Continuing Professional Development

• At least 20 hours/points of CPD• RN’s with scheduled medicines

endorsement & NP’s endorsed under the National Law must complete an extra 10 hours related to the endorsement

• 1 hr of active learning = I pt of CPD• CPD must be relevant to the nurse’s

context of practice• Written documentation that

demonstrates evidence• Must include dates, description of

outcome, number of hours spent in each activity and be verified

Continuing Professional Development (cont’d)

• Demonstration of learning needs based against the ANMC guidelines (annual appraisal)

• Reflection of the value of the learning activity and the impact on their practice

• Mandatory skills acquisition may be counted towards CPD

• Annual audit of 2% of nurses registered in Australia
