From Funäsdalen, drive road 84 in to Norway, in Brekken turn right and go the beautiful mountain road towards Stuggudal. In Stuggudal, by the tourist office, turn right towards Nedals-hytta and Sylsjön, located on the Swedish side of the border.

It is a large artificial lake, which regulates the flow of water for electricity production in the lake Nea. You can also drive up to the lake. Next to the channel you can see the flower Glacial buttercup flowering in July.

After 10 km of gravel road, park your car at Nedalshytta tourist station. It is about 100 km to drive by car and it’s very beauti-ful. Spectacular and you are in the middle of high alpine mountains.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TRIPEasy walking, but can be quite steep some places. We recommend boots or rubber boots. A walk up to Sylarna, can to many, seem like an impos-sible achievement. But you can easily enjoy the moun-tains directly from the carEven the disabled can have close contact with moun-tain by a cartrip up to Syldammen and Nedalshytta.

It offers not only great scenery, the trip goes through an area with many major political complications th-roughout history. During the Second World War, this was one of the passages into Sweden for Norwegian refugees to escape the Nazis’s forced slavery camps in Norway.

From Nedalshytta you can walk a short day trip and come Sylarna close.

The trek begins on the Norwegian side at Nedalshytta. To go around Nedalsklumpen, northeast of the tourist station, is a nice day trip. Follow the marked summer-trail. The first km of the tour can be tough, Nedalsklum-pen is rather steep on the southwest side. The ground is partly moist and you may see both Fragrant orchid and Key Florists. After a km steep climb you will be up on the plateau where you can see the sharp profile of Sylarna.

In the small valley on the south-west side of Ne-dalsklumpens top cairn you can take a break and there you will see Erik Dahl’s route straight to the south. Skardöra, whose dark steep at north is facing this way, have been an important passport for the communica-tions in older times.

Up on the top of Nedalsklumpen grows the flower Arctic diapensia together with Creeping azalea. North side of the mountain has significantly more rich flower species as Lousewort, Sedge and Wolly willow. Well up on the plateau you take to the left or south and follow the summer route back down to Nedalshytta. Along this route is the mountain cactus growing, also called Roseroot.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TRIPIf you want to extend the walk with 7 km, you can take a nice walk up on the north eastern top of the trail around Nedalsklumpen where you turn east towards the southwest side of Bandaklumpens. By the two mires, located by the hill side in the valley between Banda-klumpen and Nedalsklumpen you have big chanses to see the bird Long-tailed Skua. Follow the mountain foot of Bandaklumpen east until you come out on the sum-mertrail from Ekorrdörren, where you fold up and follow the path back west to Nedalshyttas parking.
