Winter Drama - “Almost, Maine” The Rocket Players will be presenting the 2018 Winter Drama on February 1, 2, 3 at 7:00 pm and on February 3 at 2:00 pm.Welcome to Almost, Maine – a tiny village so far north it is almost in Canada. On a clear, cold and moonless night, while the northern lights dance overhead, the residents of this mythical town find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. In a series of nine amiably absurdist vignettes hearts are broken, but the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter night’s dream. Tickets are available online starting Jan. 18th at www.rocketplayers.com They are $8.00 or $10.00 each, and are reserved seats. NOTE: Tickets are only available online, or at the box office the day of the show.

Last Chance to Order a Yearbook! If you did not order a yearbook at the start of the school year, you may still order one until March 23rd. Bring payment of $45.00 to Mrs. Becker in Student Services, or order online from Walworth. Yearbooks are delivered in August, and handed out at registration.

How to Order a Cap and Gown You may order online or through the mail. Online: Go to mwscholastic.com and pay with a credit card. By Mail: Fill out an order sheet (available at Door 3) and send with payment to PO Box 83, Mount Horeb, WI, 53572. The cost of the cap, gown and tassel package is $30.94.

Class of 2018 Senior Dates Now! If you have not yet ordered your cap and gown, please do so right away! Questions? Contact Todd Jacobson at [email protected] or 751-6900 ext.16347. May 25 Seniors travel to Great America for their class trip. Buses depart promptly at 8:30 a.m. and return around 10:00 p.m. May 30 Graduation rehearsal begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Fieldhouse. Students are required to bring their caps and gowns to rehearsal, and the senior class picture will be taken immediately after rehearsal. Students must be present at rehearsal to participate in the graduation ceremony! Students again report to NHS at 6:30 p.m., and the ceremony starts at 7:00 p.m. Graduates will keep their gowns, caps and tassels after the ceremony.

NHS Graduation Requirements To receive a Neenah High School diploma, seniors must meet all requirements as specified in the NHS Course Description Guide. If a senior started the second semester with enough credits to meet the graduation requirements (19.5), yet fails a second semester required course, he/she will be allowed to participate in the ceremony. However, the missed credit(s) must be made up prior to earning a diploma. If a senior has NOT earned 19.5 credits by the beginning of the second semester, our school policy does not allow them to participate in the graduation ceremony or receive a diploma. Students must make an appointment with their counselor to make a plan to earn the diploma.

Commencement Ticket InformationSix (6) graduation tickets will be mailed to the family(s) of each graduating senior during the first week in May. If a family needs additional tickets, a parent may come to Mrs. Henslin’s desk near the main entrance (door 3) starting on May 7th and request up to 2 additional complimentary tickets. All graduation tickets are free, but we are limited in the number of people we can seat for the ceremony, so please be respectful in the number of tickets requested. Seating for the elderly/disabled will be available at the ceremony, but may not be reserved.

Class Trip Information This year the senior class trip to Great America is on May 25, 2018. Seniors will take coach buses to Gurnee, Ill. for the entire day. The cost of the trip is $ 6 5 . 0 0 , a n d i n c l u d e s t r a n s p o r t a t i o n , p a r k admission and a buffet lunch. Students must sign up by May 18. Watch for more information in future newsletters!

Laude Recognition Program The recognition criteria is based on seniors having a 3.4 GPA or better, and multiplying their cumulative GPA at the end of semester one with the number of advanced courses. For more Laude information, please visit the following website: www.neenah.k12.wi.us/schools/high/nhs_laude.cfm

National Honor Society Information The Neenah High School Chapter of the National Honor Society is a service organization. Selection into NHS is based on four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Sophomore and Junior students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above will receive a letter at

the end of March, inviting them to attend one of two mandatory, informational meetings. Parents are also invited to attend if they want. Students wanting to be considered for membership must complete and submit the input form that they will receive at the informational meeting. Students are notified in early September if they have been selected. The minimum criteria for selection is high character, a total of 25 service hours in three different areas, and 4 leadership roles. The date must be scheduled one week in advance, and a form needs to be completed which includes parent/guardian and NHS teacher signatures, and administrator approval. No shadows are approved during the first two weeks, or the last two weeks of any semester. Please contact Kelly Keating at [email protected] or 751-6900 ext. 16104 with any requests.

School policy states that if students become ill or suffer an injury that requires them to go home for additional care, they must check out of school through the health aide, with parental consent.
