INTRODUCING - AMANDA NASILASILA – Bachelor of Education, Dip teach Married to a Fijian man and we have two amazing boys aged 10 and 8 years old. My oldest son has Speech dyspraxia, ADHD and was diagnosed with Autism last year. Living in Te Awamutu – my two sons attend Pirongia School with me. Currently Deputy Principal in charge of year 5-8. We are committed to supporting a range of ventures to help maintain and support families in my husband’s village and the surrounding area which lifts them above the poverty line. Passionate about my job and making a difference to ensure all students succeed and are ready to succeed at secondary school.

Effective pedagogy must underpin all decisions made and this development must be supported through teachers understandings. Students must be problem solvers and must be provided with opportunities to learn how to learn inquiry process must enhance this. I have been instrumental in introducing BYOD to my current school at Year 7 and 8 and are working to see this flow through to Year 5 and 6. Future-focussed schools must address pedagogy and planning for modern learning environments to enhance learning outcomes.
