Advance Excellence in Court Management

Effective management of the courts requires a focus on all the essentials of court management including personnel, budget and facilities, and caseflow.

Caseflow management has expanded to include the multi-faceted approaches necessary to resolve all case types timely.

Courts must continue to provide essential services despite tightening budgets while being held accountable for their performance.

Promote Fair and Accessible Justice

Courts must be open to all as a venue for dispute resolution.

Ethical behavior is at the forefront of all that courts do.

Special populations, such as the disabled, elderly and those with limited English proficiency must have full and equal access to the courts.

Develop Leaders for Tomorrow's Challenges

Effective governance of our courts is critical to ensuring our courts are accountable.

Today’s courts need sound succession planning and transference of institutional knowledge is critical to ensure their continued success.

Court leaders must be skilled to lead today’s complex and diverse organizations.

Enhance Public Perceptions of the Courts

Public trust and confidence in the courts is critical to their functioning in society.

Partnering with the community and other branches and governmental agencies is necessary in today’s interlinked world.

Courts must reach out to the community, share information, promote civics education and explain the unique role of the courts.

“Committed to Excellence”

Why is the National Agenda Important?

• Reflect key judicial branch needs and interests

• Can spark discussion and innovation, and support the institutionalization of promising practices

• Can guide courts in identifying and working through challenges, brainstorming solutions, and developing meaningful strategies and partnerships to improve the administration of justice
