PBLPositive Behaviour for Learning is now embedded in the foundations of our school. Our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Achievement, Resilience and Inclusion are referred to and lessons taught on a regular basis. We acknowledge our students’ achievements at both our Monday morning K-6 assembly and on Wednesday afternoon’s assemblies in our hall. Children use the language involved in this initiative and the lessons are taught through the classroom and in our Second Steps Program. Our children are also being taught the various strategies involved in coping with bullying behaviour and are also learning the shared terminology released by the Department of Education in their 2019 Bullying No-Way policy. Our students are learning to be Upstanders and not Bystanders and are using words such as being assertive Upstanders and not passive Bystanders. The children are also becoming aware of the process we use when someone is being bullied.

CONGRATULATIONS MRS ALLISONMrs Allison was recently successful in her recent merit se-lection for the vacant position of Assistant Principal at NPS She is looking forward to continuing the work she is un-dertaking to enhance outcomes for students in our school.

ANZAC DAY SERVICES This Year ANZAC Day falls on the last Thursday of the Term 1 holidays (Thursday25th April). As students do not return to school until Tuesday 30th April, we will be holding our annual commemorative service for ANZAC Day this Thursday, 11th April. We would like to invite all families to attend our ANZAC service under the Primary COLA, commencing at 10:40am. Our assembly will be led by our school leaders. During this week students will also be spending time in their classes discussing why we celebrate ANZAC Day and the significance of the First World War and other wartime conflicts. This provides students with an opportunity to understand the importance of remembering the incredible sacrifice our ANZAC soldiers gave to preserve our way of life. On Thursday 25th April we would encourage all students to come and participate in the ANZAC Day march from Narrabri Public School to the RSL for the official ANZAC Day service. Students are asked to arrive dressed in their full school uniform (Summer) at 10:15am, to commence the march promptly at 10:30am. Students will remain seated throughout the service in front of the Cenotaph and need to be collected from this area once the service has finished. This is an amazing opportunity for all students to represent NPS and we look forward to seeing you on ANZAC Day.

SCHOOL CHOIROur beautiful sounding school choir, under the expert guidance of Ms Sharon Stoltenberg, are off to perform at the Sydney Opera House on September the 2nd. Our choir had to audition and then send their rendition off to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music to be judged. As a result of this process we were selected and will now combine with 600 students to perform at the Festival of Choral music at the Opera House. The choir will travel by train to Sydney, rehearse on Saturday afternoon and then perform in front of a full house, singing eleven different songs in parts and with challenging music. The girls and Ms Stoltenberg are practising for this grand occasion and we look forward to seeing them perform on one of the best stages in the world.
