Vrednote, ki jih v Drogi gojimo, so plod zavedanja, da se razvijamo v globalno delujo~o korporacijo. Ob tem se ve~a na{a odgovornost za {ir{a dru`bena vpra{anja, med katere nedvomno sodi tudi ravnanje z okoljem.^lovek pre`ivi najmanj tretjino najproduktivnej{ega in najdovzetnej{ega ~asa na delovnem mestu, zato je kulturni razvoj vsakega posameznika nelo~ljivo povezan z vrednotami in odnosi, ki veljajo znotraj delovnega okolja. Lahko deluje {e tako iztro{eno, a zato ni ni~ manj resni~no: ravnanje z okoljem se za~ne in kon~a pri vsakem posamezniku. Zato razvijamo osebnostne lastnosti posameznika in strokovnost, poudarjamo znanje, inovativnost in timsko delo, kajti samo zelo motiviran, zadovoljen sodelavec, ki ~uti pripadnost in ceni poslovno etiko podjetja, lahko doda kamen~ek v mozaik kulture podjetja. Ozave{~enost in spo{tljiv odnos do okolja sta ustrezna kazalca uravnote`enega razvoja, ki poslovne cilje uresni~uje na dolgi rok, zavedajo~ se, da je okolje, v katerem poslujemo, predvsem pa v njem `ivimo, le eno, neprecenljivo in neponovljivo.

The values cultivated at Droga are the result of the awareness that we are developing into a corpora-tion operating globally. At the same time we are becoming more responsible for broader social issues undoubtedly comprising environmental management.A person spends at least a third of his/her most productive and responsive time at work, therefore the cultural development of each individual is inseparably connected with the values and relationships prevailing within the working environment. It may sound over-familiar, but the truth is that environ-mental management starts and ends with each individual. Therefore we are developing the personal and professional characteristics of the individual and laying stress on knowledge, innovation and team work, since only a highly motivated, satisfied employee, feeling loyalty to and respecting the business ethics of the company, can add a little stone to the mosaic of the company’s culture. A conscious and respectful attitude towards the environment is the relevant indicator of a balanced development, pursuing long-term business goals, conscious of the fact that the environment, in which we operate and, first of all, live, is the only one, invaluable and irreplaceable.

Prizadevanje za razvoj, moderna tehnologija in narava izdelkov Drogo uvr{~ajo med okolju prijazna proizvodna podjetja. Samoobveza za nenehno izbolj{evanje in zavest o pomembnosti varovanja okolja ter gojitev zaupanja in ugleda pri potro{nikih so nas spodbudile k vpeljavi sistema ravnanja z okoljem v skladu z mednarodnim standardom ISO 14001. S tak{nim pristopom dolgoro~no in do najve~je mo`ne mere zmanj{ujemo vpliv lastne dejavnosti na okolje. Okoljski vidik upo{tevamo `e pri na~rtovanju tehnologij in proizvodov, da bi bilo obremenjeva-nje okolja pri proizvodnji, uporabi in odlaganju po uporabi na{ih izdelkov ~im manj{e. Zavedamo se, da je odnos do okolja predvsem domena osebne kulture. S pomo~jo u~inkovitega si-stema notranjega in zunanjega komuniciranja, ozave{~anja in usposabljanja neprestano spodbujamo ekolo{ko zavest vsakega posameznika ter razvijamo okoljsko kulturo podjetja, ki je prisotna v vseh aktivnostih Droge in dodaja svoj dele` k ustvarjanju okoljsko ozave{~ene dru`be.

Development orientation, modern technology, and the nature of our products place Droga among environmentally friendly producers. Our own commitment to continual improvement and awareness of the importance of environmental protection as well as the care for trust and for consolidating our reputation with consumers gave us the impulse to introduce the environmental management system in compliance with the international standard ISO 14001. By such an approach we reduce the environmental impact of our activity in the long term and to the greatest possible degree. The environmental aspect is taken into account already in the phase of planning technologies and products with the aim to ease burdens on the environment in production, usage, and disposal after the use of our products.We are aware of the fact that our attitude to the environment is mainly a question of personal culture. By means of an effective system of internal and external communications, establishing awareness and training we continuously encourage the environmental awareness of each individual and develop an environmental corporate culture, which is present in all Droga’s activities and adds its part to creating an environmentally aware society.

