Viewing the Internationalization Log

A new node called Internationalization is provided to translate custom strings, which are displayed at runtime in logs, records, sheets, print formats, find window, reports etc. Existing customers are provided with migration scripts to extract strings that qualify for custom string translation. After translating strings, click Refresh in the toolbar to populate the Internationalization log with custom strings. Source Type and Source String are the first two columns in the Internationalization log, followed by the 11 supported language columns in alphabetical order. Each source string in Unifier has a source type that represents the category to which a source string belongs -- for example, Data Structure, uDesigner, Reports. This field is pre-populated and non-editable.

To access this feature: Internationalization Log: Navigate to Company Workspace (Admin Mode), Configuration, Internationalization. In the log, translate custom strings in the supported languages.

7

Translating Custom Strings

After selecting a language, Unifier displays all system strings in the selected language. Translate custom strings such as business process names, form fields, and workflows in one of two ways:

Manual: Use the Open option to view, add, or modify translations for a limited number of strings. Uniqueness of string is established by the combination of Source Type and Source string.

Export/ Import options: Use these options for translating a large number of strings. This feature is particularly useful for professional product translators. A translatable file format (XLIFF) is provided for the purpose. First, export the strings, complete the translations, and then import the file back into Unifier. Use this method to export translated custom strings from one environment and import into another -- for example, Staging to Production.

To access this feature: Internationalization Log: Navigate to Company Workspace (Admin Mode), Configuration, Internationalization. In the log, translate custom strings in the supported languages.

Custom Reports Enhancement

Custom reports in Unifier 10.1 support internationalization. The Report File tab is enhanced to support uploading multiple translated XLIFF files for RTF templates only. Click Add to display the new window, Add Template and Files.

Upper section allows selection of the template type and uploading of the report layout file. It displays a field for the template name. All are required fields.

Lower section, Translated XLIFF files for the Template, contains fields to upload templates translated in the 11 supported languages.

Browse is enabled only when a RTF template is uploaded in the upper section.

Multiple template files can be uploaded in the Report File tab as per current functionality. Each displays as a separate row. No language is indicated. Report File tab in external reports is enhanced in the same way as internal reports. The Query tab supports internationalization and number formatting, only if queries are based on Data Definition and Ad-Hoc (also enhanced to identify integers or double). Internationalization and number formatting are not supported if queries are based on data views, which is raw data. Data displays in the way it is stored in the database without any formatting.

To access this feature: Custom Reports: Navigate to Company Workspace (Admin Mode), Configuration, Custom Reports. In the log, create/modify custom reports to use templates in the supported languages.

P6-Unifier Integration Summarized P6 data can be exported to Unifier and analyzed in Unifier's Cost Sheet, Cash Flow, and Earned Value modules. Unifier also enables user-defined reports and custom reports based on the integrated data. P6/Unifier integration is managed by the Primavera Gateway application. Project ID in P6 is mapped to Unifier's Project Number. Data exported to Unifier is based on the schedule in P6. Duration-based schedules send just duration data; resource-loaded schedules send duration and unit data; cost-loaded schedules send duration, unit, and cost data. Schedule type is populated in Unifier's project details. Modules impacted in Unifier:

Shell Manager: New data element for shell attributes form to support integration based on schedule type.

Standards & Libraries: New node called P6 Data Sources that lists all P6 data sources when integration occurs.

Schedule Manager: New node, P6 Summary Sheets. Master and Baseline summary sheets capture summarized schedule and baseline data from P6.

Cost Sheet: New data elements in cost attributes form support the new CBS codes created by Gateway. Create columns using cost or unit fields (P6 data sources) from P6 summary sheets.

Resource Manager: New data elements to support P6 resources (Unifier converts to roles) and expense categories (Unifier maps to new data definition dataset values).

Cash Flow: Create Baseline, Forecast and Spends type curves using data from summary sheets. Earned Value: Unifier provides Cost Sheet as source for BCWS and BCWP charts, and a cash flow

forecast curve source for the new EAC type curve

Creating Unifier Project

Unifier projects have special design requirements for P6 integration.

