Do YOU have that FAKE WORK LAUGH too?

If yes, then Oh dear you hate your job!

You can have a number of reasons to hate your job and have that fake work laugh.

#1 You hate your boss.

#2 You are forced to please people at your work, whom you don’t even like, just because that’s a partof your job that you find remotely interesting.

#3 You are frozen stuck in the rat race and cannot find a way out. That fake work laugh comes in as arescue when you have to ‘pretend’ that you are enjoying it.

#4 You are not an office person and your office walls seem no different than a torture cell to you. Whothe hell laughs in a cell huh?! That’s when the fake work laugh jumps in.

#5 You don’t love what you do. Real laugh just doesn’t come naturally to you. Hence, you fake it.

Today let’s dive into point number #5.

Okay, let me give your mind some workout to do.

Workout #1 Picture a regular day of your life

Think about a regular day in your life. Let me sketch a rough draft for your mind.

7.00 am You are are curled up in your bed, the alarm starts to ring, you hit the snooze button wantingto smash that alarm clock against the wall.

7.30 am You open up your eyes deciding to drag yourself to the bathroom and take a shower.

8.30 am You look at the clock and you find yourself running out of time. You decide to skip thebreakfast and take a cup of caffeine , aka coffee, on your way to office.

9.00 am Phew! You made it to the office and saved your life!

5.00 pm Your nerves are on the verge of exploding!

Constantly being told what to do, listening to others’ orders, working your ass off for someone else,doing something that you don’t even find interesting let alone loving it, you are almost about to have anervous break down. You are not left with a drop of energy in your body to go for some running or hitthe gym.

6.00 pm You reach home, dead tired, drag yourself to the room, get under the shower, jump into yournight suit.

6.30 pm Have your dinner, watch some TV for an hour or so.

8.00 pm Desperately waiting to catch up on some sleep, you jump into your bed. Thoughts of nextday’s work start giving you nightmares already as you close your eyes. But you shush them and go tosleep dreaming of a life that you have always wanted to live but have given up on that.

Your sketch of a routine day might be somewhat quite similar to this one when you don’t love what youdo and your work becomes a burden.

Now imagine yourself waking up at 8.30 in the morning. Enjoying curling up in your warm blanket, youdecide to lie in your bed for another ten minutes. You swipe unlock your phone not to check any emailsfrom office or when-are-you-going-to-reach messages from your boss but to scroll through yourFacebook.

Your eyes get a little weary, you connect your phone to the charger on your bedside table and decide tojump under the shower.

“Gurgle, gurgle”. Your stomach starts to growl. You make your all time favorite scrambled egg forbreakfast and watch TV as you sip on your mug of black tea.

There is an email in your inbox.

Voila! You just made another sale while you were eating. You are utterly pleased and excited to log intoyour email account to check how many sales did you make while you were snoring and curling in yourbed last night.

It’s 10 am now and you bring your laptop to your lounge, open up the lid, slump into your couch anddecide to do some work.

Three hours zoom by and you don’t even notice as you totally loverunning your own online business that you have built around yourpassion.

Your stomach starts to growl again. You want to have lunch. You pickup your cell phone again, dial your friend’s number to check if she isavailable for lunch.

The underlying truth is when your work is what you are passionate about, your work never feels likework. You enjoy doing it so much that any possible negativity that comes on your way, you just getpass it.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? But the story doesn’t end here.
