• Despite restoration efforts, over half of the world's mangroves have been destroyed by developers and others in recent times. The mangroves protect coastal areas from erosion and offer a quiet marine region for young organisms, oysters, sponges, shrimps, mud lobsters and critical species of fish and birds. People have to raise awareness of their importance.
