This academy and its admission, instruction & graduation policies; practice “no discrimination” on the basis of sex, creed, race, religion, color, age, financial status,

Wright Beauty Academy does not offer housing, transportation, or child care to the student. These issues should be thoroughly resolved before the student begins their training so there are no interruptions. Students are scheduled to complete

their training in a timely manner.

Students must score at least 80% on all homework, worksheets, calendars and tests. Each practical assignment has separate criteria for pass or fail. The Senior Final Exam must be passed with a minimum of 80% in each category. Those students that have not completed their testing by the contracted ending date will be charged by the hour as per their contract to complete the course.

WBA maintains a staff of licensed and qualified instructors. Instructors

have both salon and school experience along with impressive

credentials.

An employment counselor is continuously maintained to help graduates find employment. As long as graduates remain in the beauty industry, or return to it, the employment services is available to them. The academy will provide student with placement assistance which will consist of identifying employment opportunities and advising student on appropriate means of attempting to realize the opportunities. Cosmetology schools are prohibited by law to guarantee employment. Student understands that the school has not made and will not make any guarantees of employment or salary upon graduation.

• Following graduation students are eligible to take the State Board Test.

• The academy will provide information packet that includes: forms & instructions to set up to test, different testing locations.

• The first time testing fee is $144. The fee is sent directly to the testing organization.

• In addition, students will pay $39 to the State of MI to purchase their license.

• Graduation occurs when the student reaches the prescribed hours in their course of study.

• Satisfactorily completes their projects, tests and practicals.

• Tuition must be paid in full before the end of contracted hours.

• Diploma awarded upon completion.

All termination and cancellations must be in writing, signed and dated. The date the cancellation is postmarked will be deemed the cancellation date. For students who enroll in and begin classes, the following schedule of tuition adjustment will be considered to meet the minimum standards for refunds.

Students who have reached an elapsed time of 50.1% are liable for all of the tuition and are excluded from pro-rata refund calculations

Students receiving Pell Grants will be subject to Federal pro-rata guidelines.

Students not attending this institution for the first time will be charged using the above chart with the following change: percentage of actual attendance time will be changed to “percentage of hours enrolled for.” This will allow the school to charge the student for the hours they enrolled for, as per contract. (The school is ordered to comply with NACCAS termination policy and must terminate a student within 30 days of the last day of attendance if there is no prior notification.) The thirtieth day then constitutes the termination date. Any refund must be made within 30 days of that date.

If a student fails to return from a leave of absence on the scheduled date of return, as documented in the student’s file, the documented date of return constitutes the formal termination date and any refund must be made within 30 days, unless student notifies the school that she will not be returning. The time elapsed between the last physical attendance and the termination date must not be included in the refund computations.

In case of illness or disabling accident, death of a family member or circumstances beyond the control of the student, a settlement will be made that is both fair to the student and the school.

If the school closes and no longer offers the courses after a student has enrolled, the student shall be entitled to a pro-rata refund.

If a course is canceled subsequent to a student’s enrollment, and before instruction in the course has begun, the school shall at it’s option:

Provide completion of the course or

Provide a full refund of all monies paid with tuition adjustment guidelines

If the school closes before the actual starting date, all monies paid shall be refunded.

If a course is dropped after the student has started, either the course shall be completed or a pro-rata refund given. Refunds will be given in the following order: (1) Pell (2) Student

An applicant not accepted by the school shall be entitled to refund of all monies paid, with the exception of a non-refundable application fee.

Student cancels within three business days, all monies collected by the school shall be refunded, with the exception of the non-refundable application fee.

Policy applies regardless of whether or not the student actually started training.

Student must cancel in writing.

Cancellation date determined by postmark or by date notification delivered in person.

Student cancels after three business days, but prior to starting class, student entitled to full refund less the application fee, registration or enrollment fee. (Amount must be stated for each program.)

Any monies due are refunded within 30 days of written cancellation or termination.

If the student does not notify the school that he/she is withdrawing, formal termination shall be based on monitoring of participation determined by the institution:

- academic counseling or advising - class - examinations - tutorials

- computer-assisted instruction - other academically related activities

Students who do not return from a leave of absence, last date of leave is used as the termination date.

Costs not included in tuition are stated in catalog and on enrollment agreement.

Any applicable teach-out plans for students participating in Title IV student financial assistance programs must comply with the following:

- School closure plans must offer the student a reasonable opportunity to promptly resume and complete the canceled program(s) or similar program at an institution or institutions which offer similar educational programs.

- Teach-out to be performed by an institution in the same geographic area as original school.

- Teach-out school shall not change students more than the original school would have been entitled under its contract, and for which the student has not paid.

Federally funded. Based on criteria provided by the Federal Department of Education. WBA is eligible to participate in this program by being nationally accredited.

Assists low income families, single parent homes, newly separated and unemployed.

You need to provide WBA with your previous year’s prepared Federal Income Tax form or any annual state from Social Security, Social Services, child support or unemployment.

The following documents must also be provided: drivers license, social security card, and high school or GED diploma.

Alternative loan for higher education and specialized training programs.

Available for those who have an adjusted family gross income of $60K or less.

Must be member of farming family or resident of a small rural community i.e.: Marshall, Tekonsha, Athens, Three Rivers

* All financial aid described is dependent upon meeting each program’s criteria and maintaining standards of satisfactory progress while enrolled in any of WBA’s programs.

No time off without permission, a doctor’s excuse may be required after ill absences or irregular attendance. Frequent absences are cause for suspension or dismissal.

The school does not tolerate the use of alcohol, narcotics, loud or profane language, dishonesty, insubordinance or combative actions. Violators will be subject to suspension, dismissal or legal action.

Students agree to park in designated areas as assigned by the school.

Students agree to keep their equipment and work areas clean and sanitary at all times.

No gum chewing, eating, or drinking in unauthorized areas of the school.

Students must maintain satisfactory progress as defined in school policy: 80% on written testing and a minimum of 70% of scheduled attendance. Students failing to meet both of these criteria will be given a probationary period as stated in policy.

Students failing to meet standards during the probationary period will be terminated, lose financial aid or both. Any remaining balance will be paid by student.

Students agree to obey the basic uniform code of black shirt or WBA t-shirt, black pants or skirt, hose or socks, closed toed shoes and nametag.

Students are to be on time for class and follow their contracted hour schedule. If student is more than 10 minutes late they will be sent home.

Students will sign in & out for breaks outside of building (still on school property).

No more than 7 hours are allowed in one day.

Habitual tardiness will result in suspension and/or dropped from the program.

Programs are conducted on a clock hour basis; therefore makeup hours are not applicable.

Makeup homework and assignments may be completed during regular class hours. The school will not add assignments, add or delete hours, or add additional penalties for any reason.
