THE COMPETITIONFor over twenty years, the Center for Health Law and Policy at Southern Illinois University School of Law, the Department of Medical Humanities at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, the American College of Legal Medicine, and the American College of Legal Medicine Foundation have sponsored the National Health Law Moot Court Competition. The Competition is held annually at the Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale, Illinois. The two-day Competition is one of the premier moot court experiences in the nation and attracts teams representing law schools from throughout the country.

COMPETITION INFORMATIONPRIZES: $1,000 First Place, $750 Second Place, $500 each to Third Place, Best Brief, and Best Overall Oralist, and $250 each to Runner-up Best Brief and Best Preliminary Round Oralist. The American College of Legal Medicine and Center for Health Law and Policy contribute these prize funds.

RECOGNITION: The Best Brief will be published in an issue of the Journal of Legal Medicine.

LOCATION: Southern Illinois University School of Law, 1150 Douglas Drive, Carbondale, Illinois 62901

ENTRY FORM AND FEES: Entry forms are due June 27, 2013. The entry fee of $350 per team or $600 for two teams is due by September 4. Fees must be received by September 4 or your registration will be cancelled. Checks or money orders should be made payable to SIU School of Law. NOTE: We are no longer able to accept credit cards, so please plan accordingly.

TEAMS: Up to 32 teams from ABA-accredited law schools or law schools currently seeking ABA accreditation may participate in the Competition. Each participating school may enter one or two teams. If the Competition is over-subscribed, the Committee reserves the right to place additional teams on a wait list or otherwise limit participation. Each team shall be composed of two or three students, all of whom must be full-time (day or night) law students currently enrolled in a J.D. program at the time of the Competition.

RULES/PROBLEM INFORMATION: The Record and the Rules will be available and posted on the Competition website (www.law.siu.edu/) on August 6. Briefs are due September 26.
