Orthodox Christian Stewardship is a way of life,
which acknowledges account-
ability, reverence, and responsibility before God. A primary goal of
Stewardship is to promote spiritual growth and strengthen faith. Be-
coming a Steward begins when we believe in God, to whom we give
our love, loyalty and trust and act on those beliefs. As Stewards, we af-
firm that every aspect of our lives comes as a gift from Him. Steward-
ship calls on the faithful to cheerfully offer back to God a portion of
the gifts with which they have been blessed.
An Orthodox Christian Steward is an active participant in the life of
the Church. The parish encourages all who accept the Orthodox Faith
to become practicing Stewards. Each year the Steward is expected to
carefully review his or her personal circumstances and make a commit-
ment of time, talent, and treasure to support the Parish and her Minis-
tries, which in turn support the National Ministries of our Archdio-
cese, Metropolises, and institutions.

The Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp (MDSC), located near Rose City, MI since 1951, is now accepting camper registration and staff applications for the upcoming 2015 summer camp season! Every year, approximately 400 youth from the parishes in Michigan, Ohio and northern Indiana attend MDSC. The camp has one week for older campers who are entering senior year or who have just graduated, and five other weeks for campers going into the 3rd through 11th grades. Campers are split into groups by grade (Juniors – grades 3-5, Intermediates – grades 6-8 and Seniors – grades 9-11) and they are supervised by our camp staff at all times. During the week, campers experience daily activities that include Arts & Crafts, swimming lessons, Orthodox Life sessions, as well as open swimming/boating on Echo Lake, outdoor activities on the camp’s playing field or basketball court and all-camp events like skits, dances and many other fun events. The camp’s cooks are outstanding and the campers and staff eat very well! Beyond the activities, MDSC is a unique and special place where everyone feels accepted, where great friendships form and where young people have experiences they will never have anywhere else. MDSC would like to encourage you to register your child(ren) today for a week at camp! Weeks fill quickly! Camper tuition is $360 per week, and online registration can be completed through a link on the camp’s website: www.gomdsc.org. The camp also hires young adults as Counselors-in-Training (age 17), Lifeguards (age 17 & over) and Cabin Counselors (ages 18 & over). Staff can work one or several weeks at camp and gain valuable work experience and service hours. A link to the online Staff applications can also be found on the camp’s website. Please visit the camp website (www.gomdsc.org) to find more information about the camp dates, camp programs, daily schedule, history and even view pictures from past summers on the website. Should you have any questions, please call (248) 909-MDSC (6372) or email us at [email protected].

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, know-ing that tribulation produces perseverance; and persever-ance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not
disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
-Romans 5:3-5
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do
to me?
-Psalm 118:6
Blessed is the man who endures trial, for when he has
stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God
has promised to those who love him.
-James 1:12
WISDOM
Lord Jesus Christ, You received the children who came to You, received also from Your child this evening prayer. Shelter me
under the protection of Your wings that I may lie down in peace and sleep. Awaken me in due time that I may glorify You, for
You alone are good and love all people
Into Your hands, O Lord Jesus Christ, I commend my spirit and body; bless me, save, and grant me eternal life.
The Father is my hope, the Son is my refuge, the Holy Spirit is
my shelter. Holy Trinity, Glory to You.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.
