Making a Reading Campaign
Denmark’s Reading is the national reading campaign initiated by the Danish Minister for Culture Marianne Jelved in 2013. 20 million DKK has been allocated to the initiative over the next four years.
The aims and criteria for success of the campaign are:
Changing people’s behavior (mobilization) Find out what makes people read (new knowledge) Spreading the word (create visibility)
Competition within the municipalites
In March 2014 12 Danish municipalities (of 98) were awarded the title “reading municipalities” by an independent jury, based on their creative and innovative reading activities.
In May 2015 the jury will choose the winner of the competition and the most effective methods and best practices will be shared and implemented on a larger scale.
