment of neutrophils on a massive scale, however, is harmful to tissues.

• Second anti-infl ammatory action: the green-lipped mussel contains certain long-chain fatty acids which act on cyclo-oxygenase. Cyclo-oxygenases (COX) are enzymes used by the body for biosynthesis of prostaglandins. There are two forms of cyclo-oxygenases (COX).

• COX 1: a natural component in tissues which has important functions in the body.

• COX 2: this is induced by an infl ammatory condition such as an infl ammatory arthritis. This chronic infl ammatory state generates pro-infl ammatory prostaglandins. It is preferable to stop this excessive enzyme activity. This is done by anti-infl ammatory medications (NSAIDs). Unfortunately, these inhibit both COX 1 and COX 2. The result is therefore a defi ciency in the prostaglandins which are needed to protect the mucous membranes in the stomach and support kidney function.

Uses and properties of Flexiplex 1. Flexiplex has the huge advantage that it selectively inhibits the activity of COX 2 without interfering with the action of COX 1.

Flexiplex also has an impact on the activity of LOX (lipooxygenase) which is responsible for production of leukotrienes.

2. Flexiplex is therefore able to provide natural gastro-protection. This food supplement thus makes it possible to alleviate the infl ammatory symptoms associated with arthritis while protecting the stomach from the harmful effects of certain (analgesic) drugs which are prescribed for patients.

3. Flexiplex offers protection for the joints.

The green-lipped mussel naturally contains glycosaminoglycans. These substances have an important role in generating and repairing cartilage. The structure of glycosaminoglycans contains glucosamine molecules. These are used in the body for biosynthesis of components called proteoglycans. Proteoglycans are fi ller molecules which make up the extracellular matrix. They have a strong affi nity for water, and when they swell up they fi ll the empty spaces in the physical structures of the body. This occurs in the spaces surrounding the joint cavities. These molecules act as shock absorbers and lubricants for the joint surfaces.

Conclusion on Flexiplex Flexiplex is not only an anti-infl ammatory but it also protects and rebuilds cartilage surfaces.

This means that it alleviates the infl ammatory aspect of osteoarthritis while also having a chondroprotective function to support the joints.

Flexiplex for animals

This mussel extract is extremely effective in animals, particularly dogs, cats and racehorses with arthritis who also have worn cartilage.

Recommendations for the use of Flexiplex in animalsAnti-infl ammatory action: 17 milligrams per kilo of body weight for several months.

!!! BEWARE OF IMITATIONS!!

There are certain products available that «imitate» this extract. Unfortunately these are not as benefi cial. It is therefore necessary to be certain that it is an authentic green-lipped mussel extract obtained by lyophilisation.

This is because when the mussel dies the effi cacy of its anti-infl ammatory active substances declines rapidly. The extraction process therefore not only needs to be appropriate, but it also needs to be done quickly. Lyophilised mussel powders which are manufactured from frozen mussel meat, for example, have a hugely reduced anti-infl ammatory effect.

As for products presented in the form of oily capsules, these are usually obtained using solvents and only contain a fraction of the lipids extracted from the mussels.

Products of this type will usually have a therapeutic effect, but this will be reduced because the product does not contain all the active substances which are available in complete extracts such as Flexiplex.

Presentation: box of 60 capsules.

Recommendations for the use of Flexiplex

Anti-infl ammatory action: two capsules daily (morning and evening with meals) for six months. If the results are inadequate: in some cases four capsules daily are needed initially (one, two or three weeks, or even for one or two months in the case of a long-standing problem). Once the pain and infl ammation have settled, two capsules daily are suffi cient.

Maintaining the benefi ts: once the pain and infl ammation have settled, one capsule daily (in the morning with food) is suffi cient. Some people do, however, have to continue taking two capsules daily.

Combinations including Flexiplex Flexiplex can be combined with anti-infl ammatory and other medications and also with other food supplements (such as glucosamine for osteoarthritis).Contraindications for Flexiplex:- Gout - Shellfi sh allergies: caution is required in people with allergies of this type. In case of uncertainty: start by taking 1 capsule daily.

Ingredients in Flexiplex: One capsule contains: 500 mg of powdered Perna Canaliculus (green-lipped mussel from New Zealand - mollusc without shell) - Edible gelatine 96 mg. Gross weight of capsule: 596 mg.

This dried mollusc extract is obtained by lyophilisation. This process appears to respect the active effects of the original substances extremely well.

SILI SENS

Mineral silica, and organic silica

Silisens: a subtle combination of organic and silica from plant

A Silisens capsule contains • 134 mg Odontella aurita (micro algae food) • 66 mg choline stabilized orthosilicic acid

In terms of silica, each capsule provides 2.8% silica with 74 % of it silica in the form of orthosilicic acid and 26 % in the form of the organic silica from the Odontella algae which is a highly absorbable silica at 14.7 mg per capsule.

