    Egle Jarkova Trio

    In 2015, the Bach’s Lunch performance by violinist Egle Jarkova and pianist Rui Urayama brought down the house. This year they return with Aristides Rivas on cello, performing trios by Beethoven and Arensky, and Piazzolla’s “Oblivion.”

    Mezzo-Soprano Danute Mileika

    Danute Mileika has performed in New York at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and in Boston at Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, and on WGBH radio. Major roles include Ulrica in “Un Ballo in Maschera,” Amneris in “Aida,” Adalgisa in “Norma,” and Lola in “Cavalleria Rusticana.” She will be accompanied by Tanya Shrago.

    North Winds Family Concert

    You’re welcome to bring the whole family to this concert to hear a consort of recorders, “the lonely fipple,” and other woodwinds including unusual instruments like an alto flute, English horn, bass clarinet, and contrabassoon.

    Bloom/Leighton Flute and Guitar Duo

    Boston-based Peter Bloom and Mark Leighton perform chamber music from the salons of Vienna, Paris, and Sao Paulo, including the spectacular Grand Duo for Flute and Guitar by Mauro Giuliani and Prelude No. 1 by Heitor Villa-Lobos.

    Seven Times Salt

    Join this early music ensemble for “Easy as Lying,” a concert of lively music played on replicas of instruments used in the 1600s, interspersed with short readings from Shakespeare's plays.

    Festival Chamber Players

    On the program is Dvorak’s “Serenade,” written for two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, three horns, cello, and double bass, along with some other pieces for woodwinds.

    Bach’s Lunch Concerts | Wednesdays at 12 noonKeep your Wednesday afternoons open this summer for our famous classical music concert series. Each performance lasts about an hour and is held downstairs in the Chandler Memorial Wing. Sponsored by the Ira F. Harris Trust, the Moses Hunt Trust, the Zylonis Fund, and the Nashua Public Library. New this year: A family concert, on July 18, that will delight audiences of all ages.

  • Summer Concerts on the PlazaBring a lawn chair or a blanket, pack a picnic basket, and chill out to music on the library lawn this summer on Thursdays at 7 pm. Summer Concerts on the Plaza are held in the library’s Chandler Memorial Wing if it rains. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Bloomfield Trust.

    The Pete Kilpatrick Band

    Pete Kilpatrick’s folk/rock band has been named Best Act four times in Portland, Maine’s Best Music Awards. They have shared the stage with the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Barenaked Ladies, Rusted Root, and Jason Mraz. And Pete’s music has been featured on The Office and The Young and the Restless. Join them for their Nashua Public Library debut.

    Criollo Clasico

    This contemporary Latin trio has played twice to standing ovations at the library. It features guitarist, composer, and virtuoso cuatro player Jose Gonzalez along with his sons, Ahmed on flute and guitar and Rene on bass and Latin percussion.

    Bullock Brothers Gospel

    Reverends Richard and George Bullock perform uplifting, powerful gospel music in a tradition passed to them by their father, “Singing Walter.” Now they are joined on stage by their own sons.

    Singer/Songwriter Jay Psaros

    Boston-based singer/songwriter Jay Psaros’s songs range from mellow crooners to roots rockers. Come find out why he’s been called a “storyteller of precision,” a “master guitar player,” and a musical “painter of beautiful, rolling images.”

    The Nick Goumas Jazz Quartet

    Saxophonist Nick Goumas has developed his own mature, imaginative style, performing with energy, feeling, and musical integrity and drawing on the American songbook along with today’s jazz standards. Joining him will be Geraldine Bergonzi on vocals and piano, Barry Smith on acoustic bass, and Jack Diefendorf on drums.

    Blue Suede Boppers

    The Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll lives: Bop till you drop with the Blue Suede Boppers, the band Cambridge Chronicle calls “keepers of the flame as far as the roots of rock are concerned.”

    Ukes for tikesThe library has two new ukuleles available for borrowing in the Children’s Room. They have colored symbols on the frets that correspond to color-coding in the instruc-tion booklet, to help children learn where to place their fingers when they play. We also have three ukuleles available for ages 12 and up available at the Reference Desk. All ukuleles now go out for three weeks.

    Let Amadi and Debby Azikiwe, on tour from New York City, sweep you away with their interpretation of violin, viola, and piano works by Bach, Beethoven, and Ravel.

    Help us kick off our summer reading programs at Nashua Library ComicFest. Find your way out of an escape room or return to medieval days watching armored combat. Plus panels, workshops, board games, food trucks, a huge artists alley, and more. For all ages.

    Kevin Gardner, author of The Granite Kiss, explains how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls, how they were built, how their styles evolved over time, and their significance to the New England landscape.     Pop in to a Nashua Pop-Up Library!

    Parking kiosk accepts credit cardsIn May, the city parking department removed the meters from our parking lot and installed a Pay by Space kiosk. To pay for parking in the library lot, remember your space number and go to the kiosk near the book drop. Follow the directions on the kiosk. Coins or credit cards are accepted. You do not have to display your receipt in your car.

    Parking rates and hours have not changed. If you don’t mind walking a few extra steps, select a spot in Zone III, further from the building, and save yourself some money. And don’t forget: all parking in our lot is free after 7 pm and on weekends!

  • Ongoing eventsJob Corps Office Hours

    Job Corps is a free, residential, education and job training program for young adults ages 16 to 24. Most Thursdays between 2 pm and 4:30 pm, you can come to the library and meet with an admissions officer who can help you apply to the program.     Public Health Clinics

    The City of Nashua Division of Public Health offers private, free or low-cost HIV and hepatitis C testing and counseling for eligible clients. They also give flu, shingles, pneumonia, hepatitis A & B, tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis immunizations. Flu shots are $15 for adults and free for children. All other shots are $10. Free blood pressure screening is also available. Bring your Medicare card and shot records if you have them.
