May 20,2012 The Northeastern Section of the American Chemical Society (NESACS) announced on May 10, 2012 that National Chemistry Champion Ruifan Pei has qualified to compete for one of four spots on the U.S. team bound for the 44th annual International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). A senior at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, he is one of only 20 students selected out of 12,000 nation-wide who took the exams. He is the only National Chemistry Champion from New England. On Saturday, May 19, 2012, Ruifan Pei was awarded the Founders Scholarship for $10,000 from Nova Biomedical Corp. in Waltham, MA. He will be going to MIT to study chemical engineering in the fall. A photo of three of Nova’s founders with Ruifan is attached.
