NEVADO DEL RUIZ

In the central cordillera of the Andes, above approximately 4,800 meters

above sea level, a set of 3 snowy peaks of extraordinary beauty that

attract thousands of visitors a year, because in these latitudes and this

ATRACTIVES:

Volcanoes and Snow-capped Mountains: Snow-capped Mountain of the Ruiz,

Snowed of the Tolima, Snowed Holy Isabel and the Crater of the Olleta.

Paramillos: Paramillo Del Quindo, of Santa Rosa, of the Swan and Morronegro.

Lagoons: Lagoon of the Otn, Green delighted Lagoon, Mozul's Lagoons, Lagoon

of the Mosquito and Lagoon of the Condor.

For the development of the activity of ecotourism they possess due limited paths,

the principal ones are: Refuge - Edge of Covered with snow Glacier of the Ruiz,

path viewing-point - green lagoon, objects of conservation and edge glacier of

the Snow-capped mountain Holy Isabel, as well as the exit ramp towards the

Refuge, which in addition possess study of capacity of load adopted as

Resolution.

Infrastructure and other facilities of support for the development of the ecotourism

in the National Natural Park the Snow-capped Mountain.

The National Natural Park the Snow-capped Mountain possesses two types

options for housing: the camping, activity that can develop in the sector

Sandbanks and Swan and the housing in the Visitors' Center the Swan. Which

possesses an aptitude to lodge 32 persons in 9 rooms.

The development of activities of ecotourism the Snow-capped Mountains arefocused in the north zone and center of the National Natural Park, in the sector

understood between the position of control and induction of Breezes, and the

Sector Breezes:

Area: 252 m2

Located to 4.169 m.s.n.m., it is the principal point of access to the Park for the

north sector, consists of a cabin shaped by a modular structure in wood and walls

of slat of pine.

There lend the services of ticket office, information, as that of guides, whose

company becomes obligatory in any tour inside the Park of agreement to the

Resolution Not on December 252, 2008.

Also it exists in this space for infirmary, cafeteria, terrace, battery of baths and a

multiple space to effect the chats of induction. A counter with an area destined

for the Ecotienda.

Sector Chalet Sandbanks.

In the moment in this sector one does not give services.

Sector I Shelter.

Area 70 m2.

Height: 4.816msnm.

The construction nearest to the crater Sands of the volcano of the Ruiz, serves as

point of receipt and of item of the paths that facilitate his observation. It is in

addition point of rest and recovery of the visitors who meet affected by the effectof the height.

Modular construction in wood with an area of cafeteria provided with bankings,

with his counter, cocineta and a small zone of infirmary.

The flat surrounding zone to this refuge is used as area of parking of the busetas

and vehicles in which the visitors accede.

Public baths:

With walls in blocks of concrete and covered thermos acoustics, these two unitsmust supporta strong use on the part of the visitors affected by the height and the

Sector Visitors' Center the Swan.

Area: 777.0 m

Located to 4.250 msnm in an intermediate zone of both covered with snow cones.

He has the following areas: terraces (2), receipt, infirmary, ecotienda,

Kitchen and cupboard, laundry, court clothes, lounge of being (30 persons),

dining room - cafeteria (42 persons), public baths, and nine (9) rooms with private

bath and with capacity for 32 persons.

Zone of camping.

A zone of camping exists in the moment with capacity for 20 tents, 95 persons,

located about the parking of the visitors' center the Swan, at present it possesses

the infrastructure of support in baths and showers and 2 rooms

Services ecoturistics nowadays under modality of concession of services.

With the signing of the contract of concession of services with the Temporary

Union Concession the Snow-capped Mountains, some of the services related sites,

infrastructure and attractions of the north zone of the National Park they meet at

the expense of the concessionaire; these services are the following ones:

System of reservations.

Center of induction Breezes. Different services.

Services of camping Sandbanks.

Eco-store: Breezes - Sandbanks - Refuge - CV the Swan.
