We wouldsee Jesus

One of the great joys of ministry is to

see the faces of people when their

hearts explode with the revelation of

God’s love for them!

Since 1984 Heidi and I have endeav-

ored to impart to people the finished

work of Jesus letting them know that

they are loved completely and accepted

eternally before God in Christ!

This is why we want people to see

Jesus so they can understand what He

has done on the cross as well as how

they can rest in Him by faith.

With our six international campuses

around the world, and with some of the

most beautiful and blessed team mem-

bers serving along side of us, we want to

let everyone know how much God loves

them just as they are!

Thanks for joining your faith with us

in all of our “missionary assignments”

around the world. Together, as we join

our faith, we can change our world!

In Mutual Faith,

I can see clearly now!

Have you ever had a difficult time see-

ing? Recently I had my eyes checked, as I

was having difficulty reading small print –

a task that has always been simple for me.

Getting older, I have realized my eyes don’t

always see clearly. In other words, I do not

have 20/20 vision. Now, reading glasses

are a necessity.

Often, in our lives, the eyes of our heart

get blurred and we forget to focus on Jesus

and what He has done for us to qualify us

completely before the Father. Instead, we

focus on ourselves and our performance

towards God. And when we are honest

with ourselves, we realize that we cannot

perform perfectly so we become frustrated

and condemned in our walk with God.

This is why we are introducing 20/20.

This is a thrust of ministry that Mutual Faith

is launching for a duration of 8 years until

the end of 2020. We desire to help people

make the appropriate “adjustments” in the

way they see Jesus so they can have a

stronger revelation of God’s love for them!

In John’s Gospel, when the Greeks

showed up to the feast in Jerusalem, they

asked Philip, “Sir, we would see Jesus!”John 12:21

The 20/20program is a

simple way you canhelp reach the

nations and pointpeople to Christ!

When Andrew and Philip toldJesus His response was somewhatsurprising. Instead of inviting theGreeks to see Him physically, Jesusspoke of His death on the cross.Jesus wants us to see Him spiru-tally and recognize what His deathhas done for all of us in qualifyingus eternally before the Father!Grace is now granted to all inChrist Jesus!

We desire people to “behold theLamb” and see what He has donefor all of us. His sufficiency is nowour sufficiency! His work is whatworks for us! By faith, we can be-lieve and receive everything Hehas provided.

Join us everyday by beholdingJesus! Your spiritual eyes will seemore clearly what He has done foryou! Your faith will flourish too!Follow us on Facebook and twit-ter, and log on to thewww.2020focus.org website tosee videos and listen to podcasts. We believe your heart will beblessed immeasurably as you seeJesus more clearly!

When we see Jesus clearly, andunderstand what He has done forus at the cross, we can appraisethe value of His love for us in agreater way.

Since 1984, after years of teach-ing, preaching, and planting mul-tiple Missions Campuses aroundthe globe, Keith and Heidi are stillenthused about their assignmentto impart the grace of God in aneven greater way in the hearts ofmen and women around theworld, and see hearts encouragedand united in faith.

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHTGENERAL SANTOS CITY, PHILIPPINES by: Justin Hershey

This fall I was blessed to joinmy father and visit our teamin General Santos City, Philip-

pines. Between the four flights andlayovers, the trip took over thirty-five hours of travel from my homein Los Angeles to reach the south-ern tip of the island of Mindanao. Itis here we have our Mutual FaithMission Center and our twenty-four hour MFM Cable TV Channel.Talk about reaching the corners ofthe earth!

The islands of the Philippines are

very diverse in geography and to-pography. The area where ourteam ministers is a mixture of farm-lands, forests, and beautiful clearwater beaches. Our Mission Centeritself is located just below an inac-tive volcano. For the past decadewe have managed the Mutual FaithTV Channel; broadcasting the loveof Christ from many of our partnerchurches here in the states, as wellas indigenous Filipino program-ming produced onsite at our stu-dio in the Mission Center.

As of now, we are the only Chris-tian programming available oncable networks in the region. Sincethe channel has grown and ex-panded to more areas, we havebeen able to plant churches withalumni from our Life Leadership In-stitute Bible schools as pastors andelders. Although the televisionministry is a big part of what ourteam does, they do so much more.

