to meet their expenses duringthe lockdown. Over 88% do-mestic workers live in urbanareas as against only 11.5% inrural areas. Also, 40% ofthem said they had migratedfor work. On the whole, priorto the lockdown 90% of the
women surveyed were work-ing as compared to 85% ofmen. However, by mid-May,79% women reported thatthey were unemployed com-pared to 75% of men.
As many as 1,788 womenworkers revealed their exactoccupation during the sur-vey. Specific challenges facedby 401 domestic workers and409 agricultural workers arehighlighted in the report . TNN