Leta 1994 sprejeta odlo~itev o uvedbi sistema kakovosti v skladu z mednarodnim standardom ISO 9001 je bila iskra, ki je spodbudila razvoj sistemov kakovosti v Drogi.Dogodki, ki so si sledili, so bili tako le logi~na posledica te prvotne odlo~itve in zavezanosti vseh zapo-slenih h kulturi nenehnega izbolj{evanja. Preliminarno oceno okoljskega stanja smo izvedli v letu 1998. Leta 1999 pa smo sprejeli odlo~itev, da certificiran sistem kakovosti, zaradi vse ve~je aktualnosti okolj-ske problematike, dogradimo s sistemom ravnanja z okoljem po zahtevah standarda ISO 14001.Integracija sistema ravnanja z okoljem v obstoje~i sistem vodenja je potekala postopno.Priprava in sprejemanje okoljske politike, prepoznavanje in ocenjevanje okoljskih vidikov, dolo~anje okoljskih ciljev, priprava postopkov okoljskega komuniciranja so bili pomembni koraki na poti do cer-tificiranja sistema. Nedvomno pa je najpomembnej{e, da jih je vseskozi spremljalo ciljno usmerjeno usposabljanje, s kate-rim smo ravnanje z okoljem uspeli vgraditi v Drogin vsakdan.

Statement by the representative of top management responsible for environment

The decision, taken in 1994, on the introduction of the quality system in compliance with the interna-tional standard ISO 9001 was the spark which initiated the development of Droga’s quality systems.The events that followed were only the logical consequence of this prime decision and commitment of all the employees to the culture of continual improvement. The preliminary assessment of environ-mental situation was carried out in 1998. In 1999 we accepted the decision that the certified quality system should be upgraded with the environmental management system according to the require-ment of the ISO 14001 standard, because of the increasing actuality of environmental topics.The integration of the environmental management system into the existing management system was carried out step-by-step.The preparation and adoption of an environmental policy, recognition and assessment of environmen-tal aspects, defining environmental objectives and targets, and preparation of environmental commu-nication procedures were the important steps on the way to certification of the system. Undoubtedly, the most important fact was that these steps were throughout accompanied by the targeted environmental training, which enabled us to incorporate environmental management into Droga’s daily routine.

Okoljska politika Droge je politika vseh zaposle-nih, zato jo moramo poznati, razumeti in izvajati na vseh ravneh. V njej izra`amo osnovna na~ela svoje okoljevarstvene miselnosti. Postavili smo te-melj u~inkovitega in uspe{nega sistema ravnanja z okoljem. Zavezali smo se k izpolnjevanju na~el okoljske politike ter uresni~evanju ciljev in izvaja-nju nalog, ki iz nje izhajajo.

The environmental policy of Droga is the policy of all employees, and therefore we must know, un-derstand, and implement it at all levels. It states the basic principles of our environmental protec-tion attitude. We have set the foundation of an efficient and successful environmental manage-ment system. We have committed ourselves to meeting the principles of the environmental protection policy and fulfilling the objectives and tasks arising from it.

Environmental management system

V Drogi smo se odlo~ili za integriran sistem vodenja, saj smatramo, da sta uresni~evanji poslovnih in okoljskih ciljev cesti, ki peljeta v isto smer. Pozornost namenjamo predvsem preventivnim ukrepom, usmerjenim v var~evanje z energenti in vodo, ter prepre~evanju nastajanja odpadkov in emisij.Sledimo spremembam dr`avne zakonodaje in krajevnih predpisov ter spremljamo svetovne okoljske novosti in trende. S pomo~jo proaktivnega notranjega in zunanjega komuniciranja, ozave{~anja in usposabljanja razvija-mo ekolo{ko zavest vseh udele`encev v poslovnem procesu Droge in gojimo skupno okoljsko kulturo podjetja. Zavedamo se, da na{ vpliv sega veliko dlje od meja Droginih proizvodnih centrov, in trudimo se, da z zgledom in odgovornostjo prispevamo svoj dele` tudi k razvoju okolju prijazne miselnosti.