Detail form of WBS shells must include a new data element, Schedule Type (uuu_int_schedule type).

Integration detail form of the shells must also include the same data element.

To access this feature:

Design/modify shell attributes: Navigate to Company Workspace tab (Admin Mode), uDesigner, Shell Manager.

Create a shell instance (project) of the modified shell type: Navigate to Company Workspace tab (Admin Mode), Company Sponsored Shells, <Shell Name> node.

Page 16: New Features in Primavera Unifier 10.1

12

WBS/CBS Exchange

P6 activities must be linked to Unifier's CBS codes for a successful integration. The WBS/CBS exchange creates CBS codes in Unifier that map to the WBS hierarchy of the P6 project. The codes are exported from Unifier to create or update CBS codes in P6. The number of CBS segments must match WBS levels and input method (pull-down or text entry). Impacted areas in Unifier Cost code segments now have a default value.

Default values are used in P6-Unifier integration. Gateway sends WBS-level data from P6, and Unifier utilizes the default values of segments to create CBS codes within cost sheets.

During the manual creation of CBS codes in a cost sheet, default value of segments displays within the Cost Code Selection window.

Cost attribute form must have the data elements, Imported from P6 (uuu_cost_imported_from_p6) and Exposed to P6 (uuu_cost_exposed_from_p6). Stand-alone cost sheet templates, and cost sheet in project, program and company have enhanced sheet and column properties.

Sheet properties: New check box in Options tab: P6 Integration > Enable P6 sources. If selected, you can create columns that pull data from summary data sheets.

Column properties: Published P6 data sources display at the end of Single datasources for columns. New Element field below the Datasource field is required if a P6 data source is selected. Data

14

Viewing a P6 Summary Sheet

Integration results in the creation of P6 data sources and summary sheets in Unifier. P6 summary sheets are the repository of P6 cost values and/or schedule data that is displayed in Unifier's cost sheet, cash flow and earned value modules. View duration-based summary sheets in a new node, P6 Summary Sheets, under Schedule Manager. A summary sheet is automatically created for the main P6 project schedule (Current Schedule) and each baseline. Current Schedule is displayed in bold to distinguish it from baseline summary sheets. When opened, the sheets display CBS codes and code names in the first two columns, followed by % Complete and duration columns. Duration fields display calculated data from P6.

P6 Data Sources and Cash Flow Enhancements

P6 Data Sources and cash flow P6-related enhancements are seen only when P6-Unifier integration-enabled shells are used. P6 Data Sources is a new node under Standards & Libraries in Company Workspace, Administration Mode. Values defined here are used to pull data from P6 Summary Sheets into cost sheets or cost sheet templates, and act as a dataset for the attribute Type for P6 Summary Sheets. Examples: Current Schedule Summary, Original Baseline Summary, Sanctioned Baseline Summary, etc.

Use Publish to make the manually created P6 data sources available to cost sheet columns. P6 data sources created via integration are auto-published.

Cash Flow In WBS-level detail curves, create baseline, forecast and spends type curves using data from P6 summary sheets. Use cash flow curves for forecasting and what-if analyses. Use the forecast curve as a source for the EAC curve in Earned Value. Baseline curve properties

Duration Based: In the Schedule section of baseline and forecast curve properties, a new schedule picker is available -- Use dates from P6 Summary Sheet with a Select button and a required Data Type list below it. Data Type data set values are Planned and At Completion. Unifier uses the Start and Finish dates of the selected data type (for example, Planned Start and Planned Finish, if Planned is the selected data type).

Page 20: New Features in Primavera Unifier 10.1

16

Resource Loaded or Cost Loaded: Distribution has an additional option, Use data from P6 Summary Sheet with a Select button and a required Data Type pulldown field below it. Data set values are Planned, At Completion, and At Completion Period. The selected option determines the spread of that type.