What is very important is that silica from the microalgae is already preassimilated by a living creature giving it its high bioavailability. According to the principles of quantum medicine, inorganic molecule transformed by the plant or animal kingdom (diatoms) carries the special memory of the biological activity of the ocean through the biogenic silica (a relation can be made between the memory of the water and vectoring information via the silica).

Properties and indications Silisens Silica

1. Action on the joints Silica is essential for the synthesis of connective tissue proteins such as collagen and elastin that contribute to cartilage regeneration. Hyaluronic acid which gives elasticity to the cartilage is also rich in silica. Silica also plays a role in the strength of tendons and ligaments.

Indications: osteoarthritis, tendinitis, ligament weakness.

2. Action in bones Silica is involved in the formation of the skeleton and calcifi cation. It is a powerful mineralizing agent because it stimulates the binding of calcium in the bones.

Indications: osteoporosis, fracture healing, loss of teeth.

3. Action at the vascular level The walls of blood vessels contain a lot of our collagen and elastin, whose synthesis depends on the silica. It will therefore contribute to the fl exibility of arterial walls that protect us from hypertension and atherosclerotic lesions. It will also enhance the tonicity of veins

Indications: prevention of stroke, varicose veins.

4. Action on the skin Our reserve of silica decreases with age and from the forties, we begin to notice a loss of elasticity and sagging of skin with some wrinkles. This is logical because the silica in the synthesis of collagen and elastin is responsible for skin tonifi cation. Silica is also essential for proper hydration of the skin.

Indications: skin aging (wrinkles, stretch marks), poor wound healing, acne, eczema, psoriasis.

5. Action on the hair and nails Hair and nails are keratinized tissue in which the silica is found in large quantities as it contributes to the quality of hair and nail strength.

Indications: prevention and treatment of hair loss, thin and brittle hair, brittle nails. 6. Anti-infl ammatory and analgesic The anti-infl ammatory and pain-relieving action of silica explained by its role in the modulating of the cytokines, messengers of infl ammation. This action is especially found in infl ammation and pain of the locomotor system.

Indications: pain, muscle or joint infl ammation.

7. Action in cell membranes There is a difference in electrical potential between the inside and outside of the cell membrane that allows exchange between the cells and the external medium (nutrient and waste disposal). Silica allows to adjust this imbalance when membrane potential is unbalanced and thus ensures optimum cell function.

Indications: prevention of cell aging, aid in the treatment of certain chronic diseases.

8. Action on aluminum neutralizing Silica neutralizes the harmful effects of aluminum by reducing its intestinal absorption and increasing its elimination by the kidneys.

Indications: prevention of brain aging, Alzheimer’s.

CHONDRO - S

Main indication: - Chelation of heavy metals

General information Shark cartilage contains a little calcium and phosphorus, but it mostly consists of chondroitin sulfate, which provides a signifi cant quantity of sulfur. One of the key metabolic effects of sulfate is that it permits sulfation in the liver.

Sulfation or sulfoconjugationSulfoconjugation is the chemical reaction that takes place in the liver (phase 2). Thanks to the action of a coenzyme (phosphoadenylyl phosphosulfate - PAPS) a new molecule is formed by attaching a sulfate ion to existing molecules.

How is this sulfation or sulfoconjugation reaction useful? Sulfation allows the human body to eliminate toxic molecules or products (heavy metals, drugs and various pollutants). When heavy metals or other pollutants are chelated, for example with the help of algae (laminaria, chlorella or spirulina), the toxic molecules are dislodged from within cells and come back into circulation in the blood.

The blood then transports them to sites where they can exit the body (kidneys, skin and other routes of elimination) but for the body to actually excrete them, these toxic molecules absolutely must be water-soluble. They become water-soluble when they are combined with a sulfated ion. This is where chondroitin sulfate, which is a powerful sulfur donor, is so important.

If doses of minerals and trace elements are given to people who are having a course of chelation, they often become defi cient in sulfur. As a result, the elimination of heavy metals becomes impossible due to a lack of sulfur.

Consequently, for chelation to be successful, the body should ideally be given an additional supply of absorbable sulfur. Chondro-S makes this possible. Thanks to the sulfur in the chondroitin sulfate which is a natural ingredient in Chondro-S, the molecules to be chelated become water soluble and are easily eliminated by the kidneys and the skin.

Other actions of Chondro-SChondroitin sulfate makes it possible to increase production of all the sulfated molecules that the organism needs. General health can therefore be improved through the supply of these absorbable sulfur supplements. The benefi ts can be seen in connective tissues, the cardiovascular and neurological systems, and also in the skin, hair, nails etc.

Recommendations for the use of Chondro-S:
