The Freshwater Land Trust (FWLT), in partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, will remove a small poured concrete dam located within a 226 acre preserve on Turkey Creek, providing an additional ½ mile of habitat to the vermilion darter and other aquatic life. After the dam is removed, FWLT will revegetate .25 acres with 500 native trees, shrubs and grass plugs to stabilize the streambanks and provide important riparian and forestsed habitat.