We at Droga decided on an integral management system since we believe that aiming at business and environmental objectives is a road leading in the same direction. Attention is given mainly to preven-tive measures directed towards saving energy sources and water, and prevention of waste generation and emissions.We follow the changes of state legislation and local regulations and closely observe the new global environmental issues and trends. By means of proactive internal and external communications, awareness and training we are develop-ing the environmental awareness of all participants in the business process of Droga and also devel-oping an environmental corporate culture. We are aware of the fact that our impact goes far beyond the confines of the plant centres, and are trying to contribute our share to the development of an environmentally friendly attitude by our own example and responsibility.

Energetski viri so prete`no neobnovljive naravne danosti, ki obenem bistveno prispevajo k skup-nim emisijam v ozra~je. Pitna voda postaja vse te`e obnovljiv in s tem vse bolj omejen vir. Zavedamo se pomembnosti teh ve~krat prezrtih naravnih dobrin, zato smo si za enega temeljnih ciljev postavili racionalno porabo energentov in vode, kar smo tudi zapisali v svojo okoljsko politiko. Uporaba razli~nih energentov, na~inov oskrbe z energijo in tehni~nih izvedb energetskih in vod-nih sistemov zahteva razli~ne na~ine spremljanja in analiziranja. V letu 2001 smo najve~ pozornosti namenili vzpo-stavitvi u~inkovitega sistema obvladovanja pora-be energentov in vode, ki bi bil najprimernej{i za vsak proizvodni center (v nadaljevanju PC).Za vse proizvodne centre smo pripravili na~rte gospodarjenja z energenti in vodo, s katerimi smo opredelili aktivnosti, ki nam omogo~ajo spremljanje, analiziranje in ukrepanje za izbo-lj{anje oz. zmanj{evanje porabe teh, za nas po-membnih okoljskih vidikov.

PC Nova tovarna

Izgradnja in zagon PC Nova tovarna, ki je nado-mestila stari PC Argo in PC Za~imba, upo{tevajo~ okoljsko zakonodajo in najmodernej{e okoljske standarde, sta nedvomno velika koraka tudi proti okolju prijazni proizvodnji. Primerjave ka`ejo, da se je kljub za~etnemu letu novega proizvodnega centra poraba mineralnih goriv zmanj{ala za 22 % v primerjavi s predhodnimi lokacijami. Po uspe{no zaklju~eni prehodni fazi smo uspeli v zadnjem ~etrtletju 2001 zmanj{ati porabo vode za 48 %.Vzpostavili smo centralni nadzorni sistem, ki nam z ve~ kot 700 merilnimi to~kami omogo~a u~-inkovito spremljanje in analiziranje porabe ener-gentov in vode, predvsem pa snovanje ukrepov za izbolj{ave.

Energetski viri in voda Energy sources and water

Energy sources are mostly non-renewable natu-ral goods contributing considerably to overall air emissions. Drinking water is becoming increasingly hard to renew and therefore more and more a limited source. We are aware of the importance of these frequently overlooked natural goods, and there-fore rational use of energy sources and water is defined as one of our basic targets and set in our environmental policy.The use of different kinds of energy sources, supply of energy and technical characteristics of energy and water systems require different ways of monitoring and analyses. In 2001 the greatest attention was devoted to establishing an effective system of control of the use of energy sources and water, which would be the most appropriate for each plant centre (hereinafter PC).For all plant centres we prepared plans for the management of energy sources and water, and then defined the activities which enable us to monitor, analyse and take measures to improve and reduce the consumption of these enery sources, which is an important environmental consideration.

PC Nova tovarna

The construction and start-up of the PC Nova tovarna – which replaced the old PC Argo and PC Za~imba – taking into account environmental legislation and the latest environmental stand-ards was undoubtedly also a great step towards environmentally friendly production. Compari-sons show that, in spite of this being the starting year of the new PC, the consumption of mineral fuels decreased by 22% with regard to previous locations. After a successfully completed transi-tion phase we managed to reduce the consump-tion of water by 48% in the last quarter of the year 2001.We established a central control system which, through more than 700 measuring points, makes it possible effectively to monitor and analyse consumption of energy sources and water, and to prepare measures for improvements.

