Amendment in rule 95 of the Rules of Procedure.- In rule 95, the full stop shall be substituted with colon and
thereafter a proviso shall be added, namely:-
“Provided that if the question of privilege is disallowed then the Speaker shall announce the speaking
order in writing within twenty four hours after the raising of the question of privilege.”.
Amendment in rule 198 of the Rules of Procedure.- In rule 198, in the explanation, after the words “chapter
and comma” the words “the National Assembly Secretariat” shall be inserted.
Amendment in rule 216 of the Rules of Procedure.- In rule 216, in sub-rule (1), after the second proviso, the
full stop shall be substituted with colon and thereafter the following provisos shall be added, namely:-
“Provided further that if the office of Chairperson becomes vacant by reason of death, resignation or
removal or, if he is unable to perform the functions and duties of the office of Chairperson, the most senior
members of the Committee shall act as Chairperson until a Chairperson is elected in accordance with these Rules:
Provided also that when the Chairperson, by reason of absence from Pakistan or any other cause, is
unable to perform his functions, the most senior member of the Committee shall perform the functions of
Chairperson until the Chairperson returns to Pakistan or, as the case may be, resumes his functions.”.
Amendment in rule 217 of the Rules of Procedure.- In rule 217, after the full stop the colon shall be substituted
and thereafter a proviso shall be added, namely:-
“Provided that if the meeting is called under Rule 225, and production orders of any detained members
has been sought under Rule 108, then the members detained in custody shall be counted as present for the
purposes of the quorum of the meeting.”.
Amendment in rule 225 of the Rules of Procedure.- In rule 225, in sub-rule (5), for the word “Speaker” the
words “the most senior member of the Committee” shall be substituted.
Amendment in rule 239 of the Rules of Procedure.- In rule 239, in sub-rule (1), after the full stop the colon
shall be substituted and thereafter following provisos shall be added, namely:-
“Provided that if the chairperson is unable to perform duties and functions or fail to do due consultation
or fail to call the meeting which has been requisitioned under Rule 225(4) or fail to exercise any power given by
these Rules or any law for the time being enforced then the most senior member shall perform the function and
duties as the Chairperson:” and
“Provided further that if the minister concerned is unable or fail to reply regarding the consultation within
fourteen days then the agenda, date and venue of meeting shall be finalized by the concerned Chairman”.