Forecast curve properties are enhanced similar to baseline curve. They differ in Data Type data set values.

Duration Based: Schedule data type options are At Completion and Remaining. Resource/Cost Loaded: Distribution data type options are At Completion, At Completion Period,

Remaining, and Remaining Period.

Spends curve properties

Duration Based: no change Resource/Cost Loaded: Displays a new Cost option, Use Actuals from P6 Summary Sheet. When

selected, Unifier draws the spends curve with Actual Cost spread, Actual Start Date and Actual Finish Date.

Curve Details

Duration Based: Editing is enabled. Functionality availability is based on selected distribution option – manual or auto by default profile per WBS.

Resource/Cost Loaded: Detail sheet is disabled for editing. Bulk Edit and Import are disabled.

Earned Value Enhancements

Use Earned Value functionality to view and compare the project's schedule and cost to baseline values. (Earned value enhancements are only seen in shells enabled for P6-Unifier integration.) Duration Based Schedule In a duration-based schedule, the General tab of EV curve properties has Cost Sheet available as a Source option in addition to the Schedule Manager option. When source is Cost Sheet:

BCWS and BCWP curves can pull data from P6 summary sheets via cash flow curves. New EAC curve type is available in which At Completion data from P6 summary sheets is used to

draw EAC curves.

BCWS curve properties display:

Budget pulldown to display cash flow detail curves. Curve pulldown to display baseline and custom curves from the selected detail curve.

BCWP curve properties display:

Progress list with percentage columns from the cost sheet, plus a new P6 Schedule option. With P6 Schedule option selected, % Complete per CBS, drawn from the master summary sheet and

BAC per CBS, drawn from BCWS curve are used to calculate the Progress spread. This, in turn, is used to draw the BCWP curve.

Progress Amount (= BAC * % Complete). Unifier maintains the progress spread information for each data date per CBS, updating it each time

integration occurs.

EAC curve properties display:

EAC pulldown to display cash flow detail curves. Curve pulldown to display forecast and custom curves from the selected detail curve. Drawn by scale.

ACWP curve properties display

Cash Flow pulldown to display cash flow detail curves. Curve pulldown to display actual and custom curves from the selected cash flow detail curve. Drawn by scale.

Custom curves have not been enhanced in this release.

Resource/Cost-Loaded Schedules

In resource-loaded schedules, the P6-Unifier integration solution enables Unifier to receive P6 resource units and expense categories, and calculate costs using P6 data. P6 resources are converted to roles; P6 expense categories map to dataset values of a new data definition. Assign all imported roles with rate values for correct cost calculations. P6 Summary Sheets log displays Recost that is used to refresh cost calculations (using units data from P6 and role rates / exchange rates data from Unifier) in resource loaded integration. No calculations are required in cost loaded schedules. Design considerations: In the Role attributes form, include the following four data elements to support integration with resource/cost loaded P6 schedules:

uuu_role_type (Role Type) uuu_role_id (Role ID) uuu_role_uom (UOM) uuu_role_imported_from_p6 (Imported from P6)

Define the integration template and add these data elements to the integration detail.

Application Installation Process Changes Unifier 10.1 provides the option to unpublish Primavera Unifier Project Controls designs in the Staging environment at the time of application installation. Prior to this release, when Project Controls was installed in the Staging environment, all preconfigured designs like business processes and shell attribute forms were marked as published. As a result, customers were restricted in modifying/deleting published design components like data elements and workflows. A new check box, Set preconfigured designs as unpublished, is provided in the application installation window of the Staging environment. Note that this option is not available in the Production environment. If you install Primavera Unifier Project Controls in the Production environment, then all designs are marked as published. If you intend to modify preconfigured designs, install only the main Unifier application files (unifier_#.zip [where # represents the Unifier version number] folder) in Production. Do not install Primavera Unifier Project Controls zip folder. Make the necessary changes to the preconfigured designs in the Staging environment. Create a production design bundle and then import the modified designs into the Production environment.