PC Zlato polje

Z zamenjavo izgorevalnih komor v toplotni ob-delavi mlevskih izdelkov smo uspeli nazivno mo~ grelcev zmanj{ati s 165 na 44 kW. Temu smo dodali {e poseben magnet za izbolj{anje u~inko-vitosti izgorevanja, zato upravi~eno pri~akujemo znatno zmanj{anje porabe uteko~injenega naf-tnega plina.Z izbolj{avo hlajenja tehnolo{kega postopka eks-trakcije, ki je plod lastnega znanja, smo uspeli bi-stveno zmanj{ati porabo vode. Predlog g. Zorana Jano{kovi~a, ki je omogo~il to izbolj{avo, je bil nagrajen kot ekolo{ki koristni predlog leta.

PC Gosad

Z organizacijskimi ukrepi smo uspeli zmanj{ati porabo vode za pranje delovnih povr{in. Izvedli smo izbolj{avo tehnolo{kega postopka za proiz-vodnjo vlo`enih vrtnin, s katero smo uspeli lo~-iti ~isto hladilno vodo od tehnolo{ke, in s tem bistveno skraj{ali ~as delovanja ~istilne naprave. Najbolj razveseljiv pa je podatek, da je primerjalni indeks porabe vode, kurilnega olja in elektri~ne energije med letoma 2001 in 2000 pod 1, kljub znatnemu pove~anju proizvodnje.

PC Zlato polje

By replacement of combustion chambers in the process of thermal treatment of milling products we managed to reduce the rated power of heat-ers from 165 to 44 kW. Furthermore, a special magnet to improve combustion efficiency was added; therefore it is reasonable to expect a con-siderable reduction in consumption of liquefied petroleum gas.By improvement of cooling in the technological procedure of extraction, which is the result of our own knowledge, it was possible to attain a substantial reduction in the consumption of wa-ter. The proposal of Mr Zoran Jano{kovi~, which enabled this improvement, was awarded a prize as an ecologically useful proposal of the year.

PC Gosad

By reorganisational measures we managed to reduce the consumption of water for washing working surfaces. Improvements of technologi-cal procedure for production of preserved veg-etables made it possible to separate pure cooling water from the technological water and there-fore substantially shorten the operating time of the water treatment plant. The most favourable information, however, is that in spite of the con-siderable increase in production, the compara-tive indices of consumption of water, fuel oil and electric power between the years 2001 and 2000 are below 1.

PC Sol

Brez spremljanja in analiziranja je ukrepanje ne-mogo~e, zato smo v tem letu pripravili na~rt gospodarjenja z energenti in vodo v PC Sol. Po-zornost smo namenili tudi ozave{~anju, ker meni-mo da lahko vsi, z racionalnim izvajanjem vsako-dnevnih aktivnosti, pripomoremo k u~inkovitej{i izrabi teh naravnih dobrin.Pri ogrevanju pisarni{kih prostorov smo zamenjali potratne termoakumulacijske pe~i in oljne radi-atorje z modernej{imi klimatskimi napravami s toplotno ~rpalko.

PC Sol

Without monitoring and analyses no action is possible, therefore in this year we prepared a plan for management of energy sources and water at PC Salt. Attention was devoted also to establishing awareness, since we believe that all of us can contribute to more rational use of these natural goods.For heating business premises we replaced wasteful thermo-accumulating heaters and oil radiators by a modern air conditioning system with heat pump.

