Workshop Descriptions Code Compliance – This workshop will provide general information on the most common code violations. Learn about the code enforcement process and how to resolve your code compliance issues. Organize your Neighborhood – Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of a neighborhood organization and the tools to imple- ment an association. Community Gardening – This program will provide information and re- sources on how to grow vegetables and herbs in a shared area, and how the community benefits from working together. Historic Preservation – In honor of our Centennial, we are celebrating the City’s history and its architectural heritage. Learn about the different architectural styles in Winter Haven, and how you can find out more about the history of your home. Water Conservation – Conserving water is at the top of the City’s agenda. Whether it is reducing irrigation, installing water saving devices, or discouraging consumer waste, citizens are leading the way. Crime Prevention – Information will be provided on how to protect your home, property, and person from outside aggression. Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes today. Learn how to protect your identity and preserve your credit rating. Traffic Calming – Learn the many ways the City controls the flow of traffic on main roads and on neighborhood streets. Information will be shared on road classification and when to use directional signs. Neighborhood Matching Grant – Learn the requirements of the City’s Neighborhood Grant program. Empower your neighborhood, and improve the quality of life for all by working on small capital projects while expand- ing your partnerships through citizen and government participation.