Mutual Faith Ministries has con-tinued to work in the Philippinesfor over twenty years now and has

been blessed to have as our directors, the husbandand wife team of Johnny and Josephine DeVila. Theirdesire to reach the unloved with the love of Christ isinfectious. Josephine is constantly traveling to differ-ent villages each day holding Bible studies and liter-acy programs, teaching children and adults how toread and write. This not only benefits people in theirwalk with the Lord but also helps them keep up withthe local government and vote in elections. In addi-tion to leading the Mutual Faith team, Johnny pastorsa local church, which meets on the Mission CenterCampus. The Church has become a huge part of theoutreach team for Mutual Faith, that serves people liv-ing in villages throughout the area.

This past year we were given a parcel of land adja-cent to our property and are now putting togetherthe primary plans together for an orphanage! Theneed in this region is so great as there are many chil-dren on the street without families or hope. The two-story structure will be a home for up to forty children. Our team is excited to bring a future to these kids andshow them the love of Jesus. In addition to the or-phanage project, we hope to buy an additional pieceof land on which to construct a school.

From the outside looking in these two projects canlook very daunting, but we are blessed to be joiningour faith with the local believers and our supportersworldwide to make this a reality. In the past few yearsthere has been quite a bit of unrest from Muslim ter-rorist groups in the area. The first time I visited the cityfive years ago, the bus depot was bombed the day Ileft. People are looking for answers and hungry toknow the love of Christ. It is because of partners likeyou that we can tell people all over the world thatGod loves them completely, and we do to!

Have you ever heard the saying, “being in theright place, at the right time?” Since the terroristattacks on September 11, 2001, one of the

main assignments of Mutual Faith has been to bring the“Grace Truth” of Jesus to this Middle East region.

As a teenage boy, knowing my parents were travelingto what is thought to be one of the most dangerous re-gions in the world, it didn’t exactly put my nerves at

ease. But now working with my parents in that regionand being a part of the acquisition and remodeling ofthe Middle East Life Center, it has helped me learn first-hand: that God is working mightily in the Middle East!

This is one of the most strategic places to be able toshare the love of Christ. The needs in the Middle Eastare so great. From the civil wars in Syria and Egypt, toconstant political unrest in Lebanon and Israel, we have

seen a steady stream of refugees pour into Beirut fromthe surrounding area. Each one of these people has astory, many looking for a new beginning, and many justtrying to survive.

This summer while ministering with a team fromSouthern California, I met a lady who had lost her legand her husband due to civil war. She was filled with somuch rage and hate. After talking with a translator, weprayed with the woman and she started to weep. Thatweek, every time the doors of the center were open, she was there, laughing, talking, and wanting to helpin any way possible.

Another one of my acquaintances these past fewyears has been a young boy named Muhammad, whowas a refugee from Syria. When he first came to Springof Life, our free school for refugees and under privi-leged children, he was full of hurt and didn’t want to lis-ten to anyone in authority. But, as the years went on Isaw him grow into a respectful young man full of love.Muhammad wasn’t at the center this last year, and hadreturned to Syria with his family, but I know that thelove of Christ will be with him wherever he goes.

This is what our team is doing right now in the MiddleEast, raising up tomorrow’s leaders, and I have to say, they couldn’t be doing a better job. At the Spring of LifeSchool, we have up to 80 children learning three lan-guages, mathematics, and science. They are treatedwith the love and respect that every child deserves. Inaddition to the school, we have a free medical clinic on-site that serves the needs of many of the undocu-mented refugee families that haveflooded into the neighborhood. We also have a warehouse inwhich we are able to give food andclothing to those in need.

Throughout the year we hostevents including our largest event,Kingdom Fiesta, where we bringtogether many of the culturalchurches throughout the region

for a three day celebration. In addition we hold Leader-ship Training & Evangelism programs to equip the lead-ers of the future.

Our journey these past four years of acquiring andbuilding out the Life Center has been anything but easy, but it has been awesome to see the love of Christ beginto saturate this very influential region. Nothing wouldhave been possible without the generous donationsand prayers from partners—like you! Right now we cansay that the center is DEBT-FREE, and we are so grate-ful!

SPRING OF lIFECHILDREN’S SCHOOLApproximatly 80 children each day recieve education and mentor-ing, along with a good meal. Most of the children are from Muslimand refugee backgrounds-and they are introduced to the good-news of the Gospel. Thanks for praying and helping these kids.

A present problemOver 180,000 Syrian refugees are inLebanon, with many seeking help at theMiddle East Life Center. It’s been a wideopen door to share the love of Jesus Christ!

GHANASLAVE RESCUEEvery year ladies are being rescued and restored from Trokosi slaveryin West Africa.

