    OverviewThis document describes commands that are used when you use Huawei devices to deploy andmaintain network.For advanced maintenance commands used to locate problems in some faulty scenarios wherethe regular maintenance methods cannot locate problem and commands that cannot be executedmanually by users, the device may contain errors or the service may be interrupted if these twokinds of commands are incorrectly used. If you need these two kinds of commands, apply toHuawei for required documents.

    This section describes the functions and usage of common commands related to Nastar services.The Nastar system maintenance commands are saved in the server installation directory. Beforerunning Nastar commands, ensure that database services function normally and that the Nastarenvironment setting script svc_profile.sh is executed.

  • 1.1 start_svcThis section describes the command for starting Nastar daemons and service processes.

    Syntaxstart_svc

    DescriptionNone.

    Function1. Application scenario

    This command is used for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.2. Function

    This command is used to start all the daemons and service processes of the Nastar. If thesystem is started, this command attempts to restart all the services and notifies you of therestart.

    PrerequisitesThe prerequisites for running this command are as follows:l You have logged in to the server as user omcuser.l The operating system and database are running properly.l The TAO Naming Service and TAO Notification Service are configured correctly.l In the Linux operating system, the svc_profile.sh script is executed and the environment

    variables are set.

    Precautionsl In an SLS system, you must start services in sequence. Run the start_svc command on the

    master board and then run the start_svc command on the slave board.l When you run the start_svc command to start Nastar services, the start_svc command

    calls the testDB script to check whether the database is running. If the database is notrunning, the shell window displays a message indicating the database status.

    l When you run the start_daem and svc_adm -cmd start commands to start Nastar services,the commands do not call the testDB script to check whether the database is running. If thedatabase is not running, no message is displayed and certain database-dependent servicescannot be started.

    This command is used to start Nastar service processes.

  • You are advised not to terminate Nastar service processes. Perform this operation onlywhen the processes are hung or abnormal.

    2. FunctionThis command is used to terminate all Nastar service processes of the Nastar.

    Prerequisitesl You have logged in to the server as user omcuser.l In the Linux operating system, the svc_profile.sh script is executed and the environment

    variables are set.

    Precautionsl Usually, you can run the stop_svc command to stop Nastar service processes.l Running this command might cause Nastar service data loss or abnormal services. Exercise

    caution when running this command to stop Nastar service processes.

    This command is used to start Nastar service processes.l stop_svc.

    This command is used to stop Nastar service processes.l kill_svc.

    This command is used to terminate Nastar service process.

    ExampleRun the following command to terminate all Nastar service processes:# kill_svc

    SyntaxFollowing are five methods for viewing the running status of Nastar services:l Run the following command to view the status of all Nastar services:

    l Run the following command to view the status of all Nastar services under a system agentin the configuration file:

    l Run the following command to view the status of all data management services under theNastar system monitoring agent:# svc_adm -cmd status -svcname DataMgrServiceThe status of the data management services under the system monitoring agent can beRunning, No License, or Not Running.

    This command is used for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.2. Function

    This command is used to start all inactive Nastar services.

    PrerequisitesThe prerequisites for running this command are as follows:l You have logged in to the server as user omcuser.l The TAO Naming Service and TAO Notification Service are running properly.l In the Linux operating system, the svc_profile.sh script is executed and the environment

    variables are set.

  • Precautionsl The sequence for starting services is determined by the dependency of each Nastar service.

    After running this command, you can run the svc_adm -cmd status command to view therunning status of Nastar services.

    l When you run the start_svc command to start Nastar services, the start_svc commandcalls the testDB script to check whether the database is running. If the database is notrunning, the shell window displays a message indicating the database status.

    l When you run the start_daem and svc_adm -cmd start commands to start Nastar services,the commands do not call the testDB script to check whether the database is running. If thedatabase is not running, no message is displayed and certain database-dependent servicescannot be started.

    This command is used to restart a Nastar service based on the following procedure: stopthe Nastar service and the Nastar services which are dependent on it, restart the Nastarservice, and then restart the Nastar services which are dependent on it.