Zavezanost k prepre~evanju nastajanja odpadkov in ustrezno ravnanje z neizogibnimi proizvodnimi odpadki spadata k glavnim vsebinam na{e okolj-ske politike. Skrb za prepre~evanje nastajanja odpadkov se pri~ne pri na~rtovanju. Zato ta vidik upo{tevamo `e pri razvoju novih izdelkov in izboru novih teh-nologij. Dr`imo se na~ela, da odpadek postane to le, ko ga ni mogo~e koristno uporabiti. Zato smo tudi vzpostavili sistem predajanja uporabnih nenevarnih odpadkov bli`njim prebivalcem, ki plasti~ne sode uporabljajo kot pomo`ne vrtne posode, odpadne lesene palete pa za kurjavo. Trenutno lo~eno zbiramo od 5-11 razli~nih ne-nevarnih odpadkov, kljub temu da za nekatere izmed njih v Sloveniji {e zmeraj ni ustreznej{e re{itve, kot da kon~ajo na komunalnih deponijah. S spremljanjem novih mo`nosti in nadaljevanjem zbiranja jih bomo v trenutku, ko bo to mogo~e, pripravljeni tudi ustrezno predati. Kultura lo~-enega zbiranja odpadkov se v podjetju hitro {iri.Med nevarne odpadke v Drogi uvr{~amo le od-padno olje, ki ga zaradi narave proizvodnje letno proizvedemo le nekaj sto litrov. Vse lokacije smo opremili z ustreznimi lovilnimi posodami in ad-sorpcijskimi sredstvi. Odpadna olja in iztro{eno adsorpcijsko sredstvo ter naoljene krpe predaja-mo poobla{~enim organizacijam.Za vsak proizvodni center smo pripravili na~rt go-spodarjenja z odpadki, na katerem temelji sistem lo~enega zbiranja in njihovega predajanja poob-la{~enim organizacijam.

Commitment to the prevention of waste genera-tion and proper handling of unavoidable produc-tion wastes is one of the major features of our environmental policy. Care for the prevention of waste generation starts with planning. Therefore this aspect is taken into account already in the phase of de-veloping new products and deciding on new technologies. We hold the principle that waste is only that which cannot be practically used. Therefore we set up the system of making useful non-hazardous wastes available to local citizens, who use plastic barrels as auxiliary garden pots and wooden palettes as fuel.At present, we separately collect from 5 to 11 various non-hazardous wastes, although in Slovenia for some of them there is still no ad-equate solution to prevent them from ending up at municipal waste disposal sites. By keeping ourselves informed about new possibilities and further collecting, we shall be prepared to hand over such wastes as soon as possible. The culture of separated waste collection is spreading fast within the company.At Droga, only waste oil – which on account of the nature of production amounts to some 100 litres per year – is classified as hazardous waste. All locations have been furnished with adequate collectors and adsorbents. Waste oils as well as used-up adsorption agents and oiled cloths are delivered to authorised organisations.For each plant centre we have prepared a plan of waste management, which is the basis of a system of separate collection of wastes and their appropriate delivery to authorised organisations

Zakonodaja Legislation

V okoljski politiki smo se zavezali razvijati sistem ravnanja z okoljem, upo{tevajo~ vse zahteve dr`avne zakonodaje in krajevnih predpisov. Zato smo vzpostavili seznam in register vseh potreb-nih zakonodajnih aktov. Predpisali smo si njihovo spremljanje in obvladovanje ter dolo~ili na~in ob-ve{~anja in udejanjanja teh zahtev.Skladnost sistema z veljavno zakonodajo v praksi ugotavljamo s pomo~jo na~rtovanih in nena-povedanih notranjih presoj ravnanja z okoljem. Ugotovitve presoj pa so temelj za bodo~e korek-tivne in preventivne ukrepe.

Monitoringi

Meritve emisij v zrak, v vode in hrupa v okolico izvajajo v predpisanih ~asovnih intervalih poob-la{~ene organizacije. S tem zagotavljamo, da je vpliv na{e dejavnosti na okolje znotraj vseh za-konodajno dolo~enih parametrov. Na~elo nenehnega izbolj{evanja nas vodi v do-datno zmanj{evanje emisij. Zato smo v tem letu izvajali izbolj{ave obstoje~ih ~istilnih naprav, kot so: dograditev egalizacijskega bazena in dopol-nitev obstoje~ega sistema s t. i. kemi~no fazo v PC Nova tovarna, sanacija bazena ~istilne naprave v PC Zlato polje, optimiziranje pretoka tehnolo{ke odpadne vode v PC Gosad.

