3.1.3 Landscape Overview

The scenario 1: Migration to SAP ASE is a standard approach using Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM), which describes a migration to the SAP ASE database with the standard export and import method. Unicode migration is an optional service and is covered by the migration tool.

3.2 Scenario 2: Migration to SAP ASE with Minimized Downtime(only SAP Consulting)

The Minimized Downtime Migration approach is based on the Near Zero Downtime (NZDT) methodology provided by SAP. With this approach it is possible to reduce the technical downtime significantly compared to a standard approach. With NZDT also a Unicode conversion can be performed. Only ABAP stack system is supported.

Only SAP Consulting is allowed to perform the migration with minimized downtime approach. The used tool is not yet released to partners and customers.

It is mandatory that consultants have completed the following training:
