Most states have chosen a state rock, gem and mineral. As the Granite State, New Hampshire’s choice of a rock is obvious. The mineral Beryl is rather rare and has been mined in NH as a source for the strategically important metal Beryllium. Gemstones cut from our superb Smoky Quartz are beautiful.
