• A national park is a piece of land set aside by the government for environmental preservation and recreational purposes.

What makes National Parks Unique?

• They are owned by all of the people of the united states.

• National Parks are established by an act of congress.

• National Parks are run by the national Park service.

What would you find in all national parks?

• People! National parks are set aside for people to enjoy them.

• Nature! National parks are set aside to protect the plants and animals of the natural environment.

• History! Natural parks have a long history which is preserved by the national park itself.

What are some important rules related to National Parks?

• There is no hunting allowed in national parks.

• It is against the law to collect plants, rocks, shells, and historical artifacts from national parks.

What are some ethical debates regarding national parks?

• Should animals that have become extinct be restored in national parks?

• If a national park is in need of money for upgrades, should visitor fees be raised, or should tax-payers pay for the upgrades.

How have national parks changed over time?

• In the past, people had less access to national parks, so fewer visitors could appreciate the parks. In modern times, new roads and trails allow visitors to enjoy more of the parks.

• In the past, visitors were allowed to approach and feed the animals. In modern times, people are forbidden to approach or feed the animals.