By our environmental policy we have committed ourselves to developing environmental manage-ment system, taking into account all require-ments of national laws and regulations. To this end we have established a list and register of all relevant legislative acts. We oblige ourselves to regularly check them, and have defined the way of communication and fulfilment of these requirements.Compliance of the system with legislation in force is in practice assessed by both planned and unannounced internal audits of the environmen-tal management. The findings of these audits are the basis for future corrective and preventive measures.

Monitoring

Measurements of emissions into air and water and of noise pollution are carried out by author-ised organisations at prescribed time intervals. In this way we assure that the impact of our activity on the environment is within all legally defined parameters. The principle of continual improvement directs us towards achieving further reductions of emissions. Therefore in this year we carried out improvements at existing purification plants, such as: completion of the equalizing reservoir and addition of a chemical phase to the existing system at PC Nova tovarna, rehabilitation of a treatment plant reservoir at PC Zlato polje, and optimisation of waste water flow at PC Gosad.

Okoljska kultura

Ustrezna usposobljenost vseh, ki sodelujejo v procesu ravnanja z okoljem, je temelj, na katerem raste in se razvija okoljska kultura podjetja, zato smo temu segmentu in diverzifikaciji vsebin namenili {e posebno pozornost. Poleg delavnic, ki se jih je udele`ilo vodstvo podjetja, in izobra`evanja za notranje presojevalce smo predvideli usposabljanje prav za vse zaposlene. Ve~ino oblik smo izvedli sami, ker smatramo, da to dodatno utrjuje odnose med zaposlenimi in idejo skupnega, okolju prijaznega delo-vanja.

Prikaz gibanja {tevila udele`encev v razli~nih oblikah okoljskega usposabljanja

Oblike usposabljanj se razlikujejo glede na ciljno skupino, ki so ji namenjene. Skupno vsem pa je, da udele`enci spoznajo globalne ekolo{ke probleme, osnove standarda ISO 14001 in pomembnost vsake-ga posameznika pri vzdr`evanju in razvoju celovitega sistema ravnanja z okoljem v Drogi.Konec leta 2001 je bilo okoljskega usposabljanja dele`nih 493 zaposlenih, kar predstavlja pribli`no 80 % vseh.

The appropriate competence of each and everyone taking part in the process of environmental man-agement is the basis of growth and development of the corporate environmental culture, and there-fore special attention was devoted to this segment and diversification of contents. Apart from work-shops for top management and professional training of internal auditors, training was also foreseen for all employees. A major part of training was carried out internally, as we believe this additionally strengthens relationships between employees and fortifies the idea of joint environmentally friendly operation.

Environmental training:1. Elaboration of a system regulating the environmental protection framework in compliance with in-

ternational standard ISO 14001: Comprehensive six-hour training with an external lecturer, partly as a workshop, which was attended by top management in 1998.

2. ISO 14001 in practice: Two-hour training for top management, in which an external lecturer pre-sented the way to achieve an effective environmental management system.

3. Training of internal auditors: Two-day seminar with final test for internal auditors of the environ-mental management system.

4. Comprehensive internal environmental training: Two-hour training for managers and technologists with internal and external lecturers.

5. Elementary internal environmental training: Half an hour environmental training for all employees.6. Elementary environmental training as a part of the Introductory seminar for newly employed.

The different types of training are adjusted to various target groups. Their common feature, however, is that participants are acquainted with global ecological problems, the basics of the ISO 14001 stand-ard and the importance of each individual in maintaining and developing an integral environmental management system at Droga.By the end of the year 2001 altogether 493 employees, i.e. approximately 80% of all employees, had received environmental training.

Z okoljevarstevnim komuniciranjem omogo~amo pretok informacij in povratnih informacij za u~-inkovito sodelovanje vseh izvajalcev okoljskih nalog, na vseh ravneh in za proaktivni pristop do ravnanja z okoljem. Zagotavljamo informiranost zaposlenih in s tem oblikujemo oz. sooblikujemo splo{no okoljsko kulturo podjetja in okolice.

