Culturally important plants.
Many are now grown as cultivars.

Columbine attracts hummingbirds and is great for a woodland or semi-shaded garden.

BLACK-EYED SUSAN
Short-lived perennial (also considered an annual and biennial)
Reseeds itself and has a nice long season of bloom.
It is a work horse of a plant for controlling erosion and is very useful in restoration projects!
Makes a nice cut flower, attracts butterflies and is resistant to deer!

Fireweed is very attractive to bees and butterflies .

Virginia Bluebells are a very welcome colorful show in the spring!
Flower buds turn from pink to lavender even to almost blue....

Little Bluestem’s popularity is owed to its bright turquoise color, it is a great contrast to surrounding grasses and flowers.
