The concept of skin-needling is based on the skin's ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage such as cuts, abrasions and other physical trauma. Immediately after an injury occurs our skin destroys old damaged tissue such as acne scarring and wrinkles and replaces it with new, fresh, healthy collagen. Skin-needling allows for controlled induction of the skin's self-repair mechanism by creating micro "injuries" in the skin that trigger a whole cascade of events that result in new collagen synthesis as well as the introduction of highly effective, active anti-ageing serum with trimolecular Hyaluronic Acid that plumps up skin from the inside, re-organises architecture of the connective tissue and firms the skin." The result is smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin down the line.
Skin-needling procedures are performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of the sterile DermaPen needle head. DermaPen manufacture one of the top needling machines and needles on the market. The treatment takes 1 hour - the micro-needling takes 20 mins, consultation and preparation the balance. Before the procedure the skin is cleansed and prepared with a light glycolic AHA peel and exfoliation. A topical local numbing cream is applied. During the micro-needling your therapist gently moves the DermaPen over the skin to create miniscule sub- cutaneous channels. This is perceived by the body as a mini wound. After the needling a calming fleece mask is applied to cool, relax and calm the skin. Immediately post treatment skin will be red, but this diminishes within a few hours.

- Miranda When you've tried every pencil, powder, pigment, gel, and stencil and your brows are still sparse, microblading - a more permanent solution to thin brows - is the last-ditch-effort treatment that promises to change your brow life. The technique isn't as scary as it sounds. Microblading is a form of tattooing but unlike a regular tattoo, microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual, hand-held tool instead of a machine. Your therapist draws hair-like strokes with the tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows. Even though it's not as deep as the regular tattoo, it's still a tattoo because pigment is implanted under the skin. What’s more it doesn’t hurt although pain is relative. Some feel more than others. Overall it feels like little scratches. You feel it, but it's not unbearable. Your brows are prepped with topical numbing cream and topped up throughout the process to dull any discomfort. Several staff treated themselves to an early Christmas present! Carole (see pics on right) chose the ombre powder brows and I went for microblading while Dayle and Sarah went for stunning eyelashes.
