AEROSPACE EDUCATION CORNER

Summer is ending along with the many

activities your unit participated in. The Director of Aerospace Education needs

written responses of what each unit has done, that relates to Aerospace Educa-

AEROSPACE ED CORNER

29 & 30 August is the Offutt Air Show starting @ 9a.m. This year enjoy the

USN Blue Angels, USA Golden Knights, C17 Globemaster III, Extra

300S, F15 Eagle, F15 Falcon, MiG-17 MX2, and the Staudacher S300D will

all perform. Find out more at www.offuttairshow.com

LOOKING FOR SOME YEAGERS!

We need four more members to take the Yeager Exam to complete our goal of 10 for this year. We will take more tho!!! So far, 6 have completed this exam. It has been suggested to take the open-book test as a group during a meeting night. Be sure to

take your laptop, so everyone can join in. Take yours today and help us

complete our goal!

CALLING ONE AND ALL: This will be your last chance this

year to attend the Squadron Leadership School and Corporate Learning Courses that every sen-ior member needs to complete in the Senior Level Awards Program. They are scheduled for 24 Octo-ber at Camp Ashland. We must

have enough students to make the classes worthwhile. This Mean’s You!!

Send your completed CAPF 17 (and signed by your unit com-mander) to Wing Headquarters NLT 15 Sept. See you there!!!!

ALL SENIOR MEMBERS:

“SPECIALTY TRACKS”

Upon joining as a CAP member (or anytime after join-

ing), make sure your squadron commander or profes-

sional development officer at the squadron enrolls

you in the specialty track of your choice. You will not

get credit for completion of the many courses avail-

able to us as senior members to excel further in the

Senior Level Program to receive the many Awards

and very deserved Promotions without this square

filled! The duty assignment does not automatically

enroll you in the specialty track.

“TRAINING COURSES”

It is preferred that the Squadron Leadership School

be taken prior to the Corporate Learning Course. If

the CLC is taken first, credit for this course will not

be given until completion of the SLS, at which time

the CAPF 11 for the CLC has to be re-submitted to

get the completion date on the members record at

National. Squadron Commanders and their Profes-

sional Development Officers should recommend the

SLS first and followed by the CLC. The Director of

the these courses will not know what you have com-

pleted prior and when your CLC does not show up on

your record, it could be because you haven’t taken

the SLS or are not assigned to a Specialty Track.

Refer to CAPF 50-17, CAP Senior Member Profes-

sional Development Program, Attachment 1, page 25

for the progression and awards chart.

Lester “Keith” Glaze: Colonel Bob Todd recently attended a rededication ceremony of the Broken Bow Municipal Airport that has been renamed Keith Glaze Field, after a local aviator who was committed to better-ing the facility. Lester Keith Glaze, who passed away December 17, 2008, was known for giving his time and money to maintaining the airport. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Commander of the former Custer Composite Squadron. He served with the U.S. Air Force in World War II, flying more than 90 flights. Secre-tary of State John Gale, who spoke at the ceremony called Glaze “a priceless gem”. Check out the Nebraska Aviation Hall of Fame, where Keith is recognized among others: www.aero.state.ne.us/glaze.htm. To see the entire list of aviators, leave
