Pastor’s Message: Other theological reasons why we should be stewards in our parish: 1) It is an act of thanksgiving to God who continues to bless us with time, skills, health and wealth. By sharing these blessings with God's other children in, as well as outside of, the parish, we are returning to God what is due to Him. Stewardship is the model given by Jesus as He generously gave Himself in the service of others and offered his life for all of us. By our stewardship we make a humble return of that sacrificial love. 2) By faithful stewardship in our parish we are helping our own brothers and sisters, because by baptism we are all made the children of the same heavenly Father and brothers and sisters of Jesus our Lord and Savior. 3) Stewardship by sharing is the ultimate criterion of reward or punish-ment on the day of the Last Judgment. (Matthew 25: 31 The six ques-tions by Jesus, the judge on the day of the Last Judgment - Did you share food, drink, clothing, home, mercy and loving? - concern our steward-ship of His blessings to us). 4) Generosity to God and our neighbors is the source and means of additional blessing from God: Luke 6: 38: "Give, and gifts will be given to you, a good measure, packed together, shaken down and overflowing, will be poured into your lap." 5) Good stewardshihp is the sign of a dynamic and growing parish com-munity radiating true Christian charity, not only within parish boundaries but in the rest of the community as well. 6) Stewardship fulfills a basic psychological need in human beings. Na-ture has gifted us with external organs and senses precisely to reach out to others. They are meant to be our own extensions and God's exten-sions to reach out to others. Psychologically, the need of the giver to give is greater than the need of the receiver to receive. 7) Stewardship widens our vision, broadens and softens our hearts and sanctifies our lives.

Porque debemos ayudar a administrar y server en nuestra parroquia? Hay muchas razones teológicas:

1.) Son actos en acción de gracias a Dios que continúa bendiciéndonos con tiempo, talentos, salud y fortuna. Al compartir estas bendiciones con nuestros hermanos cristianos así como con aquellos que están fuera de la parroquia, estamos devolviendo a Dios lo que le corresponde por medio de la Mayordomía. El mismo Jesús nos lo demostró, dándose a si mismo y ofreciendo su vida por todos nosotros. Al participar en la Mayordomía podemos humildemente corresponder al amoroso sacrifi-cio que hizo por nosotros. 2.) Con el Bautismo nos hemos convertido en hijos del mismo padre celestial y hermanos de Cristo Jesús, nuestro salvador, A ellos los po-demos ayudar al participar en Mayordomía en nuestra parroquia. 3.) Al compartir en la Mayordomía seremos juzgados o castigados en el día del Juicio Final (Mateo 25:31), Ese día se nos preguntará: ¿Compartiste mi comida, mi bebida, me diste ropa, un techo, compasión y amor? 4.) Al ser generosos con Dios y nuestro prójimo recibimos bendiciones adicionales de su parte, como dice en Lucas 6:38: Den y se les dará. Recibirán una medida bien llena, apretada y rebosante. 5.) Una buena Mayordomía es el símbolo de una parroquia dinámica y en crecimiento, que irradia el amor de la verdadera caridad cristiana, tanto dentro como por fuera de la comunidad. 6.) La Mayordomía cumplimos una de las necesidades básicas de los seres humanos. La Naturaleza nos ha regalado órganos externos y cinco sentidos para poder relacionarnos entre nosotros. Psicológicamente, la necesidad de la persona que da es más grande que la necesidad de recibir de la persona que recibe. 7.) La Mayordomía nos ayuda a tener una visión más amplia, nos ablan-da el corazón y santifica nuestras vidas.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Each of the seven sacraments, like other aspects of the Church’s pastoral plan, is an attempt to be faithful to the image of Christ we dis-cover in the Gospels. Anointing of the sick is rooted in Jesus’ saving deeds of healing and even rescue from death. What is your favorite encounter of Jesus with a sick person? Often, it seems that Jesus would go at once to the person in a crowd who was in the most pain, in the deepest need. A man born blind, Peter’s mother-in-law, a woman afflicted by years of un-controllable hemorrhages, a little Roman girl beloved by her soldier father, a crippled man lowered from the rafters, and even a man who lost his ear to a swinging sword in the garden of agony. This list reads like an admis-sions chart in an emergency room, and perhaps that is the point. The whole human experience from childhood to old age, from sudden catas-trophic illness to chronic debilitating conditions, is represented by those for whom Jesus has such great compassion. This we can name a treasure of tradition with a capital “T.” We are a people of compassion for our sick, who reach out in tenderness to listen, to keep vigil, to strengthen, to touch with reverence, and to anoint with precious oil. —Rev. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Durante tres años he estado compartiendo muchas costumbres y tradiciones Hispanas, Latinas y Latinoamericanas. Este nuevo año litúrgico deseo expandir el horizonte de Tradiciones de nuestra fe, más allá de lo nuestro, para ver las raíces y prácticas de nuestra tradición católica-cristiana. Los cristianos católi-cos, ortodoxos y de otras denominaciones, consideramos que el mensaje de Dios no puede limitarse a un solo libro, pues la revelación divina nos llega mediante la Tradición y la Sagrada Escritura. Debemos saber que por Tradi-ción no estamos hablando de costumbres y prácticas religiosas, tales como las posadas, el rosario u otras devociones. Más bien, la Tradición (con mayúscula) se ocupa de la Doctrina oral del Evangelio que ha sido transmitida de una generación a otra, a partir de los Apóstoles. Parte de esa Tradición fue escrita en la Sagrada Escritura (Biblia) pero no toda. Como nos lo dice Juan el Evan-gelista “Hay además otras muchas cosas que hizo Jesús. Holy Day of Obligation— Immaculate Conception of the Blessed

