WEEK 1 TERM 1 Friday 8th February 2019
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
I hope everyone had a restful holiday and enjoyed some
family time over the Christmas break.
Although the weather was a bit extreme, it was nice to
have a relaxed routine and not be tied to the clock!
Students have had a fantastic start to the 2019 school
year and staff are excited for the year ahead.
NEW STUDENTS
We are very excited to welcome two new Kindergarten
students to the NPS family. Michael and Tillan did
transition with us in Term 4 last year and have settled in
well to their new school routines.
2019 STAFFING
This year we welcome two new staff members to the
team:
Ms Jayne Miller will be teaching Primary HSIE and
Science and teaching K-6 Creative Arts on Thursdays.
Jayne has extensive teaching experience in both NSW
and the Northern Territory and was keen to stay in the
area after teaching in Lake Cargelligo last semester. We
look forward to utilising her Creative Arts expertise in
particular!
Mrs Cheryl McFadyen will be working in the office on
Wednesdays, joining us as a School Administrative
Officer. Cheryl will be focusing on school
communications and will be working on the newsletter,
school website and Facebook page, and supporting Mrs
Castle and myself in with other administrative tasks.
Cheryl has worked with us over the years on a casual
basis and brings with her a good knowledge of our
finance system from previous employment.
Mrs Castle, Miss J and Miss D will continue in their
temporary roles for the 2019 school year. Anita is
continuing as our General Assistant on a casual basis
until the permanent position is filled.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS
Just a reminder that there was a slight change to the
school uniform at the end of
last year to reflect the
changes to the departments
policies. Our green polo
shirts which were originally
our sports shirts are now
worn every day. Shirts can be
ordered through Wendy’s
Embroidery in West Wyalong
or through the school.
SAFER INTERNET DAY
Primary students
participated in a
virtual classroom
session on Thursday
morning as part of
Safer Internet Day.
They learnt about the personal and social capabilities
that are important for creating positive online
environments and explored communicating with
respect, developing resilience, using reasoning and
choosing to act responsibly.