Svoje predlo-ge, opozorila in opa`anja za izbolj{anje sistema ravnanja z okoljem lahko posredujejo odgovor-nim osebam prek sistema koristnih predlogov. Mnenje lahko izrazijo tudi v obliki prispevkov za interno glasilo Na{ glas. Ker se zavedamo, da je dialog tako med zaposlenimi kot z nadrejenimi eden klju~nih dejavnikov za nenehno izbolj{e-vanje sistema ravnanja z okoljem, je ta vseskozi omogo~en in za`elen. Informativno bro{uro Okolje smo vsi so kot prilo-go internega glasila Na{ glas prejeli vsi zaposleni in upokojenci.

Environmental protection communication enables the flow of information and feedback aimed at effective cooperation of all performers of environ-mental tasks at all levels, and a proactive approach to environmental management. It is assured that all employees are kept informed and thus contribute to the general environmental culture of the company and the local environment.

Internal communication

Internal communication within Droga comprises:• information on objectives and targets in the field

of environmental management at all levels, • information on targets attained and tasks reali-

sed,• information on the rights, duties and obligations

of employees,• information on new environmental protection

technologies and interesting issues,• proposals by employees for reduction, elimina-

tion or prevention of eventual impacts on the environment,

• responses of responsible persons to proposals and warnings from employees,

• training on environmental subjects and the envi-ronmental management system,

• realisation of an annual work plan for the busi-ness function of marketing.

Communication tools used in internal communica-tion are:• meetings of a management team for quality

control and the environment, and of teams for quality control and the environment in all organi-sational units,

• permanent dialogue between employees at all levels,

• notice boards,• in-house journal Na{ glas (Our Voice),• training and education,• system of useful proposals, • brochures, folders, printed forms,• prize games, • intranet.

By these communication tools all employees are informed of the policy and environmental manage-ment objectives and targets and their realisation. Through the system of useful proposals employees can submit to responsible persons their proposals, warnings and observations regarding improvement of the environmental management system. Their viewpoints can also be expressed in the in-house journal Our Voice. Since we understand that dia-logue between employees and with superiors is one of the key factors for continual improvement of the environmental management system, the exchange of views is always possible and welcome. Koristni predlogi

S sistemom koristnih predlogov, ki je v Drogi vpeljan `e od leta 1999, aktivno spodbujamo za-poslene k ustvarjalnosti in s tem k odkrivanju ter uvajanju novih re{itev v proizvodnih, informacij-skih in upravljavskih procesih, ki prispevajo k ve~ji produktivnosti in kakovosti izdelkov ter storitev, pove~anju prihrankov, zagotavljanju stabilnosti procesa proizvodnje, izbolj{anju procesa dela, racionalizaciji proizvodnje, izbolj{anju varstva pri delu, pogojev dela, ugleda dru`be ... Ob uvajanju sistema ravnanja z okoljem so ko-ristni predlogi postal dodatno orodje za zmanj{-evanje vplivov na{e dejavnosti na okolje. V letu 2001 smo tako prvi~ podelili nagrado za najbolj ekolo{ko koristen predlog.

subcontractors.

Communication tools for external communica-tions are:• press conferences,• interviews and statements,• reports,• press releases,• round tables and the like,• the periodical Od nas do vas (From us to you),• internet,• green telephone.

Droga’s presence in the media is monitored by a press-clipping service which is carried out by a specialized company. We have established a green phone which is also intended for recording possible environmental questions and answers to them. In 2001 there were no environmental questions.

Useful proposals

Through the system of useful proposals, intro-duced in Droga already in 1999, we actively encourage employees to be creative and to discover and introduce new solutions for pro-duction, information and managing procedures, which contribute to greater productivity and to the quality of products and services, increase of savings, assuring stability of the production proc-ess, improvement of work procedure, rationalisa-tion of production, improvement of work safety, working conditions, reputation of the company, etc. With the introduction of the environmental man-agement system useful proposals became an ad-ditional tool for reducing impacts of our activity on the environment. Thus in the year 2001, we for the first time awarded a prize for an ecologi-cally useful proposal.

