Can have obtained small research grants (e.g., R03, R21), previous K or F grants, or been on T32
Early Stage Investigator (ESI)A new investigator within 10 years of doctorate or completing residency
Status of NI or ESI defined in your eRA Commons profile & check with RMG at Stanford

F32s are training awards, not research awards
Major review considerations are your:
potential for a productive career
need for the proposed training
the degree to which the research training proposal, the sponsor, and the environment will satisfy those needs and develop the career