Restoration! We all need it at one time or an-other… And once we find our restoration inChrist, we should look for opportunities to

pass it on, and provide others with an environmentwhere they can find hope and help through the fin-ished work of Jesus.

In the Volta region of Ghana, West Africa, this isexactly what Ben Nanortey and our Mutual Faithteam is doing. Ben reports, “We are grateful to Godthat we met our targets this year. We were able tograduate twelve girls from our Restoration Centerprogram.”

Since building this campus, Mutual Faith has

graduated scores of young ladies who either havebeen freed from Trokosi slavery, or susceptible tothe hideous scheme. God has been so faithful toeach of these precious ladies, and they havelearned of the Father’s love for them as well asgained an education and skills for an occupation sothey can be re-established in their villages andcommunities.

Ben commented, “Our students graduated in De-cember, and they were sent to their home villages. This year they came from 6 villages in 3 regions. Itwas a time of tears of joy as we laid hands on thempraying and releasing them into Gods hands. Wetrust the Lord that they will continue in the thingsthat they have learned, and to make an impactwhere ever they go.”

The Restoration Center has a staff of four people– Christy, Sarah, Gordon and Pastor Christopher. The team also has a weekend feeding program forvillage children and mentors them academically aswell as in the love of God! The campus is always fullof kids learning and playing.

Jewelry making is just one of the trades thewomen learn at the Restoration Center. They alsolearn sewing and baking. These trades along withthe business startup money that is given to themupon graduation enables them to make a living forthemselves. The lives of these ladies are blessedabundantly at the Restoration Center.

Joseph could have had a tough time accepting his fa-ther’s gift. He had done absolutely nothing to earn it.He could have thought that proudly wearing such abeautiful and ornate robe would anger some of hisbrothers whose hearts were not rooted in love and de-cided not to wear it. Many people have a hard time ac-cepting gifts with no strings attached. They either wantto pay something for it, or they feel obliged to returnthe favor in the future. Martin Luther put it this way, “IfGod were willing to sell His grace, we would accept itmore quickly and gladly than when He offers it for noth-ing.” But Joseph did not hesitate to gladly receive andwear the gift of his father. His brothers gave him a verytough time simply because Joseph had accepted hisbeloved position.

One day, while his brothers were out tending theflock, Joseph was asked by his father to go see if all waswell with them. After heading out, the Bible goes on to

say that his brothers, “saw him in the distance, and be-fore he reached them, they plotted to kill him” (Gen37:18). They said things like, “Let us now kill him andcast him into some pit and we shall say some wild beasthas devoured him” (Gen 37:19). So they “stripped himof his robe—the richly ornamented robe he was wear-ing—and they took him and threw him into the cistern”(Gen 37:23-24).

What an interesting detail in this story! Joseph didnot come in just any old robe. Joseph came in the richlyornamented robe of his father’s love! He was not intim-idated by what other people thought of his belovedstatus. The first thing his brothers thought to do, be-cause of their anger towards him, was to strip him ofthat beloved status. In their hatred and resentmentthey went for the jugular hoping that Joseph wouldhave an identity crisis and never identify with his fa-ther’s love again. A little later they would sell him as a

slave to the Ishmaelites for 20 pieces of silver. Then theydipped his richly ornamented robe in the blood of agoat, to convince their father that a wild beast hadkilled Joseph.

Similarly, Jesus was betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, stripped of His clothes, beaten, scourged, and mockedwith a purple robe. Then He had that blood-stainedrobe ripped from his body, and was forced to carry hisown cross to Mount Calvary. Just as Jesus looked in faithto his Father during this trial, so too, Joseph never lostfaith in his father or his father’s God.

Though his brothers had attacked what they thoughtwas the most meaningful thing to him—the robe of hisfather’s love and affection; the robe was only a symbol.Joseph had already deeply internalized the love of hisearthly father as well as the love of his Heavenly Father. While his brothers may have been able to take away thesymbol of their father’s love and affection, they could

not take away what had already found deep roots inJoseph’s own heart.

Having the love of the Father anchored in his heartwas crucial not just for the life of Joseph, but it is crucialfor the life of every child of God. It is essential that weever possess deep, unshakable roots in the Father’s lovetoward us. The Apostle Paul said that his prayer and de-sire for us was that our “roots will grow down into God’slove and keep you strong” and we would “experiencethe love of Christ, though it is too great to understandfully” (Eph 3:17, 19, NLT).
