Description
The type 0037/0038/0039 is a two partcoaxial double acting
pistonseal with the
inner elastomeric part providing the
radial sealing force and the outer ptfe
compound sealing ring the low friction
dynamic surface. Available in the
diameter range of 16-400mm. Larger
diameters are available on request. The
type 0032/0033/0034 piston seal is for
single acting applications and also for
double acting applications where they
are mounted back to backwith some
type of central bearing band.
ApplicationsLight medium duty hydraulic cylinders.
Composite piston seals are particularly
good in applications where low break
away forces and low running friction is
required.
Materials/Application LimitsComposite piston seals, type 0037
etc., and 0032 etc.,
are supplied with dynamic sealing ring manufactured
from either a ptfe-glass fibre based compound or one
with a bronze filler. The table gives more details.
Extrusion GapsA benefit of using composite seals type 0037 etc
and
0032 etc is that they fit into groove type housings and
simplified designs of piston can be used. Care should
be taken however that the resulting extrusion gap
that occurs on the non pressureside of the seal does
not exceed the values given in the tables as opposite.
Fitting InstructionsFrom 25mm dia and above composite piston
seals
can be stretched into their housings. For this wewould recommend
the use of a fitting sleeve. As with
all ptfe compound seals it is always advisable to
allow the seal to recalibrate itself. In the case of
piston seals a calibration sleeve can prove to be
effective. Drawing of both fitting tools can be
supplied upon request.
