FTS 2000 Udate Do not use access code 9 for making long distance

calls. If DSN/AUTOVON is not available, dial 5 to gain access to FTS 2000 Network.

FTS 2000 is less expensive and has an adequate number of lines to assure ready access. Long distance calls through direct dial are for international calls only. The school's direct dial long distance bill continues to be excessive. Using FTS 2000 will reduce this cost. TEST YOUR DETECTOR

ITS SOUND ADVICE Your smoke detectors are only as good

as the batteries that power them. Make sure your smoke detectors have what it takes to warn you if there's a fire.

DETECTOR (FROM PAGE 3) Test them weekly by pushing the test button and replace the batteries with new ones at least once a year, or when they chirp, signalling low power.

Most fatal home fires occur at night when people are asleep. Smoke won't awaken you -- in fact, it will probably put you into a deeper sleep -- so you need the sound of a smoke detector to warn you of fire so you can escape. Keep your smoke detectors working so you'll be protected.

The NPS Frre Department, located on the corner of Sloat and 3rd Streets, will be hosting an open house on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