Notranje presoje

Osnovni namen notranjih presoj je preverjanje skladnosti sistema ravnanja z okoljem z zahteva-mi standarda ISO 14001. Praviloma jih izvajamo skupno s presojami sistema kakovosti. Te razume-mo kot u~inkovito orodje za nenehno izbolj{eva-nje in - ne nazadnje - za izmenjavo mnenj, izku-{enj in pristopov med presojanci in presojevalci. V tem letu smo vzpostavili ra~unalni{ko podporo za notranje presoje, ki se je pridru`ila `e v letu 2000 vzpostavljeni podpori za obvladovanje sistemske dokumentacije. Omogo~a nam ve~jo hitrost iz-vedbe, preglednost in u~inkovitost notranjih presoj. Pozitiven okoljski u~inek pa je nedvomno tudi zmanj{anje porabe pisarni{kega papirja in prostora.

Obve{~anje zunanjih izvajalcev

V Drogi se vsakodnevno vrsti veliko {tevilo zu-nanjih izvajalcev, ki opravljajo vrsto storitev, od gradbenih, logisti~nih, vzdr`evalnih, ~istilnih pa do gostinskih, ki lahko bistveno vplivajo na oko-lje. Vzdr`evanje in razvijanje u~inkovitega sistema ravnanja z okoljem zahtevata sodelovanje in oza-ve{~enost vseh ~lenov v poslovnem procesu. Zunanje izvajalce zato `e pri vhodu v proizvodne centre seznanimo z okoljsko politiko, z na~inom dela in s pravili, ki jih morajo upo{tevati tudi sami.

Nagradna igra za najmlaj{e in {e kaj

@e ve~krat se je na{e interno glasilo izkazalo kot zelo prodorno orodje komuniciranja, ki krepko presega doseg zaposlenih v Drogi. Prebirajo ga tako dru`inski ~lani, prijatelji kot znanci.ISO 14001 je kljub svoji pomembnosti {e vedno standard, ki je oblikovno formaliziran, vsebinsko strukturiran in kot tak{en nezanimiv za {ir{o jav-nost. Zato smo za razlago in {irjenje smernic stan-darda uporabili tudi nekoliko bolj igrive metode.Vzpostavljanje sistema ravnanja z okoljem smo prek internega glasila lahko spremljali tudi v igrivem stripu, kjer sta se podjetni krogec in fr-frasti kvadratek sre~evala s podobnimi te`avami kot mi.

Da pri vsem temu ne bi pozabili najmlaj{ih, ki bodo morali popravljati napake, storjene v pre-teklosti, smo za njih pripravili nagradno igro Na{i otroci ri{ejo, ki jih je ve~ mesecev spodbujala k razmi{ljanju o okolju.

Internal audits

The basic purpose of internal audits is to check conformity of the environmental management system with the requirements of the ISO 14001. As a rule they are performed together with au-dits of the system of quality control. Audits are considered as an effective tool for continual improvement, and above all for the exchange of opinions, experiences and approaches between the audited and the auditors. In this year we succeeded in establishing computer support for internal audits, which was attached to support for managing system documentation already established in the year 2000. It enables faster execution, greater transparency and efficiency of internal audits. One positive environmental effect is undoubtedly also the reduction of office paper and space.

Notification of external contractors

Each day at Droga there is a great number of external contractors performing various serv-ices, such as construction works, logistic services, maintaining, cleaning and catering, all of which can have a considerable impact on the environ-ment. Establishing and maintaining an effective environmental management system requires co-operation and an awareness of all interim parts in the business process. Therefore external contractors, already before entering into our plant centres, are acquainted with our environmental policy, way of work and the rules which they need to respect.

Prize game for the youngest and something more besides

More than once our in-house journal has proved to be a very efficient communication tool extend-ing well beyond the circle of Droga’s employees. The journal is read also by family members, friends and other acquaintances.ISO 14001, in spite of its importance, is still a standard, which is formalised in form and struc-tured by its contents, and as such not interesting to the general public. Therefore the explanation and propagation of the standard principles were carried out also by some playful methods.Through the establishment of our environmental management system we were able to enjoy fol-lowing, in our in-house journal, the comic-strips in which a Circle man of an entrepreneurial spirit and an easy-going Square man are meeting prob-lems similar to those faced by Droga.

And so that the youngest – who will after all have to remedy mistakes made in the past – would not be overlooked, we prepared a prize game “Our children are drawing”, which for several months encouraged them to think about the environ-ment.
