Their concert includes stories of how the songs were written and glimpses into the history of Appalachian life.

WORLD SLAVERY: THE DEVELOPMENT & THE RISE OF AMERICAN MUSIC Wednesday, February 10, 2 p.m.Ray Kamalay traces the development of slavery from ancient times to its links with American society up to the early jazz age. Letters, speeches and diary entries reveal Anthony’s wit and intellect as she fights for abolition and women’s rights, particularly women’s suffrage. This is a one-woman historic enactment presented by Sally Matson.
