Extensive knowledge of large hydraulic systems, fault finding and maintenance.

Experienced in large water plants pumping up to 1.5 million gallons per day, including filtration systems, heat exchanges,

Leading and motivating large multi-disciplined maintenance teams of craft and supervisors for maintenance downtimes ranging from twelve hours to two weeks.

Familiar with plant services including gaseous fuel and actuating mediums, industrial and fire fighting water systems.

Experienced in plant lubrication including automated dual line grease systems.

Familiar with lifting appliances ranging from 250kg hoists to 280Te hot metal ladle cranes.

Steel making specific - experienced in processes and engineering equipment used in continuous casting and secondary steel making plants.

Experienced in material handling system incorporating flat belt and vertical conveyors, vibratory feeders and associated equipment.

Steel/Slab Area 1999 - 2001 Responsible for the provision of a safe, effective and efficient

mechanical engineering service to the steel and slab area. Specific responsibilities. Identifying and designing out problems within the continuous

casting area, including planning and managing major stop and down day work. Position, regarded as the key engineering role on the shift, responsible for promoting correct use of engineering management systems. Seconded from shifts to days to identify and rectify efficiency problems in the Department workshops, and to become part of two task teams dealing with specific issues within the department, whilst maintaining all other responsibilities.

Multi Functional Supervisor Continuous Casting Department 1994 - 1999

Responsible for the management of a shift team of multiskilled craftsmen carrying out maintenance and breakdown work within the Continuous Casting Department.

Supervising all contractor activities. Fundamental function of this role was to maintain high level of

communication between production and engineering teams.

Responsible for leading a team of mechanical craftsmen whilst carrying out maintenance and breakdown duties.

Mechanical CraftsmanContinuous Casting Department 1987 - 1990

Trained in welding and burning, electrical and process control systems to the standards required to become one of the first fifteen single mechanical craftsmen employed at a British Steel site. Following a six-month intensive training academy, responsible for initial commissioning and subsequent planned and breakdown maintenance of the new Continuous Casting Machine.