Virgin Mary: Monday, December 8th is the So-lemnity of the Immaculate Concep-tion of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be at 6:30am, 8:00am,

11:00am, 5:30pm and 7:30pm (Spanish). The Grupo Hispano will celebrate La Purisima, on Sunday, Dec. 7th at the 11:30am Mass. Fellowship and “La Gritería” will follow in the cafeteria.

Our Lady of Guadalupe: The Hispano-Americano cordially invites

everyone to the Solemn Mass of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday, December 12th at 7:00pm in our church. This special Mass will be accompanied by Mariachi music. The

Coro Hispano will serenade Our Lady of Gua-dalupe at 6:30pm. After Mass, the celebration will continue in the cafeteria where tamales will be sold. For donations, please contact Maria Elena (415) 585-7878.

Parish Novena 2014: Our Parish’s Spiritual Life Commission is pre-paring for the coming of our Lord. We will be having Christmas Novena Masses (Simbang-Gabi) from December 15th until the 23rd at 7:00pm. The theme for the novena is “Christmas a Season of Loving and Giving: God so Loves the World that He gives us His son, Jesus Christ…” - John 3:16. Included each evening, will be a short witness of God’s love from a parishioner. We hope you can join us each and every evening for a time of prayer and reflection. Also, after each mass we will have fellowship in the cafete-ria. There will be Parish Confessions on Tues-day, December 16th at 6:00pm. ¡VELEN! “¡Velen!” Esta palabra ocurre dos veces en el Evangelio de hoy, situada en puntos estratégi-cos: al principio, y en el centro. Aunque técnica-mente sea una parábola, el texto es bastante breve (cuatro versículos). La doble repetición de “velen” no deja lugar a duda de lo que trata este relato. A menudo pensamos en Adviento como un tiempo de espera, pero en realidad es un tiempo de vigilancia, una forma muy activa de esperar la llegada del Día del Señor. Ese es el Día, más que el día de Navidad, anticipado fielmente por la comunidad cristiana, ya que usa todos sus talentos y dones para este fin, como nos lo re-cuerda Pablo en la carta a los corintios. Cuando usamos estos dones en fiel espera y anticipación, nos hacemos como los sirvientes de la parábola, entregados a sus tareas, no esperando como vagos, sino encargados de la labor del maestro hasta su regreso.
